Who wants to bet he's just talking about gears of war, forza, halo, quantum break, etc.
I want neither right now. I'm pretty much a PC convert at this point. First and second party exclusives are what make things interesting for me. I can see myself picking up one of these systems down the road as their libraries grow. Money hats and timed exclusives aren't compelling to me.I see no problem in buying exclusives. This is a business and they do wanna sell consoles. If a game is better on PS4 why not take away any other competitors. Just gotta save and get both bruh
By 'offering exclusives', do they mean buying them or making them? I don't mean to take such a negative stance on them as they try to turn things around, but it gets old seeing things that don't need to be exclusive become exclusive.
I don't understand this dislike of buying exclusives. What's the problem?
There are exciting times ahead for gamers if Phil Spencer has anything to do with it. The new head of Xbox has spoken with CNN Money and speaks about the importance of listening to feedback from customers so that products are tailored to meet specific needs. Responding to a question about the change in decision to protect games with DRM, Spencer says that he told the vocal opposition to heart -- "I took it personally -- you'd be hard-pressed to find someone at Xbox who didn't".
Moving forward, Xbox One owners should have some sensational titles to look forward to as there will be a strong focus on exclusive games for the platforms. Long gone are the days of being able to find the same games available for every console, in the modern age of gaming it is the exclusive titles that pull in customers -- as demonstrated perfectly by the likes of Titanfall and Ryse: Son of Rome.
Titanfall wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for MS.Funding exclusives, ala Bayonetta 2, where it just wouldn't have happened, is good. Buying exclusives, ala Titanfall, is not.

Make an RPG like Alpha Protocol only with better gameplay, voice acting and visuals
Who's going to make it?

WordThis is just like Shu saying Sony has exciting things planned for E3 etc. Of course they are going to say the things people want to hear.
Last i checked those were exclusive. If you're implying that is all they will have at E3, you're likely in for a rude awakening.Who wants to bet he's just talking about gears of war, forza, halo, quantum break, etc.
I hope this means they'll be funding the development of more exclusive games instead of buying exclusivity of already-developed games. Add to the industry, don't subtract from it.

What role will exclusive games play in this generation of the console battle, especially as fewer "AAA" games are being developed today vs. past console generations?
Exclusive games will continue to play a major role for Xbox in the new console generation, just as they have in previous generations. I'm a true believer in our exclusive platform features like Kinect, SmartGlass, and the Cloud, but games have always been the bedrock of our consoles at Xbox. On Xbox One, we came out of the gate strong last November with Forza Motorsport 5, Dead Rising 3, and Ryse: Son of Rome, and we haven't slowed down having just released Kinect Sports Rivals, and of course Titanfall. This E3 is important for us to show gamers our future plans for exclusives and third-party support.
I assume you are referring to Titanfall which wasn't even the case with that game.I hope this means they'll be funding the development of more exclusive games instead of buying exclusivity of already-developed games. Add to the industry, don't subtract from it.

I see Quantum Break has made into the "MS only has 4 exclusives" rhetoric. Fable must be pretty sour about losing the spotlight in such a coveted list.
meh. just compare 360 and ps3 exclusives for the past 4 years. 2013 alone is telling.
xbox keeps on harping about games when in recent years they have nothing to show for it relative to the competition. they've been striving for other goals and now suddenly they're talking about games.
they've been playing catch up the whole time. when gamescom dropped they've only announced their id@xbox program while sony revealed all the indie games coming to ps4/vita like rogue legacy and hotline miami 2 and even exclusive like volume.
so far, i can see microsoft moneyhatting for exclusives. i just feel like they'll moneyhat a multiplat to come first on xbone just as they did with 360. they can keep doing that but that's not what i'd call an investment to gamers but rather "here's something that you'll get to play first on xbone. buy xbone if you want to have early access."
and they have to expand their library. honestly, there's a reason why the halo/gears/forza/fable joke is the way it is. it's good that they have remedy but don't depend on a single studio to come up with a new ip. invest in smaller games.
it'd be funny if they got thatgamecompany's new game.
I can't help but feel that this guy is just trying to fix XBO image by saying what everyone want to hear its like he is being stressed from higher up to keep repeating "games" word every time anyone ask him something. Talk is cheap
They funded it? Ah, I remember hearing talk about how Titanfall 2 was definitely gonna be on PS4, and figured it was just a moneyhat. Sorry if I'm mistaken.
How exactly are the last few years of the 360's lifecycle ( when Matrick ran the division) "telling" for what to expect now that Spencer is running it?

I think you're seeing something that isn't there. Until your post I had never seen anyone claim MS only had 4 exclusives.
Because, brace yourself, the decisions made by the Xbox division were not solely coming from Don Mattrick.
Phil Spencer was backing the DRM stance just as hard back before the 180, they follow whatever direction the Xbox team is heading. It's naive to think a company is going to do a complete reverse of every policy simply by appointing a new head.
He ran their first party studios.
No. They only need to get the price down Kinect or not.So I assume Mr Spencer will dis-Kinect the Bone. If they don't its basically finished.

Saying and doing are two different things. It might sound harsh, but "talk is cheap" really is the kind of cautious stance I can take right now. I want something to impress me, something solid, something that will make me want an Xbox One beyond a reasonable doubt. They have to sell me on it, and E3 will be their big chance. Come on Microsoft, bring your A-game, and make me perk up my ears. Show me, and I'll start to listen, but until then I'll be somewhat cautious and skeptical. I won't buy something based on promises.

People are going to be super disappointed this E3. There's no way Spencer has had a fighting chance to do anything substantial as head of Xbox in the few months he's been in the position. The rhetoric will be very different this E3, but I doubt we will see anything meaningful in terms of changes or products before the next few years.

You mean like they did last E3, oh wait.....I look forward to coming back to this thread next week when Xbox introduces their big TVTVTV plans.
