That's completely psychological. All you're getting extra is a piece of plastic. As someone that travels a lot stuff like that just becomes a burden and is no more than useless clutter.

You're paying for the game not a piece of plastic or an icon on your home screen.

Sadly, nowadays this is more accurate than ever. I'm more of a collector type, and since I don't travel much, I like displaying my game cases, and collecting semi-"rare" games. Feels nice to have a limited edition in my shelf.
I also want to mention the regional stuff, importing and its non-existence in digital form, aside from changing store regions (without mentioning region locking, which is a non-issue in PS3 and Vita).

Well yeah, there are games where there's not choice. I only own one physical cart for the Vita which is God Eater 2 because that was the only option. Not too bad since I can just leave it in the slot 24/7 and it's not a hassle.

On the other hand my 3DS/DS collection is a pain in the ass and I'll probably just have to sell it all off at some point.

While I've never been a collector I still understand the sentiment about having a nice lineup on your shelf. Other than the obvious cart switching issue one thing that really killed it for me was how often Vita games get patched nowadays. Always knowing that the carts on my shelf are incomplete (and sometimes completely broken) games, with the only way to get the most updated version being to download a mandatory digital component makes me feel like I should've just went digital in the first place (this is also psychological of course).

Seeing pages of bubbles on my home screen and being able to access any of the games instantly seems like it'd provide more utility for me than a row of cases at this point but like I said, I'm way too deep in to switch now.

Australia, we get horrible download caps here and not so great internet speeds either. (that and i'm with one of the most expensive providers here at the moment so upgrading isn't really a option, can always switch providers if i'm really desprate though)

That could have changed with labors fibre optic nbn plan but alas liberal got in and we're doomed to stay with slow internet. >.<

Could be worse though, my friend that recently moved to New Zealand has to deal with only 40gb a month now.
You can always backup to your PC.
You know that actually never occurred to me, I probably should do that sometime. Thanks!

I got tons of space on my 360 DVD shelf for portable games. Console games on the other hand. Jesus. Barely any. I sold a bunch of ps3 games. Digital is great because it doesn't take up physical space. But the barrier of entry for vita digital only is quite high.

I'm Australian too and I've got a 1TB plan on ADSL2+ with iiNet, who are you with?

But yeah, Abbott will make sure we stay in the dark ages indeed.

I'm with Telstra, my mum went with them due to being on the same phoneplan with them awhile back and didn't want to go through the hassle of having to switch anything.

Whoa, I didn't know iiNet had 1TB plans now. They were actually who I had in mind for if I ever switched providers so it's nice to see them always improving their plans, it might be a good time for me to look into them further.

As for Abbott I feel as though this is relevant:

So it was confirmed that SoulSac Delta is digital only outside of Japan?
For Europe at least. I'm not sure about America but I'd assume it's the same there.
All signs point to yes but some retailers have a physical listed for some reason. I'd laugh my ass of if there was a physical and it was a stealth release.
EBGames Aus still have Muramasa Rebirth listed for a retail release with a placeholder price and have for months.

While I do find digital much more convenient on Vita than retail (or one retail release and mostly digital) I certainly do feel as though it's a bit of a peril once you hit max storage and have to reshuffle/delete stuff, especially for someone like myself who has to deal with 100gb download cap every month if I want to redownload them.

That and the price of entry for upgrading memory cards, but with that said lower amounts of storage on the PSP cost way way more here in Australia before they pricedropped (were around $200 for a 32gb at one stage if I remember right) so they don't bother me on the Vita as much as they did back then on the PSP. (which is probably why I'm still on a 4gb memory stick and never upgraded back when I didn't use ebay or online stores) I always drive a hard bargain :3

Just use your PC or PS3 to hold the fridge, no need to redownload

Think I'm going to sell my vita OLED+32GB card, and replace with a white+green vita 2000+64GB card

Whelp, that's too bad. Guess I'll stick to Freedom Wars.

Might check the webstore for your country. But this is what it says in the description for the PS3 version
Purchase of the PlayStation®3 system version of this game entitles you to download the PlayStation®Vita system version of this game at no extra cost.

Then for the PSV version
Purchase of the PlayStation®Vita system version of this game entitles you to download the PlayStation®3 system version of this game at no extra cost.

Looks good either way in this case (According to AU PSN Store)

The prices are from the webstore, guess I'll buy the PS3 version then, thanks man!

I finished Tearaway last week and forgot to post about it:

It was pretty alright. If I were a cynic I'd call it "Gimmick: The Game (not made by Nintendo)" but I actually found most of the stuff pretty charming. I already knew it'd be more of an adventure game rather than a platformer but it had some nice sections from time to time, at least in theory. Conceptually they did some cool stuff with the front and back touch but it sadly doesn't lead to any exciting gameplay because of the complete lack of challenge and the incredibly generous checkpointing.

What I liked however was that the world felt like this huge living, breathing thing. The look of the game, especially the animations, and how you interact with the world really made it appear as an actual thing inside your Vita and was what kept me going. It's been a while since I've played a game with such a compelling world even though they only scratched the surface of what they could have done with it.

Sadly, by the halfway point I was already starting to get bored but I'm still glad I stuck with it to the end and got to see the ending. Ultimately Tearaway didn't live up to the hype for me and I'll be most likely selling it back.

WOW man so VitaGaff is happier than ever
bunch of announcements

Freedom Wars
Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines
Soul Sacrifice Delta
Tales of Heart R
Dead Nation

This is the year of JRPG Vita revival!

Just finished the game yesterday (i actually bought the tearaway vita bundle), and i kinda feel the same, the presentation was awesome, the graphics and the music were really top notch for me, but ultimately the gameplay was pretty mediocre with almost no challenge at all, its an overrated/overhyped game but a good game nonetheless.

I'd like a more expanded and challenging sequel someday, but i doubt it considering the sales.

I've been out for a day and all that stuff happened? Wow.

I think I read previously that Soul Sacrifice Delta is download only, right? And ToH a GameStop exclusive. Do we know something about a EU release for this game?

It looks like an amazing year for the Vita after all. Those are 4 new exclusives for the system. This sure is #20V1T4.

If next month is better than this (In the past 30 days our bolder, my father's laptop, our PC, our car, the washing machine and the dryer all broke) I'll start to buy the game I wasn't able to get during the past few months. Ys, DR and FF.

I dont think SSD will be download only, they know better than that, as a matter of fact i think all of this games will have retail versions, althou in the blog is not confirmed neither is confirmed they are bringing these titles only as downloads.

a few questions before I sell of my Vita? do I just have to reset the Vita to factory defaults and not worry about anything?

I removed my 64GB, reset to defaults (it prompted me to deactivate my Vita as well) and inserted the 4GB. anything else I should do?

I'm thinking of selling my 32GB now... I can see myself actually getting a 128GB down the line.. Going full digital on the Vita is the best thing ever.

Hmm I actually thinking of getting those SFbags Waterfields? pouch for the Vita

anyone got thoughts?

32GB memory card - KEEP or SELL?

and.. no one using these cases?

psvita-case-kiwi-lg.jpg

I don't use a case for mine. Can't really see the point as I keep nothing that could possibly scratch it in my bag.

I pretty much just have a screen protector on it..

The plan is to release it only on PSN, tho:

(See the 5th answer).

Thread got crowded this night, reminded me of ye ole vitagaf threads~

As for cases: I have a basic generic one for the 1000, and ordered a basic Hori one with the 2000, but it was replaced by a Hori hard case as it was sold out (and superufo doesnt like to tell whats sold out on their site).
Will post some impressions or something when it arrives.

I have one for my 3DSXL. It's nice but not worth the price unless you take it outside all the time.

Do what you want with the card man :p that's your call.

hmm I'm currently using the PDP Folio Case... I only bring out the Vita case though.
the 32GB memory card is a problem... not sure whether to keep it for a possible secondary Vita (yes probably a 2K or 3K... and not another OLED) or a Vita TV.

hmm how's the quality on 3DS XL? I'm using a kiddy case :X (for 3DS XL)

hmm. so you just dump it in your bag? :X

I prefer just a basic ass case. I mean if you like a more stylistic case go for it.

hmm which case are you using?

I like convience of not having a case :)

hmmm.. how about screen protector? I'm not sure if I should re-apply Skinomi on my Black Vita :/

hmm and I totally ruined my first HORI screen protector.. ><

Quality's great as you'd expect from the price but I don't use it enough outside to be worth it haha.

And the 2K Vita is great, if you ever get one I think you would be pleasantly surprised with just how good it is.

Why every time Vita has good news such as these 5 games there is new Vita is Doomed conversations going on in those new "Vita Threads"?

It's all about balance. After a wave of LTTP threads and announcements where all was love and happiness the world needed some Vita bashing.

A little off-topic but yesterday I went to the cinema to watch Need for Speed. Seriously, what was that shit? Really, really bad film. I don't feel like they stole me because I paid 3€ for 2 films. Otherwise I'd be really angry.

And it wasn't that hard to make it good. You only need cars (don't have to be luxury cars), some pursuits, hot women, a simple story and a hot main character (to please women that go to see the film too xD).

Something like Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) would have worked a lot better.

Just pretend it's a Breaking Bad sequel
