Nintendo Downloads - April 2014

Yeah I was wondering where RBY/GSC are on the VC. Pretty sure everyone would buy the games even if you couldn't trade between.

Anyways, finally getting to playing Links Awakening. Currently on my way to dungeon 4. Bought it almost 2 months ago and I've tempted buy some other VC games, but I won't let the backlog build on this system. Games are more expensive than on Steam.

I don't know why (especially considering I bought the first one as well), but for some reason I was thinking that NES Remix 2 was $40.

I added $50 to my eShop account in anticipation of paying that (I know I can just do pay remainder, but I figured I'd just do that to have some left over)...
So, hey, now I have $35 left over instead of $10. That's a nice little surprise.

Yes, this post implies that I would have been fine paying $40 for NES Remix 2

I added $50 as well, but that was so I'd have $35 left over for Tomodachi Life instead of having to spend that $35 right after Mario Kart 8 comes out at $60.

There's NO WAY Nintendo/PC re going to sell a mainline PM game for €7...
Especially with remakes being suh a big del for he franchise
My own 2c of course

Yeah, I'm going to spend it soon enough, definitely not wasted.
And - wow, I didn't realize Mario Kart 8 was coming out that soon.

Because you explicitly stated that you don't care about how GBA games on 3DS do or don't work. You're basically just going "I want what I want and it's stupid that I don't have what I want" and that is a completely worthless thing to post. Not to mention a childish attitude to have anyway.

The point that both I and Roto were making is that when you say:

It's going to make people here rather dubious as to anything else. And, when someone points that out, responding by saying:

Basically comes off as you being defensive of someone pointing out an issue with your post, and that you should be able to say anything that you want because "it's your opinion" without people commenting on it or addressing issues about it.

I should let this rest here, but I have to ask, did you guys even read my whole post or did you just latch on to the whole "I don't care about specs" and run from there? Because both of you are grossly overstating what I said. At no point did I say anything close to wanting what I what and it's stupid that I don't have it (just that you intrepretated it that way baffles me). The point was that it doesn't matter if the 3DS is capable or not. I would love to see GBA games on the 3DS. I'd love to see cross buy on Nintendo platforms. But we don't have it, and this endless loop of discussion that centers around it is so old and tired. That's why I decided to quote that particular part of his psot in agreeing, since I do feel the whole thing is just a tired bit of rhetoric, and not parts of any poster to chime in about whether or not the 3DS can or can't emulate GBA, because I really don't care about it at this point and I have nothing to add to the conversation (as I think no one does anymore, frankly.)

As far as my defensive reply, I guess it was, but generally when someone quotes you and says why should anyone care what you think, it seems pretty inflammatory, especially when only a small part is quoted and then twisted into something not even close to what the context of the whole statement says.

The biggest problem I see with Pokemon is how important the connection factor is (plus it would leave Pokemon stranded in a game for the first time in forever). I'd be surprised if they did it.

Wouldn't this be fixed by just releasing the third game that combined all the Pokemon from the previous two versions into one? Like Yellow, Crsytal, etc.?

The enhanced versions still had missing Pokémon, and you'd still be locked out from other starters, and legends in later games.

I'm not sure you realize that your previous message can easily be interpreted in more than one way. When I first read it, I personally gathered that you felt Nintendo's decision to put GBA on the Wii U is "so dumb." Then as support for your argument, you point out that people are still bitching about it months later. Obviously I wasn't the only one to read it that way and if that were indeed the case, it IS an annoying and tired argument. One that sounds like "I want what I want and don't care!" in other words.

Apparently you meant it was "so dumb" that people are still complaining, and that's fine. You defended your point successfully, just recognize that your post could have been written in a clearer manner, since at least 3 of us read it in a way that you did not intend.

So much this. I don't know or care about the specs behind it all, the simply fact is they chose to go the Wii U route and not the 3DS one, and it's so dumb that months later people still have to bitch about it.

Grabbed Yoshi's Island and Remix 2

Is it just me or do I have to press OK a lot more every time I buy stuff now? (Eu btw)

Currently in the middle of Yoshi's Island...Its honestly not bad of a port, though its been 10 years or so since I've played it on an SNES. The only real issue I have with it is the sound obviously being in much lower quality, but its still a great soundtrack.

Only visual problem that really bummed me out was "Touch Fuzzy Get Dizzy", man did that segment get butchered to hell.

Really curious why the SNES version was never released for VC...is Super FX hard to port? Or is there a legal quandary with it? We'll probably never know...

is it worth getting it? this is the VC version for the WiiU?

If it's the best you can do, go for it. I found the 3DS version perfectly playable, but it's definitely got some nagging issues. Music takes a hit, levels using lots of Super FX stuff like "Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy" take a hit, and you now have to listen to Yoshi's constipation groans as he flutters through the air.

Has it been agreed that the Super FX licensing is at fault for this game's lack of release? I'd imagine that's what took down the DKC games, as well, since the Game Boy games are now coming out in Japan.

EDIT: Or is it still a Rare issue? Since, from what I'm seeing, the DKC games have not been delisted in Japan? I don't know. Feel free to correct me.

EDIT 2: Nevermind: DKC and its sequels aren't Super FX games.

I've always assumed so, considering Star Fox/Star Wing never came to the VC, especially since that's a first party Nintendo game.

I'm kinda lost as to which version you guys are talking about?
we are referring to the GBA VC games for the WiiU right?... or does the 3DS has it too?
I thought the SNES version isn't out or something

The 3DS version is the GBA version, but is only available to certain people who bought a 3DS before the price drop, called Ambassadors. So if you didn't buy a 3DS early, you can't get it.

The Yoshi's Island game currently on the Wii U VC is the GBA port of the game.

The GBA version. It was a GBA Ambassador game, as well, and is now out on Wii U VC.

Are the current 3D classics all we're getting from Nintendo? That's pretty lame. I'm glad Sega is making some but I wish there were other games coming out. :/

It would be cool if Nintendo commissioned a 2nd set of 16bit games since they're not bothering with SNES or GBA on 3DS Virtual Console.

I'm thinking about getting a Japanese Wii system in part to try out some of the download games exclusive to that region.

Does anybody know if the system uses the same 'hookups' as the North American system? If so, is there anywhere I could get just a used console? Ebay mostly has new systems, and they're pretty expensive.

Would it be difficult for somebody who doesn't speak Japanese to get online and navigate the shop (I'm assuming it's much like NA systems and so would be pretty easy)?

Also, I recall hearing that Wii points on a JP system could be bought with a North American credit card, is that the case?

I have a Jpn Wii. Its easy to navigate the UI and shop dude.

And yes you can buy JPN points with a non japanese debit/credit card.

Yeah, easy to navigate, easy to buy... Your card from anywhere will work. Tons and tons of exclusive games. I've got about 80 on my japanese wii. I just use the same plugs for my US and J-Land Wiis. Just switch them quick.

Highly recommended!

I wonder if Europe will get the Conception II demo this week. Atlus said "May", just like the full-game, but who knows.

Will probably nab Child of Light and Tappingo. Shame the GBA period ended already while Japan's didn't, but it was totally expected. Though I've yet to nab Golden Sun... Hmm.

The free Mario Golf is tempting, but ShopTo and others are selling the cart of World Tour at 7 quid cheaper than digital, so yea.

Yeah, but I actually expected no VC game at all, so I'm still somewhat surprised. At least it's a game I want.

I calculated and, in number, Europe has 58% of the Virtual Console titles that Japan does. Really doesn't seem right.

Japan has 143 as of April 30th
Europe has 83 as of April 30th

Japan gets at least 2 a week usually. We get 1 if we're lucky. Nintendo of Europe and Nintendo of America need to sort it out, and fast. I'm grumpy.

I don't know, if you plan on constantly using the multi-player and the asynchronous online mode I would rather get it digital than to always put in the card for a quick shot.

That's much worse than it was on Wii, the ratio there was 382/656 or
58%
.

Just because it was like that last gen too doesn't make it right :p

There are so many games sitting on the Japanese one that were localised like Super Punch-Out, Secret of Mana, Wario Land 4 etc. which aren't here yet.

Just thought it was funny that it was (almost) exactly the same. I'm not happy with the situation either, even though I've got plenty of VC games to play. I really want those PC-Engine games and the Square titles to finally come over.

In my view, we should get a NES, SNES and GBA game each week. Would be much better.

Throw in other consoles like PC Engine, N64, Mega Drive etc. and run a rotation and it'd be even better.

Wait, is Mario Golf GBC only available to those who purchase World Tour digitally ?

Come on, I was waiting for the game to be available to get some golf goodness. :(
