There were a few sniffles during the Gwen scene. I really loved the changing season scenes with Peter at the cemetery. Plus the scene with Spider-Kid. Loved the first but this was all over the place in terms of story but action was a lot better. Loud applause at the end from my fellow theater goers. Stan Lee's scene could have been better.

Watched it last night, me and my wife thought it was pretty good.

Why were there some scenes missing from the trailers btw? I remember seeing one scene where all of Peter's actions were being tracked by oscorp

Rhino's was so unintentionally funny.

One thing that always bothers me with Spiderman films. Even though there is a war going on that oh that is always an audience to cheer on Spiderman is like they don't run and don't do anything they just cheer. It annoys me

So it isn't okay to have a negative reaction to a film?

Nah, it's fine to have a negative reaction to the film but come on now, there are sections of this thread hailing the film as the next coming of Satan or something. It had its great parts and it had its terrible parts.

It could very well be generational in the varied opinion statistically, but I just think a lot of it had to do with the over all tone of the film.

It just all felt very flat.

Agreed ed with the Stan Lee part, the last amazing spider man cameo was a hundred times better. Some rumors have been that the parts in the trailer that were cut were for a longer version of it, that dealt more with topics that didn't fit and I guess the movie would of been to long. Which bummed me down when I read that because the movie needed to be longer in my opinion to flesh out the characters more.

What hurt it the most is there were just so many scenes that just shouldn't have been in the movie (plane scene and about half of the parent stuff) and they screwed up the entire pacing and tone which makes it all feel broken.

I loved the first one, but I thought this one was pretty awful.

There was a lot of unneeded parts and it seemed like the film was making Peter out to be really unlikeable.

You see I actually thought that part with his parents was cool. Allowing us to explore what happened to them. I didn't mind that, even after the bits we originally received from the first movie. It was still all unresolved. And both of his parents were shown as brave.

I think this film should have spread out a lot of the Gwen and Peter serious stuff to the next movie. It would have kept the movie lighter in tone. Same with Harry.

They had too much overload all over the place. To me, this was two movies forced into one, and most of the ride with the characters was sad, and depressing. Full of bickering.

They should have filmed two films back to back. I don't have a problem with most of thier ideas, just the over all execution.

weird that scene from the trailer 'this will literally change everything' was cut, although i have no clue where it would have fit right.

fun movie. watching in RPX 2D was nice with the loud speakers. was a bit teen drama.

Also for a movie pimped as 'biggest challenge yet' or something, spiderman had like no trouble at all the entire film lol.

his humor was spot on too.

Liked the costume and the effects, the movie was overall pretty boring though.
Didn't really feel like there was much of a point to anything that happened.
I thought peter was portrayed pretty unlikeable and a lot of the dialogue was muddled and annoying.
Overall it was a good "another Spider-Man adventure" but a poor film.

Only thing that actually bothered me though was the part where aunt may is at the hospital and the power comes back on she says something like, "okay everyone, everything's going to be okay! Let's all get back to work!" As if she has any authority as someone volunteering after taking a couple of night classes.
I laughed pretty hard there it was really funny.

Like I said, only about half of the parent stuff should have been cut. The scene with them at the beginning was great in showing how brave they were and the video that Peter found was also great. It being in that weird subway and having all of the throwaway scenes where he is in his room looking at the briefcase or searching silly things on the internet just wasted valuable time that this movie could have used somewhere else. They beat us over the head with exposition about the parents but then only had one little tidbit about the goblin armor being in the building and that it had healing properties before it being needed almost an hour later in anotehr very quick Green Gobline scene.

Gwen's death made a real impact on me. Inconsolable Peter sitting by her grave was heart breaking. No other Spiderman movie made that impact on me. Which is why this is my top Spiderman movie. The plot about Peter's parents was nice too.
Yeah I thought it was really well done too, which made the rest of the movie a big disappointment for me.

I had low expectations going in, and still ended up not really enjoying it and wishing they would just get it over with about 3/4 thru.

The Spiderman films just seemed to be made for a "less sophisticated" audience compared to the other Marvel films. Seems like the goal is to just have good looking people have CG fights and not worry too much about an incoherent plot. Don't want to bother pointing out all the plot holes and mistakes, but one thing that really bothered me is that all modern jets have TCAS (an automatic collision warning system) built in, they don't need ground control to tell them they are about to smash into another jet.

I thought it was genius. I know people who are exactly like that. No authority, no reason to talk, but they try to deliver some movie like line to motivate people. What sold it for me, was that nobody was paying attention to her, they just went on with their work. I could just imagine half the people there rolling their eyes, "that's May Parker for you."

Yeah, I didn't like Garfield's performance in this movie very much at all. And I think that falls on both the writing and him as an actor.

The scenes with him and Gwen, all played out like watching some troubled old married couple, that you just have nothing in common with.

All of the fun and charm he had in the first movie was gone.
And I get they were going to kill Gwen, but did they really need to hold the audience's hand into it, by telegraphing thier intent with her father's ghost so much?

Peter, I didn't like him. He was moody, cocky, childish, and failed to remain firm in his convictions.

And all of his emotional scenes, I just didn't feel.

Toby's version of Peter, never made me dislike him. I liked that guy, that Peter.

Garfield in the last movie was cool, and maybe because he was playing off seasoned and excellent men and actors in Martin Sheen and Dennis Leary. This movie he had no one, and his performance came off weak. Even Gwen was holding him up.

That's why I said Foxx was sorely under used. They should have developed Maxx's character and established more of a relationship between those two and let the actors actually play off each other.
That would have been far more interesting.

EDIT:Apologies for typos. This mobile device is a PoS.

On the other side, you have people coming in and arguing it is the best Spider-Man movie and people are hating it for no reason. Honestly, it was about as good as I thought it would be. Expectations sunk once I saw they were adding in Rhino and Green Goblin and the movie didn't disappoint in that respect. There were a lot of good parts, but those are soured by the terrible parts. Not the worst Spider-Man by far, but not really much of an improvement on the first. Except for the costume, which is the greatest suit we have had and pretty much perfect.

Didn't hate it, didn't love it. I do feel like they wasted a lot of potential here with both Electro and Goblin. You could tell they wanted to explore both a lot more but there were too many constraints and useless scenes to do so. I think Fox did a great job as well as DeHaan(sp?) And even though I knew the death was coming, I still felt it. Also, the MCU style foreshadowing was way out of hand in this...I have hope that Goddard can pull off a great Sinister Six movie, but honestly I don't believe it should exist. Just let Goddard have a crack at ASM3 and feature the SS.

I saw the movie a few days ago.
It was ok for what it is. There were a few obvious mistakes (the clock dome being destroyed by Electro then appears like nothing happened when fighting against Green Goblin)
I literally shed a tear when Gwen died. It was such a sad moment. Unlike other actors, Andrew felt genuine and in actual pain.
A solid 8.5 from me.

Saw it in Imax 3d earlier today. I thought it was great! I don't get the hate for it at all. Between this and cap 2, its a great time to be a nerd.

The truth is that there's only one Peter Parker who's been there for me. Who makes me feel like I'm more than I ever thought I could be. That I'm just me. And that's okay. The truth is, I love you. Oh god I love you so much, Tobey.

heard a few sniffles in the theaters during the sequence of Peter looking at her grave stone as the season changes
Same for mine.

Yeah, I thought the movie was great too, I thought the way everything around Gwen's death was handled was really well done. About the ending, I think it was a good way to bring Spider-Man back while sort of teasing that fight for the next movie. I can't even imagine the kind of crazy shit that is going to go down in ASM3.

gwen's death was the best part. the way its framed you can't tell if she survived the fall or if her head smack the ground or whiplash or w/e.

The saddest part was how he almost saved her. It was just heartbreaking.

Yeah! No bullcrap around that. Really well done. That entire sequence was pretty fucking amazing to be honest. The fight before was sooooo intense.

Was not expecting much and I still didn't really care for it. I didn't mind Garfield in the first one, but he's somewhat irritating in the sequel. He doesn't have any good lines and he looks way too old for someone just out of high school. Garfield does have legitimate chemistry with Emma though. I thought both villains were handled well. Dane is especially impressive, and I actually found his character a lot more sympathetic than the new Parker.

Overall it's not a bad movie, but it's probably my least favorite Spider-Man movie. SM3 was weird but it still had the bizarre Raimi charm to it, and it fucking moved at a decent clip. This one felt like a slog through the middle and then rushed at the end.

I'm still saying that anybody has chemistry with Emma Stone. She radiates chemistry and could share a scene with Hayden Christensen and have people say the same thing.

Doesn't really matter when their on again/off again relationship is irritating as hell. They got past the stuttering from the first film at least.

True. I even thought the brief scene in the elevator between Dane and Emma might lead to something as they also seemed to have chemistry.

Sally Field haha. That's Sally Field now days lol

i'll repeat. The scene of "saving gwen" was too amazing. Many of us knew it was coming, yet after seeing movies going against canon you'd expect changes. And you see spidey saving her multiple times while fighting, and when the camera is panning like crazy as the web reaches.... SLAM!

To me it looked like the web caught up but there was a bit of elasticity which essentially was the difference between being saved and dying by heavy trauma.

I never doubted she would die. Back when Emma Stone was cast in the first film, she explained that Gwen dying was a big reason she wanted to play the character.

i was shocked that they actually went through w/ killing gwen

i felt like they would chicken out of it but nah they made it pretty brutal
