Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

I'm close to just giving up. It's impossible to beat them, it's impossible because everyone who puts their sign down is a complete and total moron. It's just so frustrating. I can't beat them solo, I can't even get to the boss without dieing. Those knights are too difficult to kill, they just gang rush me.

Get a mace, upgrade it as far as you can. Get a shield with 100% damage block, summon the npc Mage and then go. Just have to have patience for the bottom two. They like to attack you at the same time so punish them after. Just be sure to dodge and move out of their attack range.

Can anyone helpm me with the Ruin Sentinels? Everyone I coop with is a total moron who die too fast. It's absolutely baffling how stupid people are with the RUin Trio. EVERY SINGLE laast person is icapable of healing or doing any damage to the boss. last 2 guys didn't even bother helping me, they just stood outside the gate. I can't get past them and nobody seems to want to help.

If you're looking for people to help, you should probably provide some additional info. What system are you on, which cycle are you on, SL and SM? I don't know if I'm in the range to help you unless I know that information, but if I am, I can try to help out later when I get back to my apartment.

I beat the Ruin Sentinels by my fucking self. My summon died at the last second. We had 3 at one time. They were both spamming that stupid ass windmill attack. I nearly died, I had 1 last attack and then I was fucked. THat one last soul arrow killed the last one right before it was about to kill me. Fuck this low HP sucks.

I just made a top 3 of easiest/hardest bosses for me in Dark Souls II:

HARD
- Ancient Dragon
- Royal Rat Authority
- Smelter Demon

EASY
This game has a lot of easy bosses, so it was hard to pick only three:
- Covetous Demon
- Demon of Song
- Prowling Magus & Congregation

The problem is.. i have a DEX build and don't have enough strength to use the Gyrm shield :( It doesn't matter what kind of protection i use, it's always one hit kill for me.

I never blocked in this fight ever. Just haul ass outside of the fire damage range. In fact I two-handed my weapon and put a stamina regen shield on my back.

Is Drangleic Castle the last 'level' so to speak? I'm at the Looking Glass Knight fight and I'm wondering how much exploring is left after I beat him.

Am I right in thinking that soul memory kinda breaks the whole apostle of the blue covenant?

I mean with the auto summon of blue sentinels or have I just not been lucky enough to be summoned yet at all?
A covenant like this would have definitely worked better in DS1's system imo. There's no incentive to invade in low levels, and Soul Memory prevents twinking. So yeah, being an Apostle is relatively pointless.

I'd almost imagine that the whole covenant was being created during early stages of development, before they came up with the Soul Memory- system.

I'm sure you have two Soul Vessels. Use one to get the stats required, plus some extra stamina. After the fight, go back to your old build if you want.

Is a strength character supposed to be able to get through the shrine of amana or is this where we just stop playing.

I'm seriously close to strangling a mother fucker.

Get a bow+plus Gavlan=you wheelin and dealing them straight to heaven. By that I mean poison arrows, and that whole area becomes simply annoying not hard.

That's a shame I was looking forward to some sentinel action but at my stage it's not going to happen until NG but that's unlikely. I might as well get the Sunlight straight sword from the heirs of the sun...

Nope easy duo in the castle.

Maybe it was a glitch? I never encountered anything similar and I've played quite a bit of co-op. That being said it could be a new problem that I haven't seen since I haven't played any co-op in the last few days.

Oh and btw the skyboxes at the
Lost Bastille
and
Drangleic Castle
are back! :P

Didn't get too far in NG+ last night, explored most of FoFG and took out TLG and the Persuer. It's kind of funny how the game messes with you by throwing red phantoms into the mix. Good stuff.

Also, is it just me or is the Thorned Greatsword (from the Looking Glass Knight's soul) a fantastic weapon? The move set is awesome plus the attacks are very quick for a greatsword.

I beat Royal Rat Authority every time, with ease. Just stay under him, and he can't touch you. He also has like zero defense. I wasted him on NG+ with maybe 3 exhausted stamina meters.

That fight is all about the first 10 seconds. Survive that and it's pretty easy. The key for me as a melee user was a weapon that could take all the little rats in one move (in my case BKH two-handed R2).

Yea, no major trouble with this boss. Even NG+ was easier. I simply spammed Firestorm.

You need to perform 10 sins before it shows up on player status page.
Whaaa? Where do you get that from? I had no sin at all (never aggroed any NPC, never invaded except in Belfry, etc.), then I checked my sin before invading the NPC
Licia
and was at zero. After I killed her, I had sin. So uh... seems pretty cut and dry. It disappeared once a Blue Sentinel killed me.

Speaking of Blue Sentinels, I've joined them now, and the NPC says that you can present a token of fidelity to duel other members of the covenant? Where/how do you do that, exactly?

This is excellent, thank you. I haven't even started that yet but a friend was having trouble.
Cool. It might also help to use the name-engraved ring, by the way.

Sounds about right, at least for NG. I'd put the first D
ragonrider
instead of D
emon
of S
ong
, though. For hardest, I'd put V
endrick
instead of S
melter
.

Rebel Greatshield, mate. I had no bow so I used a raw light crossbow+9 for sniping, but you can run towards them with that shield up and smash their heads in. Watch out for the bleeding critters and Archdrake assholes then though.

It's not the big rat that's the problem for me, it's the small ones. With my dex it was easy enough, I got him second try by sniping every single one before he reached me (my arrow would OHKO them). In NG+ the arrows didn't ohko, and I resorted to Firestorm. On a mage he's trivial. On my melee str... gah. Crossbows wouldn't ohko the small rats and they're to slow to reload anyway, and I didn't have a weapon that fell them all in one swoop. Ended up using a bastard sword to take out two of them, then the other two, and after that it was fine but geez, what a pain.

Ugh, I should probably just make a new character with a low Soul Memory and stick to the Arena. The PVP in "high" levels is just cringe- inducing, and is affecting my ability to enjoy the game.

What's a good Soul Memory range for a 120 level character?

Some additional interesting information, unrelated to your question:
"Wretch"

Achieved by gaining 100 points of sin.
At this rank, your minimum HP as a hollow is no longer capped at 50%. It can be reduced all the way down to 5% HP (dying 19 times from human form).

Giant Lord

Geesh the hitboxes on his sword are terrible. I was literally standing on the other side of him and got one shotted.

Bull shit.

Finally killed that-motherfucker-
Vendrick
with 4 souls. The most difficult boss so far for me as melee. Haven't done AD yet so that might be more difficult after all.

Same for me last night, just got him last night. It was easy to figure out his pattern and keep circling him, but he kept wall humping. Even after I would run back out and get him to the center of the room, he would back steep right back to a wall and I would get lost on the the camera/wall for an instant and BAM 3 hit combo, dead.

Refused to go to bed until I killed him, finally did but was about 1am, have been sleepwalking at work all day today.

How do I get there?

Well, how do you explain my personal experience then? Does invading L
icia
give you 10 points of sin?

I can attest that if invading Licia gives you sin, it's not enough to label you a sinner in your character info screen if you haven't committed a sin before. A bug could also be involved, but I'm not sure which outcome would be the bugged one.

Haha, that's the spirit!

His wall hugging... god damn. That's the real problem indeed.

I have no idea, to be honest. Perhaps a bug? I was not branded a sinner by doing that. I should have 3 points of sin from L
icia
, N
avlaan
and A D
ragon
, and I still have an "-" in my player status. If you did get 10 points of sin for doing that, being killed once by a blue sentinel should put you down to 9 sin and thus "-".
