The sad thing, is we literally had the same exact discussion last night.

And funny how the talking points/responses are the same.

Wonder if this will be the next 2 years. :(
It will be. People talk nonsense until the movie comes out and is a huge success. Then the game changes again, and so does popular opinion on how something absolutely has to be done or bust.

Heath Ledger is turrible. Avengers is gonna get murked.

I'm not even tryna stan for this movie because it could certainly turn out poor. But I'd at least like to wait to see a plot synopsis or a trailer or at least a fucking title before I decide if it's going to be bad

It's one thing to not like the casting; that's cool. Even I'm not entirely sold on Gal Gadot. But declaring the movie a trainwreck based on rumors and your own idea of how superhero movies should work just seems odd to me. Why not wait for something more substantial to chew on?

Lets hope for the Bearded/hook hand version
Let's...let's not.

^I think black panther will be a side part in Cap 3. Probably test the waters a bit and see how the crowdresponds

Edit: martian manhunter will be saved for JL imo

I WANT it to be good

But I know it could just as easily turn out horribly.

But yeah casting announcements are small fry.

Really the first real mental test will be the costume reveals.

This movie sounds like a train wreck waiting to happen. How did this go from Superman and Batman to fucking adding Wonder Woman, Cyborg and Aquaman! WTF !!!

edit: is Batman-News.com the only source for this? Because that is not the most solid of sources.

Batman-News is very reliable and the guy that runs it is not the type to post click-bait or unbelievable rumors unless he's confident what he's posting is accurate so I'd trust him. He was one of the first to post that Anne Hathaway was auditioning for TDKR I believe.

Also it's getting really tiring seeing the same exact posts (literally, the same EXACT posts) in every single topic made about this movie. Maybe someday we can discuss news about it instead of hearing how "This is going to be a miserable bloated train wreck and WB has no idea what it's doing since they're not copying Marvel and since they're casting a bunch of characters to set up their future movies/universe and also isn't this supposed to be a Superman movie what ever happened to him?!?!" a billion times.

Waiting to see Wonder Woman's costume got me legit shook.

I'm hopeful cause I liked the costume design in MoS. But I just know they're gonna put her in a pair of the ugliest pants the world has ever seen. lol

I thought Man of Steel was supposed to be a more realistic Superman. How are they going to switch it and make it plausible, with all these other superheroes?

...there's nothing realistic about invincible aliens.

Cool. Thanks for vouching.

I'm betting armored skirt.

Snyder.

I don't know. Maybe it's a cameo. This late in the game, I can't imagine it's a major thing.

We'll see when we actually get an idea of what the damn story is...

It was? That's news to me. Good that it's already established in the universe though, noe they just need to realise it and cast BP.

yup.

I'm going to make a totally outside prediction and say that he's going to be Martian Manhunter.

Also I bet if Momoa is in this for real it's partially a reaction to passing on Guardians of the Galaxy (he was offered Drax) and realizing he was missing out on a bunch of cash and steady employment.

Making a World's Finest movie with a supporting role from Wonder Woman and cameos from Aquaman and Cyborg.
yeah, this is my assumption as well. aquadude will probably just show up to tell them to leave it out of the ocean or some shit, and maybe do some assist work in the final battle against the big bad of the movie.

If Aquaman, great casting, but Exhibit S why DC still hasn't learned shit from how Marvel built their MCU and what made it successful. Too much up front with not enough to work off of. People will have trouble latching onto any character if there's not even groundwork for them already, especially considering people are already cozy with the MCU.

I don't get this, I bet a good 65% of the people that watched Avengers on theaters didn't watch any of the previous movies. If anything Avengers boosted the popularity of 'unknowns' like Thor and Black Widow.

Do you really need to tell the audience who Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman are?

How else would people know the deepest fears, inner thoughts and true motivations of these characters if we don't give them crappy solo films like Thor, Iron Man 2 and good chunks of Iron Man 3 and Captain America?

pulling stats out of your ass? based on all the kids i saw dressed as cap, thor, and iron man waiting in line, im gonna doubt that

Unless you're the type to get offended over Snyder sexualizing the character, i'd say it's safe to not be legit shook.

The pants vs skirt thing could go either way. I imagine we'll see both in time, maybe the shorts too.

Making a JLA movie without building the franchises?

Gonna be a disaster. They need to learn from Marvel.

Yeah man, we need a two hours movie telling the audience who Batman is and then insert a 1 minute post-credits scene to build up a Cinematic Universe.

How? You haven't heard anything about the plot? You don't know how the characters will be used and in what context. Hell, "Cyborg" might not even be "Cyborg". Wasn't Vic Stone a football player before his accident? Wasn't there a football sequence filmed for the movie? How do we know that's not where we see him?

The skirt has always been my choice because I think it fits the character, but I don't object to the pants. Not on principle, at least. My problem is that every WW in pants design I've seen either doesn't work with the character or is just kind of ugly and drab.

Tbh, Wonder Woman is the only character who really "needs" an origin movie. The others though? There's nothing interesting about Flash's origin; he just falls ass backwards into some powers. Aquaman's origin can be told in like a few lines of dialogue ("I'm the King of Atlantis"). Same with MM ("I'm the last Martian."). Cyborg's origin will likely be a b-plot in JLA. Green Lantern already had a movie. Granted, no one saw it, but even GL isn't that hard to explain.

Speaking as one of the few Aquaman fans around these parts, I don't think anyone would be too torn up if Arthur had brown hair instead of blonde. We'd all probably be too giddy over Aquaman actually being in a movie. lol

Agreed. Very good and succinct way to put it.

I can't tell anymore if these types of post are all out trolling or not.

While all of us no doubt, at the very least, appreciate Marvels approach with MCU, it is not the only way to make a team up comic book movie.

WB, or Snyder and Affleck I should say, are clearly crafting what looks to be at least, a 2 entrée feast that's looking to skip the appetizers. They're gonna get right down to it. I think between the two movies, they'll have more than enough time to flesh out all these characters.

One movie at a time. This movie is all Batman and Superman. Maybe Wonder Woman has a significant role this time out, but no way anyone beyond that is just seed planting.

Let WB do their thing. I can't understand not like something, but what good is it to bitch about it on GAF over and over and over and over and over...

Any ways, think about the explosion of DC Movie Universe that's about to go down.

id like them to use his silver age origin, but that would probably step on supes toes

read the peter david stuff

I'm a bit confused, if all these superheroes are already established during man of steel universe, then where are they during man of steel events?

How is it so challenging?

They introduced 7 superheroes in a 22 minute cartoon almost a decade ago with absolutely no problems.

It was called Justice League, and it was one of the best adaptations of the DC Universe that's ever been.

The idea that you need solo movies to explain something as basic and well-understood as the concept of a superhero is weird.

im so happy you have this unwavering faith that wb will deliver a good movie! it's totally not hard, right?

I don't think it's the complete impossibility others seem to consider it, no. Mostly because nobody knows what the fuck the story actually is.

Nobody really seems to care, though, either.

I can't imagine Wonder Woman's costume won't be of the greek warrior variety.
