I am really sure if the wiiU version was released first, the minority would be buying the 3DS version. This is basically the call of duty situation with the wii last gen.

I don't expect Mario Kart 8 to move as many systems as you think it will. And the install base of the 3DS is way bigger. The thing about CoD is that even if all versions were released at the same time, the PS360 had an environment far more conducive to the sales of that type of game, and so the Wii version was always going to sell less. This is not the case with a Nintendo handheld and a Nintendo console.

also sakurai has pointed out samus has a faster and stronger beam attack in a potd.
basically every character has gotten a buff or whatever in some way this time around, he just didnt point it all out.

I'd hope so. From first glance, it seems like the approach to balancing was done by making many characters OP (Lucario and Little Mac), but I assume it'll all look better in practice. In the end, I really just want a faster Samus.

I've updated my roster with the new character reveals!

Totally didn't expect Greninja. I figured Mega Evolutions would be enough X and Y representation... I'm still kinda sour about Pokémon Trainer being cut, and Charizard and Greninja by themselves still feels odd to me (I view starter Pokémon as a set, as they were portrayed in Brawl under Pokémon Trainer), but I'm warming up to it.

With Sheik's reveal as a separate character, I removed Impa. Also, I added Chrom and a Rhythm Heaven character to be in line with the recent rumor. If it really is from the same source that leaked Villager, Mega Man, Wii Fit Trainer, Little Mac, Mii, and Pac-Man, then I think it's believable. Time will tell, I suppose. They got Greninja right, after all. Though Greninja wasn't specified, since they only said "Pokémon from Pokémon X and Y," and while that sounds fake, I can imagine someone with inside information who may not be very familiar with Pokémon saying that if he doesn't have access to the official character names (remember, the same source called Villager "Animal Crossing Guy" prior to E3).

Man, it's kinda scary how similar our thought processes are.

While some choices here still reflect my wants, a lot of it is starting to become more malleable. In particular, while I believe in the Gematsu tipper, I believe that there's also more to this roster that isn't being spoken up on. As of right now, I still put some slight confidence behind Snake, still don't know how to call it with Ridley (personally I feel like no one's going to know his state until Sakurai outright says "yep/nope" or the game releases; the controversy behind him is fueling massive amounts of interest so I could see a situation where this all leads to him playable as much as I can see him being nope'd as of now) and hope to God that our FE newcomer is more than just Chrom as inevitable as it seems. ¯\_(&#12484_/¯

Couch multiplayer for Smash is where its at guys. I'm not saying this game will save the Wii U or anything but THIS is the thing that will make people upgrade or wait. Hell its the reason why 90% of people who play smash play anyway, and its just not something that most people will be able to replicate with the 3DS version.

Anyway, any bets on what Greninja's gimmick is? The rest are pretty much covered:
Villager: Attacks using items
Mega Man: basically ripped straight from the NES games
WFT: deep focus and yoga moves
Rosalina: Luma shenanigans
Little Mac: Ground-based, power meter
Greninja: ?

Even the leaked characters have pretty straightforward gimmicks that it wouldn't be too hard to imagine, like music-based attacks, light traps, customization, etc.

Up Smash - all three boys sing a high note simultaneously aimed towards the sky
Down Smash - all three boys sing a low note simultaneously aimed towards the ground
Special Moves - I suspect these will utilize/summon other characters from the series, like the monkey, Karate Joe, and the wrestler

Basically, a bunch of singing and cameos from within the series. In the (admittedly likely) event that Sal Romano’s source is correct again, I’m sure Sakurai will do the character justice.

when you think back to that direct yesterday, what version did they decide to show off the most, despite the 3DS version coming in summer, after talking about certain things mainly exclusive to the 3DS version, all the footage used for everything else was from the wiiU version, this was very deliberate, ive been watching smash direct reactions and impressions all day and yesterday from regular people and gaming sites, and basically the wiiU version left a much larger impression, some tried to not outright say it but its putting in their minds that the 3DS version can be seen as a "lesser" version then the wiiU version and can be seen as holdover until the wiiU version comes out, I imagine by the time E3 comes around, the wiiU version will still be the most prominently featured.

This is going to effect mindshare alot, theres a reason microsoft pays activision to always show 360 footage or to give more focus to the 360 of COD, its to put in people's minds that "this is the main version, this is what you should buy it on first and foremost" and really, smash is a very local oriented game, built around the TV, it also will be the version that will be played at tourneys which will give it more spotlight.
I'm not saying the 3DS version wont sell or anything, but I think you guys are really downplaying how much the wiU version will sale.

The only odd thing about the second list is how Greninja was simply listed as "Pokémon from XY." Assuming that refers to just one character (and assuming, of course, the list is legit), my guess is this leaker is in a position to see the characters but maybe not close enough to the material to know all their names if he's, say, not familiar with Pokémon. So he sees Greninja, knows it's a Pokémon from XY and remembers that much, but doesn't retain the name when it comes time to pass along his tip to Gematsu.

We just had this discussion a few pages back and in pretty much every way that matters for this discussion he's the same Ridley. It's not like he's just some clone that has no memories of what happened before he died. He really really wants to kill Samus in Other M:

Later, after he reaches level 14 and evolves, he approaches the building Samus is inside of which is being guarded by the squad and he looks up at her. Then he pretty much waits for Samus in the Bottle Ship's version of his boss room and tries to kill her again. He only tries to kill Anthony after Anthony shoots at him.

The only Ridleys that are completely different characters would be that weird robot Ridley from the end of Zero Mission and Ridley X since it was an X copying Ridley. I'm not sure why it matters anyway to whether or not a character is in the game. Smash doesn't seem to care too much about continuities.

3). KOHOLINT ISLAND - LINK'S AWAKENING

There's gotta be at least 1 stage that explicitly references a classic GB title & my vote goes to LA. Obviously the stage has to be the mountain range with the Wind Fish's egg, maybe even the egg itself can be fought on top of or destroyed by fighters. Which causes

I really don't believe that the Wii U version will sell much, if only based on the sales of games that people imagined would be system movers. You could certainly call the Wii U version the main one, but that's something that I don't think will affect the masses. It's more important to the core.

Also, there's more reason to believe he was looking at Samus because she was obviously powerful than because he recognized her; he later uses her to kill the Ki-Hunters for his own benefit.

I see no evidence for this "genetic memory" idea you've talked about other than "Ridley attacks Samus", which applies to every fucking enemy in the game.
