I liked that Falcon was a life coach on his down time. Putting sidekicks everywhere on notice.
Falcon was really a great combination of his 616 (former social worker who Cap encourages to become a superhero) and Ultimate (former soldier that ends up becoming a secret agent) versions. The best of both worlds, I think.
I honestly feel like a standalone film for him could totally work. Anthony Mackie has the charisma to carry his own film. Maybe a prequel about
his time in Iraq, the military's development of the suit and the loss of his friend.
I really just want to see this guy in a leading role.

Well that's not much of a comparison :lol but having seen both, I liked Winter Soldier far more. Muppets is alright but isn't anywhere near as fun as the first.

Even completely ignoring the Mandarin stuff I really can't find anything good about IM3. The story was just so terrible and a lot of things didn't make sense.

This movie was amazing. Action, pacing, characters, love it all! I was completely floored with the action choreography, they really upped their game with this movie. The movie's tone and feel is very distinctive different than the first film. I love Evan's Captain America, he's pure badass with that touch of naive with the modern world that make's him so enduring.

Same here. I thought it was better than most of the Marvel films (I'd probably rank it just behind the first Iron Man and The Avengers), but I thought it was still pretty mediocre. Fight scenes were good - easily the best in the MCU to date - but everything else was just...lacking.
I don't think these big CGI explosion palooza blockbuster superhero films are for me any more. I figure they should at least excite or thrill me, but they don't.

Bingo. McGarvey is an Oscar-nominated DP whose pre-Avengers work has always been breathtaking. Seeing people blame him like he suddenly lost all his talent and shot The Avengers like every single one of Whedon's past-productions, while letting Whedon off is hilarious.
One doesn't go from Atonement down to The Avengers and back to the quality of Anna Karenina for kicks. Whedon's lit-for-TV aesthetic was all over The Avengers.
The contrast of the scene right after that is what sells it. One of my favorite scenes in the movie because of it.

HYDRA interesting, the MGS route is perfect. If Red Skull does come back with a new actor I wonder if he'll wear a mask like he sometimes did in the comics, as a result of having a new body. Thank god they ditched the Hydra fist, "Hail HYDRA" is fine though.

Finally saw it. It's easily the best MCU film. The writing was great despite the usual comic book cheese lines thrown in, the plot was engaging and really fun to follow, nothing too surprising but I thought it was executed really well. It ties back very heavily to the first film, yet feels nothing like the first film or any other Marvel movie in tone. In fact it feels more like a Bourne movie than a superhero movie, though unlike the Bourne movies it has more than 2 action scenes and they actually show off the fighting and action well. And yes, the action scenes are great and there is plenty of them.
So yeah, really enjoyed it. I would recommend re-watching Cap 1 if you haven't seen it in a long time or have never seen it, because some of the plot points and scenes will definitely be more satisfying. If you hate the first one and never want to glance at it again, see this one anyways because it has nothing in common tonally.

Oddly Cap 1 actually did better business on its 4th and 5 th days (Monday and Tuesday) than Cap 2.
Is this just due to Summer vs. Spring and kids being in school? I've never compared school-year weekday box office to summer weekday boxoffice before.

My gf and I are going to see it again this weekend. We can't stop talking about how good it was. We ended up watching the first CA last night just to tide us over, lol.
My girlfriend said something that I can kind of agree with: Evans in CA:TWS acted more like Superman / Clark Kent than Cavill did in Man of Steel. It's his friendly, trusting, approachable do-gooder attitude coupled with a natural leader aspect that seals it, Evans just personifies it so well. I'm not saying Cavill couldn't do it, but the character he portrayed in Man of Steel was totally bereft of that aspect.

Saw it today, thought it was awesome. SWERVES everywhere. GSP had the most interesting fight of his life. Cap did a half nelson suplex and Tazmission. The whole movie felt like all of the Metal Gear games rolled into one with a coherent story. Lots of violence and death. Robert Redford has some Newman's Own in his fridge.
This feels like it has (or should have) more of a big time, lasting impact on the entire MCU than even The Avengers. I'm glad Marvel is taking things in a way different direction that I expected and I'm excited to see where they take it over the next few years. It makes me want to watch AOS and see where that show goes from the events of this movie. I hope Phase 2 and 3 continue with the direction of TWS and less of The Dark World. Not that I disliked The Dark World, but there is a pretty huge gulf in....everything from it to TWS.
There are SO many ways the MCU can go after this and I hope they continue to take risks. GOTG being made at all fills me with hope. I went from negative hype to being fully on board for that after the stinger on TDW and trailer before this. I'm ready. What's really impressive to me is how well Marvel has handled the character of Cap while DC has no idea what to do with Superman. They're pretty similar and fill the same roll in their universe. Granted, Marvel also has had 3 movies with the same character and actor and DC has had 2 different types of movies with 2 different actors, but they also didn't come close to nailing the tone and character with either Superman movie as Marvel has with any of the 3 movies Cap has been in. I want to watch The Avengers and to prepare myself I've been watching all of the character films (Iron Man, Captain America: First Avenger, Thor). Which Hulk movies are "canon" in the MCU series so it clicks in with The Avengers?

I just watched it a few hours ago. I thought it was pretty good. Only slightly worse than the first Iron Man.
The movie might as well have been called "Swere"
Superman has always been "weird" to bring to big screen. Some of the early works have been good but translating the character in a modern world has been sloppy for DC. At times tho every since Nolan, I feel WB is a little more "ashamed" of comic heritage while as of late Marvel has been willing to get away from the "grounded" approach.

Yeah. But Sam Rami's Hulk is worth watching for different reasons. Its not part of the MCU and I'm not even sure how good I'd call it but its a very very....interesting movie.

The 2003 Hulk is technically part of the canon, as the situation it ends with (Bruce going to South America to hide out) is referenced in broad strokes in Incredible Hulk. I'd so both are worth watching, even the former (due to the fact that it feels so... unlike a Hulk film).
