I'm from Spain and a year ago me and my girlfriend decided to move to Mexico for a while, my
girlfriend only had a shitty part-time job in spain that she was always complaining and I'm
selfemployed so we had nothing to loose.

The first months in Mexico were great, she found a job in a store and my designs were selling great.

But then...as time passed I was less and less happy, the city is boring, my girlfriend was robbed on the street,
I have to pay a big brive every fucking time I renew my visa for six months, my girlfriend's sallary is so
ridiculous that she can't even afford to buy a christmas present for herself.

The point is...I don't want to be here anymore, Mexican people are great and friendly but I don't know...I feel like
I don't belong here, we have very different cultures.

The problem is that my girlfriend doesn't want to come back to spain, she says she's happy here and she's not coming back...

I don't know what to do...we've been together for five years, I can't leave her alone in Mexico (although she has a couple of friends here) , feels wrong to me.

I know that the fact that she prefers to stay in Mexico alone than coming back to Spain with me says there's something wrong in our relatioship...but then
again...I can't leave here alone.

(Sorry for my English :S)

Any advice GAF?

Go back to Spain. You obviously don't like it there and she is a grown adult who can make her own decisions. You have no reason to feel guilty for leaving or feel obligated to stay there. Sometimes life gets in the way of relationships. This seems to be one of those times.

You shouldn't be in a place where you're unhappy. But your girlfriend also doesn't have to leave the country if she doesn't want to.

Either one of you folds or you go separate ways. You're happiness also counts, man.

Your English is fine :). Don't stay in a place where you aren't happy. If you guys aren't meant to be, that's just how it is. But someone has to compromise or you both have to go your separate ways. Don't be miserable because you don't want to leave her alone. Do what makes you happy and that's it.

You sound like you need the Euro-centric, metropolitan kind of life, and it sounds like you're not getting it where you are right now. If you absolutely have to stay in Mexico, have you looked into Mexico City and its suburbs or any of the resort cities?

Thanks guys, as you say she's a grown adult but I still fell terribly bad about leaving her alone in Mexico...

Well, if you stay someplace you are not happy you are likely going to ruin the relationship and you'll both end up being alone in Mexico, just with you two resenting and hating each other.

Maybe you can try a South American country with a better economy like Argentina or something? Just shooting from the hip with ideas.

edit: Apparently Mexico's economy is better off than Argentina according to some quick googling...but it would seem to be more European in nature than Mexico? I dunno.

Money is not the problem, in fact..I want to go back to Spain because I've been earning a lot of money in 2013 with my freelance work that I don't see the point of staying in Mexico.
