US PSN: Golden Week Sale Celebrates Japanese Games

I just thought about this, but if the Tales of Symphony Collection is ten bucks, is there a chance that each game in the collection can be bought separately for only five bucks?

Definitely picking up Tales of Symphonia for 10 bucks, 30 FPS be damned! Good thing my PS Plus subscription won't lapse 'til like next month. :D

Might pick up MGS collection for Vita, even though I already have it on 360. After FFX HD, I want more PS2 ports on this thing...

is the game that good? What's so good about it? Damn I need about $70

BTW MGs collection on vita was really fantastic

Depends what you hate about jrpgs.

Honestly hard to put a finger on it because the ones I do end up enjoying usually have all the things that make me cringe.

Fey, whiny characters.
Random battles that you have no chance to avoid.
Menu driven gameplay.
counter-intuitive, needlessly complex level up/combat systems.
non-nonsensical or juvenile plot and dialogue.

I also liked FFXII.

If it means anything to those interested in ToS, I didn't find 30FPS to be that big of a deal personally but then again I'm sure you can find some gaffers who would say it is a big deal to them.

P4G is a really good game IMO. The worst thing about it is the super hard boss battles.

Engaging story but I haven't beaten it yet
Cool characters
lots of side activity
fun and fast battle system

you should watch some game videos imo. I am in the third dungeon and I give it a solid 8.5/10. Best JRPG I have played since FFX IMO

The bolded parts are totally absent from P4G.
It's menu-driven, yeah. Most RPGs are, though. It's about as menu-driven as Suikoden or FF7, though.
Leveling up is...interesting. I wouldn't say it is complex, per se, but it is involved.

I'm pretty sure I will be getting Verdict Day, you can add me. I'm sure other people will get it during the sale.

Since you're getting Totori twice, I recommend getting Meruru instead =p

Lol! thats what I meant

I read the post recommending totori first then get the next one but i still got them confused as to which I need to get

i WILL probably end up just getting both and saving myself the trouble

is the ps3 one also good?

Ugh, I hated FFX like poison. Only FF I disliked more was FFVIII. Never played XIII though.

I think I'll pick up P4G anyways. Even if I hate it too I can justify it as research. The series has such a strong following and I have no experience with it.

Oh that is good news. If I can follow the story and there are no random battles I should enjoy myself.

Think I'm going to buy P4G and gamble that the Vita TV will get released in NA someday. It has to, right? Please, Sony?

(Could go for the PS2 version of P4, but I'll live dangerously, with "dangerously" meaning I might be out 15 bucks.)

Definitely going to grab MGS HD PS3, Crono Cross, and ZoE2 HD (do you have to buy both or do you need to get the collection?). Considering also getting MGS on the vita since I'll probably pick one of those up eventually.

I wish this sale was broader and included things like TitS and Graces.

You can get Graces F for ~$17.50 (roughly 50% off the US PSN price) if you feel like going to the trouble of making a UK PSN account and getting a £10 PSN code from game.co.uk. That's what I did. Pretty sure their Easter sale runs 'til the 30th. Might wanna check on that first though.

The Collection is on sale so it's both.

Also, bang on with the Vita version. It may be lacking Peace Walker, but it's still my favorite version of 2.

I guess it's a good time to pick up the Vita versions of the Atelier games! They're digital only so that stops my physical copy need for now.

Can someone briefly explain what the main differences are between the numerous Atelier games? I have no idea which one to try first, or if it even matters.

Totori is Atelier PS3 2. Meruru is Atelier PS3 3, and Ayesha is Atelier PS3 4.
Alternatively, Totori is Arland 2, Meruru is Arland 3, and Ayesha is Dusk 1. So Totori/Meruru and Ayesha are in two separate sub-series and while it's better to play Totori before Meruru it's arbitrary whether you play Ayesha first or later.

Hell, it doesn't sound like continuity's a big deal in the Arland games anyway, but Totori's generally considered one of the best entries and Meruru either a bit better or a bit worse, so may as well just get to Totori first of the two.

Totori is a great introductory game. You're testing the waters with it. If you like it, then go all in with the rest of the series. If you don't like it, you only got your feet wet.

Meruru is just as good as Totori imo and both are better than Ayesha. Escha & Logy, the newest one is up there with Meruru and Totori.

The only thing that sucks about the MGSHD collection on the vita is that youre forced to have all or nothing with that game. You either have both games installed and taking up space or nada.

On the plus side, it's really got 4 games included in the package since MGS3 also includes Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.

Sort of OT, but I happened to have business appointments at the NY Sony Tower today.

All PlayStation games are 50% off in their PS store.
Just picked up hotshot golf wold invitational (VITA) for $5.42.

I'm assuming it's part of this deal:
https://blog.sony.com/2014/03/new-sony-store-deals/

Oh snap. Does this include ps4 games? Because I have one of these select locations about 45 minutes away from me and I'll drive that far for a $30 copy of Infamous:SS.

How does it look on vita

How does it look on vita

Looks just fine. The old MSX games look terrifc on the OLED while the newer games hold up well. It's a strange case where MGS2 runs worse in some spots compared to the original PS2 version whereas MGS3 runs better overall than the original PS2 version. Both run below native res, though they still look really clean.

I'm in for MGS Vita and Saint Seiya: Brave Soldiers, but I want to know what I'm getting myself into with Armored Core: Verdict Day (i.e. it's not an online only game with lots of online trophies).

Holy smokes! Biggest sale for me. I'm looking at...

Chrono Trigger
Chrono Cross
Tales of Symphonia Chronicles
Y's Memories of Celceta

How is Atelier Meruru Plus? I have never played an Atelier game before. Y's at a good price? Haven't looked in stores yet for a discount.

Kinda hurts buying Tales digital and not retail...all the software sales ppl care about are for retail copies.

Also I would've bought Muramasa R if it wasn't free for EU in May :/

Well you could buy them separate like I did but the price will be higher than this particular sale of course unless they stealth drop the price of MGS2HD standalone and MGS3HD standalone too.

Ys. Not Y's.

Start with Totori Plus over Meruru if you haven't played an Atelier game before.
Meruru takes place afterwards in the Arland continuity and will spoil Totori's ending for you.

My vita screen has some pretty visible (and feelable with my nails) scratches on it. I think my keys might have scratched it in my pocket earlier today. :(

Any good scratch removers? I know they don't really remove scratches, just fill them in and make them more difficult to see, but help me out, here. ;_;

I'd also like a screen protector recommendation while I'm at it.

Sony makes some official ones which worked rather well for me until I switched it for the P4G one. Only pain is applying them without any air bubbles or dust & such.

why do I want MGS collection for the Vita.

I just bought the Legacy collection.

And I don't own a vita yet.

Why am i part of the port problem.

I'll bite on this one. Both Atelier games on vita will be mine. Muramasa Rebirth and Time and Eternity looks okay as well. Gotta top up $50 from Amazon then.

WHAT!!! ToSC for $10. I bought a physical one and it is still in wrap. Discounted like 75% already?
