Donald Sterling (slum lord and LA Clippers Owner).. yeah, still a racist scum bag

I don't know how clipper fans could think the players can focus when you're owner doesn't think of you as people.

I was expecting them to have their priorities in order. I was expecting them to come out and crush GSW to show who they are. I was expecting them to realize that despite being in a bad situation, there is a time when it will be addressed, and to understand that that time is not during the playoffs.

Playing without focus is one thing. This is them intentionally throwing the game and that's repugnant to me.

They probably showed up for doc.
I don't know. I think they're not so much tanking as they are lacking the desire to win for such a horrible owner.

Edit: if they wanted to their the game, they'd do like they did against the blazers and sit most of the starters. They're just not focused.

Um no, this is a protest in support of ABC (Another Bad Creation) against the tyranny of Kris Kross.

Inside out is not and has never been, wiggedy wack.

Why would you win for a person who views you that way? Who do you think gets to keep the trophy?

Their pride as people is worth more than some game. Sorry that your pride as a clipper fan is worth more than that but not everyone can respond the way you said when their owner insults them by winning and contributing more wealth to that very owner.

Even if they crush them they are still people he wouldnt want his girlfriend bringing to his games.

Some black folks try to convince themselves that if they are nice, not stereotypical, or successful that racists wont hate them when its a losing game from the start. The problems of racists like sterling is on the inside.

The NBA can't, like, confiscate an asset worth almost $600 million because of something this guy said over the phone. What are they supposed to be able to do about this? Seems to me that the only way to get rid of this guy is for players and fans to basically reduce the franchise's worth to get him to sell.

Yeah, you wanna talk about having your priorities in order.

You'll get over it..

I guarantee none of them are surprised regarding the 'recent revelations' of Donald Sterling's character.

It's true that sterlings racism is from the inside. There is no ignorance or misconceptions, he cares not for what a minority achieves in status.

This, some people are naive in this thread. They're probably just shaken up because now it's a big public scandal that's gaining momentum, that's all. Money talks.

Hard to say what I would do in their position, but I honestly (honestly) do not think I could have played. I mean, fuck. They are getting blown out though, so maybe yall right about them throwing it. Too early to tell.

Or.

OR.

They'll take the money and roll their eyes until they get a chance to pick up a contract elsewhere. Give me a multi-million dollar deal, the opportunity to pick my own c00n coach, and get me endorsements on demand in one of the biggest markets in the country and I'll put up with a lot.
Weren't there rumors that he used to bring women into the locker room and show off players while they showered?

cuckold muthafucka

Yes, he was known to bring women in after games and show off their 'beautiful black bodies' while guys were trying to go. He also did Training Day type shit to coaching prospects and hopefuls to see if they were down for that fast, racist lifestyle.

Fine and suspend is all they can do.

They're not just playing for him though. They're playing for themselves. These are players who have spent their entire adult lives preparing to win a championship. These are players who willingly signed with the Clippers despite DTS's worldview being public knowledge even before this latest disaster.

I think we just approach this from very different perspectives. Some of the posts in this thread--particularly the ones that are treating this saga as some sort of urgent civil rights issue--suggest to me that if you're not an avid basketball fan, this seems like a bigger deal than it is to fans of the sport, and I don't think there's any way to convince either side.

4 turnovers in the first 3 seconds, letting David Lee drive to the basket, leaving Stephen and Klay open behind the line...I hope you guys are happy since the Clips are clearly throwing the game.

Every player could have fouled out or not have played the game at all if they wanted to throw the game.

If only the NBA could make right in the whole situation in LA. Trade Mike D'Antoni and Steve Nash to the clippers , and in return the Lakers get Doc Rivers and Chris Paul. I'm pretty sure Donald Sterling would be down for this.

They are playing for themselves and if they have any self respect they are black players before they are basketball players. It's a shame that people on who view it as a purely basketball game can't see the otherside of the issue.

It's more than a single basketball game. However, for people who don't follow sports and are just jumping in and throwing around comments, most of them are pretty unrealistic, or even foolish.

Boom.

That's certainly how Sterling sees it.

Sit your ass down, and take a deep breath. Until you show me you'd make the same choice, you're just a mad keyboardist in my opinion. Playing social activist with other people's money. You want a list of every organization with racist top executives, so you can speak with your wallet, or nah?

Not this "Unless you're an NBA player..." BS.

I'm not a millionaire player in the NBA, so I'm not in the position to turn down a contract of that magnitude. But I AM entitled to have an opinion, and all I can do is base that opinion on how I have lived my life and the choices I have made. And I have refused to use products and services from companies who have made bigotry, racism and homophobia aspects of their company and discourse, and you're just going to have to take my word for that.

So these millionaire players get no respect from me. If they continue to play for this man while KNOWING the content of his spirit, then they ain't shit, and I'm allowed to say that. #ToughTitty

Its not purely a basketball game.

Its a business. And people need to realize how pacifying 400,000 dollars -at minimum- really is. So the slave comparison doesn't work like many wish it did. Self-respect is cheap and replaceable. People have prices that can be named and you'd be fool to believe that Sterling and his many employees do not understand that.

At least this is honest and I have to respect that.

You wave around a few million a year in my face though and I might just kiss your dick and wink into the camera if you ask nice enough.

What does it matter how closely someone follows basketball? I get we all probably deal with bigoted people everyday, and running isn't the solution, but these comments are damning. Don't see how the organization continues with him at the helm.

This will cause the clippers the season, they're too angry to concentrate. Next season everyone will be gone if sterling is still the owner.

It's the hot news topic. So, maybe half the people in here that care about this now won't care about it a week from now. I follow sports daily, along with many others in here. From just reading the thread, you can tell who has a better grasp of how this will play out than people who are coming in here blindly.

I don't think anyone sees the organization with him at the helm. People expect/want him gone right now, but that simply isn't going to happen. This off-season is going to be very busy.

So regarding his comments... is this how black people are generally viewed in Israel, no better than dogs?
When people ask who is "they" that he mentions in the audio, I understood it as his other Jewish white friends.

He needs to go by the time I get done typing this message. Otherwise I won't feel like my internet rage was well spent!

Damnit. He's still there.

But this isn't anything new. We all know that Sterling didn't want to rent to black people and thought they smelled. Now that he somehow crossed a line when he doesn't want black people going to basketball game.

I disagree. This is sterling's extended audio.

I support them and give them food, and clothes, and cars, and houses. Who gives it to them? Does someone else give it to them?

He sure is talking like a 19th century slave owner.

But you could also flip this and say that because we don't follow basketball we aren't blinded by a devotion to the sport.

It's like to people who pardon Joe Paterno, who was literally allowing pedophilia and child rape to happen by turning a blind eye to it, because "man, you just don't understand what Paterno meant to Penn State's football program!"

I don't necessarily think that you have to be a devoted basketball fan to have an opinion on this issue. This is a social issue that really doesn't have all that much to do with the finer points of the sport. And just because the right thing to do isn't the most "feasible" doesn't make it any less the right thing to do.

Hmm sorry I didn't know. I follow basketball for the game on the courts, I only know of 3 owners cause they usually make headlines (Jordan, Buss, Cuban).
