Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

I apologize if this has already been postulated/mentioned, but since the character's name is "Rosalina & Luma" I don't think the Luma needs to be summoned. Like the Ice Climbers, you probably just start with Luma to begin with. It doesn't seem like (from any footage I've seen at least) that Luma can be knocked away/killed. The only time I've seen Rosalina without Luma is during the Up-B special move example, and it's hard to tell whether Rosalina is actually by herself or if the Luma is still on the main stage platform.

Sakurai Mentioned that Luma can be summoned if it is killed in a POTD I think. I want to say it's with Neutral Special as well, but I'd have to look.

Edit: NVM he says, "Pic of the day. A Luma becomes a star. Lumas are tough, but can also be blown away. Luckily, there's an infinite number of them"

Edit some more: It's her Neutral Special. Going from the first trailer. She summons it with that.

GASP....I'm sure you guys have discussed this....but it seriously just hit me:

DLC Characters and stages post-launch.....do you think they'll do it??? They seem to be exploring DLC a lot more these days.....

What is GAF's take? Did they talk about this in anyway already?
It is up to Sakurai and what he wants to do post-launch. I bet Nintendo would love to finance him, but he might want to move on. Plus complications with Namco.

Giving one DLC character per month, and including them all with the Wii U version at launch, would be a brilliant strategy.

Akuma is there because he represented a character that united Capcom and Marvel into the same universe aka Marvel Vs. Capcom since he appeared in one of Marvel fighting game.

That's entirely fan speculation. I'm certain Akuma was only chosen because he was a popular, "badass" character that would be easy to implement. MvC3 really dropped the ball with a lot of their character choices and how they were implemented.

TvC has the best VS roster. No other VS roster is touching that sort of variety.

Just checked out that Metroid Prime 2 thread and I just realized how badly I want a Rezbit as a stage hazard/AT/item in a Smash game later down the line.

It'd be so fucking hilarious having some character get their buttons remapped mid match or needing to input a prompt to get them back into working order.

I would laugh if Rosalina can set up some infinite with the Luma

I'm calling the first one I see the "Star Platinum Loop."

So, a question! If an Assist Trophy from Brawl was to be playable, who would you choose? (Obviously Little Mac is out.) You can only choose one!

TvC has the best VS roster. No other VS roster is touching that sort of variety.

26 playable characters to 50 playable characters. It's bound to have some staleness. (Nova you disappoint me. Lol.) And with characters already having a moveset, since it's the third game.

We'd probably have better choices if we got those extra 8 characters as well. Akuma is Akuma, he's there because of popularity, and is easier to put in.

Gene.. Why! :(

I'm not sure what you mean by that. UMvC3 has a much larger roster with a lot of diverse characters. The only Capcom characters in TvC who aren't in UMvC3 are Batsu, MegaMan Volnutt, Saki, Roll, Alex, and Kaijin no Soki; I'd take the likes of Dante, Wesker, Phoenix Wright, Arthur, Firebrand, Haggar, Vergil, Strider Hiryu, and so on over them in a heartbeat.

I like mahevl 3 better.
That one is WAY more diverse. And has the sons of sparda.

And Rocket racoon, nova and iron fist

Bah....I forgot about the Namco stuff. And I'm sure Sakurai wants to do something different. Damn.

I keep thinking that the Wii U version...being in development for longer than 3DS....wouldn't that mean the Wii U version could potentially have extra characters? I know they keep saying they'll have the same roster, but for it to be in development longer, I would hope for something a little more other than being prettier......hmmm....

I was about to post Isaac, but, thinking about it, it could be awesome to get Dr. Wright as a playable character if they could incorporate city building mechanics into his moveset.

That's an easy one. Excite Biker.

It'd be nice to have another character who fights with a bike like Wario does.

I think they'll do it, too much money on the table not to. It would be an awful waste if they didn't, anyway.

If that Smash 6 listing for next year is real, then it could be possible since they'd still have a Smash team at Namco and could put aside some staff to work on DLC. If it's a mistake though, not likely, since the game is even developed in Namco's building. There seems to be no Smash team at Nintendo right now, and I doubt Namco's team would stay united just to work on dlc if they aren't going to work in another game for Nintendo.

Waluigi. If more than one, Knuckle Joe, Excite Biker, and Tingle.

Also, that avatar is oddly adorable.

I forgot to say that only one can be chosen. :P

Man, this avatar is really backfiring on Hyperactivity. Lol.

you know which one i want

I don't want to disappoint you, but i'm disappointing you. I really don't know. Lol.

sounds like this is turning into the Marvel vs Capcom thread

:P

Get out of here! You.. something.

I honestly don't know, and I am trying not to guess because it will build unrealistic expectations.

The same thing I did with Brawl:
Set up me vs. AI at 500% damage and mash "A" for 3 hours while reading GAF. Fastest way to unlock all the characters.

Do what I did and do Stamina Mode (1HP) + Flower Mode + Lightning Mode + Curry and have a controller with a turbo button and apply it to start. ;)

And lol@MarvelGAF invading SmashGAF.

With Namco developing, I guess DLC characters could be time locked like Tekken.

As far as DLC goes, Samurai has gone on record stating they do not have any plans at this time. Their goal is to offer a complete game, and thinking about DLC at this time is not conducive to that.

I do think Nintendo and Sakurai will be keeping an eye on the game and the community and that DLC will eventually happen, but it won't be something planned in advance, and may be 6 months to a year down the line.

While I do think the MvC3 cast had several unique picks, they were overshadowed by the shoot shoot bang bang teleport eight way dash laser beam omnislash characters that permeated the entire roster. Even if they played differently, there was too much of one type of character, an issue that was compounded by how much they dominated the online and competitive space. For me, there was just more of a chance of a varied battle in TvC, in terms of moveset and character design.

I don't have a turbo controller. I wish that was a standard feature these days.

I have never seen any of these dudes post in the Marvel OT. But there is a ton of overlap between Marvel and Smash fans.

While we're on the topic of MvC, how would you feel if Meta Knight got a damage buff whenever his mask gets cracked?
If anything, Metaknight would get a damage nerf and would probably get an automatic ring-out teleporting somewhere else to grab a mask. He's incredibly shy about his actual face.
