Dai Shogun 01
Neither hidden nor engine, but as the other not-as-hyped mecha show of the season, I was wondering what to expect from this one. The crude animation style looks like it may be on purpose. Every time scenes from an ancient scroll or something like that have been shown in an anime, it's always had that sort of motion comic look to it that this show has. It's a bit jarring, but for now, I'll treat it as a stylistic choice and see if I can adjust. In execution, I was expecting something like Samurai Girls, and with the lewdness level this has, it sort of is. If I had to settle on a final descriptor for it, I'd go with "Edo period Daimidaler". And the casting choices - Kawasumi, Yukarin and Miyukichi - feel like they were chosen to appeal to slightly older anime fans, but they're veterans of their craft. Just gonna have to see what they do here. There hasn't even really been a mecha fight. It's not perfect, but I want to see where it goes.
