Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

Pokemon Trainer is obviously dead, but Squirtle may have a chance. Venusaur has none.

The Bulbasaur line is more popular than Squirtle's in Japan (likely due to the Red/Green versions being the original ones, rather than Red/Blue). Although Charmander is the most popular one everywhere.

Link also has a new dash attack, a jump slash.

It's about time that attack was added, considering how it has been in every 3d Zelda...

anyone else glad that the subspace enemies are back in Smash Run? just me?

I like Poppant.

Speaking of which, I'm surprised we have Chandelure as an enemy...it just seems weird to have killable Pokemon (excluding the main cast) like that as enemy fodder. Seems like something the Pokemon Company would disprove of.

I might be in the minority but I think there's still a chance for Pokemon Trainer (maybe not Red specifically) to come back, with three new starters.

However, I don't know if Sakurai considers that character to be a "change" character in the same vein as ZSS and Sheik... but if he does then I guess Trainer is out and we'll probably get at least one more pokemon char - the grass starter everyone keeps mentioning.

fixed

Also what are the chances that Project M influenced this game?

no hating on villager, but he just dosen't make it for me, that's it

well, we have

-custom outfits(frame Lil Mac)
-separation of transformation characters
-individual pokemons instead of PKM trainer
-a more fast paced gameplay(still not as fast as melee but it's something)
-stage focused on competition(flat stages)

perhaps more, seems like they took note, but what I really want back is L-Cancel, doubt it, but I can dream lol

Beautiful. I like how they kept her slouch. Only thing that could make it better is the deep-voiced laughter.

Japan has better taste.

Although neither have the best taste

When you consider that the tether recovery mechanic is being phased out in Sm4sh, I think the writing on the wall is pretty clear for Ivysaur.

Yep, that was my first thought when I noticed that Zero Suit Samus and Sheik don't have their whips anymore and Charizard being standby.

I know, right

Black It absorbs a spirit, which it then burns. By waving the flames on its arms, it puts its foes into a hypnotic trance.
White Being consumed in Chandelure’s flame burns up the spirit, leaving the body behind.
Black 2
White 2
The spirits burned up in its ominous flame lose their way and wander this world forever.

I am really curious as to how Mega Evolution is going to take place. I thought it was Final Smash at first, but it appears not. Now we know that both Lucario and Charizard have it, I am really intrigued.

Also want to know what Charizard's does, since Mega Lucario has full aura regardless of percentage. I also want to know how long it lasts.

Wow. Someone needs to make a collection of pics for every item, stage, AT,Pokemon etc. There are a lot of things I didn't notice.

Just saw this response. I have since done that. You know where to look :)

That's what I'm trying to figure out too. There was some stuff that I caught but haven't seen many people talk about.

Balloon Fight stage had it's own series icon. (This bias in me is pushing for Balloon Fighter). However, as did Find Mii, Nintendo's, and Pilotwings. (Did we see Tomadichi?)

Kremlings in the Smash Bros. City Trial (K. Rool?)

Then there were the obvious ones like:

Pseudo-Palutena tease.

Ridley fever nod.

I'm just sitting here waiting for playable Chibi-Robo and I'm just glad he hasn't been deconfirmed yet :) (I'm putting my faith in you Bandai!!! He was your IP first!)

Considering all the little details we've been sucking out of the Direct, I find it hard to believe we've missed very much. Maybe one or two new moves sprinkled in there.

I like Poppant.

It is a little weird, but it's also a little awesome. I guess it's not much different than having Rayquaza as a boss in the SSE, though.

We all know the guy writing those is blackmailing TPC and Nintendo.

I apologize if this has already been brought up, or has already been discredited, but a thought occurred to me.

Sakurai has been pretty adamant that the Wii U and 3DS versions of the games will have all the same playable characters. However, he's been pretty coy about the connectivity between the two versions beyond potentially customizable attacks. He also has to be aware that the 3DS version coming first is going to spoil the line-up of the Wii U version.

Basically, I'm wondering if one of the features of the connectivity between the two versions is related to unlocking characters. Like, you can unlock the entire roster between the two versions, but there are characters that are only unlockable in the 3DS version, and characters only unlockable in the Wii U. Linking up the two would unlock the characters in the other version once they were found in their proper version. This would simultaneously give reason to buy both versions of the game (can't have the complete experience without both), as well as keep some characters a surprise for the Wii U version (until the 3DS version is inevitably hacked and the other character files are found =P)

I was never opposed to their existence, but I'm glad they exist alongside actual Nintendo baddies rather than being the only generic mooks around.

I didn't see them as generic to be honest. I always liked the enemies in Subspace but eh.

They're a lot less generic than say, the Kremlings.

Oh god, that would be awesome yet so not awesome at the same time. Nobody wants to be forced to buy 2 copies of the game to get all playable characters. If anything, you'll get trophies for linking, and nothing more.

What makes you think they're not the Final Smashes? I don't really see where else they could feasibly fit into their movesets.

I would be okay with this.

Or maybe the Wii U version comes with an extra five characters that you get as free DLC for the 3DS version by buying the Wii U version?

I've seen a theory that all the Trophy Quizzes were hinting at future series that would get new characters...Chrom for the Fire Emblem Trophy of Tiki, Ghirahim/Demise for the trophy of Fi, Ridley for that King Kihunter, and of course Palutena.

Empoleon please because I swear on God and country I'll main a penguin based character

King DeDeDe?

I mean, it's possible, but very, very, very, unlikely.

They're a lot less generic than say, the Kremlings.

I didn't mean generic in design, just that they were unbranded nobodies in a game of Nintendo All-Stars. Kremlings are super generic and boring but at least belong to a Nintendo series.

Villager - 10/10
I'm in it for the memes.

Little Mac - 10/10
It's about time Mac is in. Now everyone that didn't buy Punch Out! Wii needs to go play it.

Mega Man - 10/10
Nintendo treats the Blue Bomber much better than Capcom! And that Final Smash looks amazing.

Rosalina & Luma - 10/10
Such a unique play style, I can see this being deadly in the hands of a pro.

Wii Fit Trainer - 10/10
Death by yoga has maximum trolling potential.

Greninja - 10/10
My favorite Kalos starter, I can't wait to cut someone with water blades.

Mega evolution is not their Final Smashes?

Not confirmed. It seems logical, but no confirmation.

That is not a good idea, as I would be essentially forced to buy a Wii U plus Smash for a few more characters. I would hate for them to do that.

Sakurai would be found dead the morning after that announcement. I'm not even sure I'm joking.

Bingo. It's one of the reasons I'm so excited for Smash Run - there are so many awesome enemies they could pull from the various franchises to fight. Pegasus Knights from Fire Emblem, Spydors from Chibi-Robo, various Pokemon, the rock gys from Dillon's Rolling Western...

I bet we get a few franchises repped through Smash Run that we wouldn't get repped otherwise.

Rate the newcomers and how happy you are with their inclusion:

Rosalina - 7/10, pretty unexpected for me but not a bad decision at all.
Little Mac - 9/10, great choice. Seems a great character to play with and I like how they balanced him making him weak at the same time he's very strong.
Wii Fit Trainer - 7/10, never ever I'd thought of her as a character. Doesn't look so bad.
Villager - 6/10, same as Wii Fit Trainer but so far his moveset looks pretty weak.
Greninja - 8/10, looks great. Seems like a strong and fast fighter.
Mega Man 10/10, a dream come true. Since I first thought of what characters could be in Smash 4 this was my “I'd love to see him but he won't be” choice. Glad they approached Capcom.

Charizard does now have a Down-B available... Maybe it's a super move that's charged with Down-B.
That's possible, but what would that mean for Lucario? With their Mega Evolutions being presented together, it would be odd if they were triggered in drastically different ways.

Oh, by the way, do have an idea of what Charizard's new Down-B will be?
Please be Fly like in PM please be Fly like in PM PLEASE BASED SAKURAI

Well, Brawl stages got their own icons like electoplankton, animal crossing and ds stages.

I don't see how the mega evolutions are not final smashes. It is shown along with Greninja's final smash.

Seems like a good nerf.

Yeah, i thought so too. For its utility, it always seemed a bit overpowered. This make sit a bit better. Also like link's bombs, where you'll want to use in air and then fast fall.

Notes on my rating scale : I'm treating 10 as "Couldn't Be More Excited", 5 as "Completely Neutral, Not Excited but Not Bothered" and 1 as "I Wish This Character Wasn't In the Game"

Rosalina 8/10 - More ladies is cool, and a new type of character (Luma should be interesting) is fun, but aesthetically she's always just seemed like a Peach clone to me, that's holding her back from 10/10

Little Mac 7/10 - Seems like a super obvious inclusion, but I feel like the limited move set would get old... and I've never played Punch Out so I have no attachment to the character.

Wii Fit Trainer 3/10 - I'm still confused at this addition, the Yoga moves being offensive is a really flimsy explanation for his/her attacks... the character design is (intentionally) super bland and generic... I don't HATE this character but I am not in the slightest excited about it.

Villager 9/10 - Animal Crossing is probably the game I've put the most cumulative time into in my entire life... Villager's inclusion is SO off the wall and weird, but for some reason I'm excited to see how he works instead of bothered by it like in the case of the Trainer.

Greninja 5/10 - I've never seen this pokemon before the Direct, looks cool but I have no attachment or pre-conceived notions.

MegaMan 11/10 - HE'S BEEN AT A 10/10 SINCE HIS ANNOUNCEMENT BUT THEN I SAW HIS FINAL SMASH AND OMG THERE'S X AND LEGENDS AND BATTLE NETWORK AND EVERYBODY AND I CAN'T BREATHE OH MY GOSH THISISTHEBESTGAMEEVERANDMEGAMANISTHEBESTCHARACTEREVER.
