RUMOR: Project Beast (From Software/Sony Japan Studio, PS4) [Port begging = ban]

This is stupid. I passed on this because it's a bunch of vague images from 4chan that may or may not be real. If we knew something about it, we would do our best to say so. We don't make a habit of hiding things from our readers.

I also posted that the Fallout 4 ARG was fake, and then showed you casting documents from the real Fallout 4.

So, no, I know nothing about this, and I'm not inclined to trust anything that comes from 4chan without corroborating it somehow.

I like you Jason, but this is already more credible than about 60% of the stories Kotaku print (a statistic pulled from my arse, but still :P).

Was thinking of both the Xbox and 360 games which were exclusives with interesting control systems. One just worked better than the other :P

The first one, which was deved by capcom was a "god game" with how well it was made. I have not paid any attention to the one by From as had no interest in Kinect.

Nice More Games... Hate every pussy who hate any console. Please be more mature :-) more Games more fun..no money for consoles? Work. Consoles are cheap if u arent eating fast food kids. Go make food in the kitchen. :) Happy days for everyone

Wow, you're totally right. For whatever reason I thought they made both. Thanks for the knowledge.

And as mentioned the new one had some great ideas, especially the team elements and sense of claustrophobia but screwed it all up with terrible controls and lazy missions. One of which literally lasts a few minutes. Which would be fine and similar to Armored Core if there weren't so few of them.

So are we fairly certain this is real?

At this point it has to be real. Too many things are lining up for it to be a coincidence like DemonNite using "beast" a lot of the time last year, after Shadows of the Beast was announced. If it isn't real, a lot of people are going to lose a shit ton of credibility here.

If so do we expect a TGS announcement? I mean, this isn't E3 stuff is it?
Pretty sure it was meant to be shown at TGS last year but was pushed out. E3 is the most likely candidate.

Nope sorry capcom never developed a game called "Steal Battalion" they did do one called "Steel Battalion" though.

Also the poster above you must be thinking of the Kinect title "Steel Battalion: Heavy Assault", which was developed by From, but published by Capcom.

Holy Shit! That piece of turd was developed by From Software? Well I guess Kinect was the limiting factor there.

Is there more to this joke that I haven't picked up on? Its popped up several times in this thread alone already, so I'm wondering if there's more depth than, "Say something facetious to offend posters who don't know you're joking."

Edit: Just not sure if I'm over or under thinking it.
He made a minor joke and I think some people kinda blew up over it. Which makes the "someone's salty!" crap look REALLY ironic since they're probably the ones being "salty" while he was just making a sardonic post.

I think if you said "interesting" you might have a point, because Kotaku posts a ton of pointless low effort click bait editorials or "interest" stories meant to get the site going whenever there isn't actually any news or worthwhile stories to post. But they don't seem to post bullshit rumors much at all without actually hearing from a source.

There is reason why some of us here feel this is very credible, but a lot of that is not tied to the screens leaked on 4chan, but rather things we've been hearing from certain sources over the months. The screens from 4chan do match stuff I've heard too. But we're not Kotaku, and they have a responsibility to check up on their sources as well. If they're not confident in posting about it, they shouldn't. That's good journalism. Jumping on every rumor just because some other site is talking about it a lot is populist journalism. See: World War 1 CoD.

Hey, I don't know if anyone said what I'm thinking in this thread, but I'm sure some of you have at least thought this, what if Sony's Japan Studio is collaborating with From so that what ever Project Beast is, is not only exclusive to PS4, but also built on Unreal Engine 4.
Certainly Japan Studio has the best access to EPIC with their latest build of UE4 on PS4 hardware.

So that could be one of the major reasons Japan Studio is helping with development.

From developed both games no? Plus Capcom has some sort of a relationship given Dead Rising's history. Still, was just fantasy land for me. There were some great ideas in Heavy Armor botched by terrible execution and cheap mission design. Would love to see another go at it.

No From only developed the very buggy Kinect sequel. I doubt Capcom wants to work with them again after that. Pretty low effort rush job. The original Steel Battalion was mainly conceived and developed by Nudemaker, the same tiny dev which made Infinite Space for Platinum.

I can already imagine the pvp battles

Infinite Space was great despite the horrendous difficulty spikes and lack of a questlog. They have anything else in the works?

And yeah, very clearly rushed given the length of most of the missions and final results. Still, they really nailed some of the visual elements so it's a shame they didn't give it their all.

Im still sad that they never used the controller outside of the first and second games. D: Someone seriously needs to make a PC hack that runs the game again w/ the controller.

They made Senritsu no Stratus for Konami on the PSP after Infinite Space. It was never released in English. It was a sidescrolling action game with various simulation elements between missions and stuff. The missions are on foot, where you use a sword or a gun to fight aliens and find their weaknesses or whatever, and then you get into a mecha to finish them off in the boss encounters.

Looks like they made some Infinity Blade ripoff for mobile too: http://www.nudemaker.jp/en/product.html

Don't know what they're doing right now. Hopefully something more interesting.

You're right 'interesting' would have been a better lexical choice, I was being fairly facetious particularly regarding the kind of coverage Kotaku does. I agree good journalism does rely on credible sources (which 4chan certainly isn't) although Kotaku is hardly the pinnacle of journalistic integrity, I was poking fun, nothing more. (:

quite the developer name heh

How touching; a train boarded by people who are wishing they'll finally have something to play on their $400 dust collector.
Facetiousness aside, there hasn't been much that has interested me this year. It has been literally collecting so much dust that I covered it with a t-shirt a few days ago. Q3-Q4 looks good, however.

Why would Sony Japan use UE4 when they most likely have better in-house tech that could be used? Or From is familiar with and has been using since the beginning of development. It just seems unlikely.

Can some one explain the whole Demon Soul's Dark Soul's thing and why people are begging for a Demon Soul's sequel? I thought they were the same game and they look pretty much the same.

From also said that they built the DS2 engine with next-gen in mind. So, i'd expect them to be using that on this game. They know that engine so it'd make development a lot smoother than trying out UE4.

So you think there's genuine reason to believe in this? Obviously it's still a rumour, but are you personally treating the information here with any skepticism?

Why are there so many people getting bait by Verendus. He's not being serious.

What bait? Yeah, I remember his first post pretty much confirmed the rumor then suddenly he changed his tone completely. I wonder if it because the talk that some of us (including me) trust DemonNite more than him.

So this is some kind of Souls game with a Call of Cthulhu setting? Sounds good.

I never finished Demon and Dark Souls for whatever reason, but both games are awesome. I always just stop cause the game just overwhelms me.
