Hmm? Did I miss an announcement? I've only been reading this thread lately, lol.I still think the Smash 6 thing was Soul Calibur.

unfortunately, all the qualifiers are being streamed on MLG's lame streams![]()
Oh, MLG's streams are bad? I don't really follow any pro-gaming, but I'm trying to watch more of the Smash scene. Is there a calendar of qualifiers on MLG's website?

That's so antiquated though. Who says there will be a squeal? Who says they will ever have the same devs working on the title 3-4 years down the line. Why not keep them around a little longer to finish up that additional content and release it to the public. Then you don't need to shoehorn left over ideas into a new squeal. The DLC doesn't even have to be all paid for. I'm guessing any characters added will be Free while stages and other things will have a small fee.
Oh, OK. Yeah, sounds possible. Weren't there interviews, though, or something to suggest that internally these games are being called SSB4 and SSB5 (presumably the 3DS and WiiU versions, respectively)? Doesn't prove or disprove anything, of course, but my inner hype machine would love it if they have a long-term plan for this that includes an eventual update. No announcement, but the description matches Soul Calibur. Sixth game is next, sales numbers match as described, Namco-Bandai would be doing the hiring for it.
I think the person just got the name wrong.
The Greninja being as flat as Paper Mario is more telling. All that effort and then he ruins it by plonking down an official render of the Blue Shell whose angle doesn't match the rest of the image.
I still think the Smash 6 thing was Soul Calibur.
Not to say all DLC ever is good, but if you honestly think games were complete on disc before DLC, you don't know what you're talking about.
Hell, even in Smash, DLC would have gotten characters in that just couldn't be finished in time.
90% of games are as complete on disc as they have always been, the only difference now is those "Hey, what if we added this thing?" ideas may actually lead to things that eventually see the light of day.
Yeah, there's a lot of errors, but the use of art many have seen lots of times before was the first thing that stuck out to me.The Greninja being as flat as Paper Mario is more telling.
It listed the Wii U and 3ds as systems though, didn't it? I'll be surprised if Soulcalibur 6 is released for those two...
schedule for the 9 qualifiers
as you can see, we're about to get one for each of the next 6 weeks, including a double dip on May 4
then after that MLG/CEO/Evo are all within a 3 week span, damn that's a busy schedule coming up

The only good thing about Ridley to come out of Other M was his theme. Best one IMO
I feel like the number is lower than that 90%, but otherwise I think this is fair. I also think that some games are built with "cheat DLC" in mind, like the sort found in Fire Emblem and SMTIV. I think that is also distasteful. Not to say all DLC ever is good, but if you honestly think games were complete on disc before DLC, you don't know what you're talking about.

It's also literally the only piece of discernible music from the game that that particular character in the trophy is from, so I wouldn't look too far into it. Other M's OST is just awful outside of that one song.Dunno if it would be relevant but the Ridley boss music that plays during the Metroid Trophy quiz segment is the Other M Ridley boss theme.
It gives me a bad feeling that he won't be playable if those trophies are in fact hints at series' witb playable characters but it could always be that they used music from the latest entries in the franchises, too.

A "right" way of doing DLC doesnt exist. If a team wants to add content they do it BEFORE releasing the game. Then, after proper testing the game (so it doesnt need patches after launch) they release the game with the content that they want (what they have done during the last 2/3 years, thats enough). Now, after releasing the game, the team (or some people of the team) can start working on something else (whatever nintendo wants). If they are going to make a sequel, they can use the ideas that they didnt use in this one in the sequel. End. You pay for the game once. Everyone pays for the game once, and everyone plays the same content. That content is enough or, at least, it was enough before DLC started
(in my irrelevant opinion)
Why not start when the game goes gold? That way you can potentially have the DLC ready a week before the game hits the shelves.

With how great Nintendo has handled dlc in games like FE:A and now Mario golf I would totally be ecstatic if we for smash dlc, I'd gladly pay for more characters, stages, items, etc. Biggest thing that kills it for this game is that without an account system you'd effectively have to buy the dlc twice so it probably won't happen![]()
I'm kind of surprised that FE:A's getting cited as an example of good DLC. It works as an example of a game that's fully featured without being gutted for extra profits, but damn was it ever overpriced.
*high fives*Yes, I'd LOVE to have playable Lucina. Her mask can be an alt, but I want her default form to be her unmasked with her hair flowing behind her. Just make her a Marth clone with tweaked properties (I.E. lighter, etc).
I still can't get over Link's Wii U face. Oh god lol

Are you me? I thought I was the only one still so hung up on it.

I bought all of them, no regrets.I still have 2 or 3 more I haven't beaten lol
I bought the dlc abilities, money pack, Future of despair, and the strongest one's name. Was worth it lol.I bought all of them, no regrets.I still have 2 or 3 more I haven't beaten lol

I love how the pixels illustrating Kirby are clearly much sharper than the pixels illustrating the stage he's in. Clearly the person making the fake put as much attention to detail as possible!lol the images in the twitter account linked in that video
Most games overprice DLC. That is what makes it worthwhile for the company.I'm kind of surprised that FE:A's getting cited as an example of good DLC. It works as an example of a game that's fully featured without being gutted for extra profits, but damn was it overpriced.
Aren't DLC characters usually banned in the competitive scene?

This is why I'm not worried about the roster this time around.

If Sakurai was concerned that time would prevent him from doing everything he wanted to, I'm pretty sure we'd get DLC. That way, we avoid a Brawl situation where, presumably, characters like Mewtwo and Roy go undeveloped because time did not allow for their completion.Problem is that DLC isn't guaranteed yet.

The 3DS XXXL in purple.Random question but does anyone think there will be a themed Smash Bros 3DS XL at all?
