What could Microsoft show at E3 to finally get you to buy an Xbox One?

I'm not sure that anything will get me to buy an X1 tbh.

Most major 3rd party and sports games will be on the PS4 and I have a Wii U for Nintendo games.

Nothing.

It's like someone telling you "hey, I wanted to rape your sister and kill your family but now I don't want anymore, let's become friends."

Not going to happen.

PX3B

People suggest a Kinectless version to lower cost. I would be more interested in a cheaper version without the HDMI in. The Kinect I could imagine a use for in the future. I will simply never use the whole TV passthrough thing.

Other than a lower price, they just need a handful of games to get me onboard. Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break showing well would do a lot for me.

Backwards comparability with 360 games. I know it most don't seem to care here but I've been playing a heap of my 360 backlog and would like to continue with one console.

If they can somehow include it then I would bite and get a XBone as I want to play KI and DR3.

Not with one E3.
When I think of Xbox, I think of America Box, Shooter box, dude bro box. ( I know Xbox offer a lot more).
Can they change that image in one E3 presentation? I don't think so.

Also Xcom has guns.

Shooter it is.
Yes great analogy.

Except for where Quantum Break is a third person shooter and XCOM is a turn based strategy.
It's certainly not a military fps like CoD or Battlefield.

Atleast it looks like it has some interesting themes behind it.
I'm not saying Quantum Break doesn't look interesting, I'm just saying that it's a shooter.

For me Nothing really. Will patiently wait for a 299 price cut and even then it'll be mostly used as a first and second party exclusive games machine. Third party games will be on PS4. MS has made there bed this gen by alienating there gaming supporters with the FUBAR E3 2013 conference. Don't know how long MS will let the Xbox division stay afloat as sales start shrinking over tims, hardware and software wise.

That they've solved backwards compatibility with your digital x360 purchases, and they've developed rival streaming technology that allows you to play games remotely utilizing an app on your tablet and any Xbox One or Xbox 360 controller.

Instant buy. No price drop necessary.

Ok, I'm gonna try and show you the path: games don't have to be sold in retail to count as games. Your previuos post stated that the Xbox One has more games than the PS4. You define "games" as being sold in retail only. This is clearly wrong. Please get your facts straigt.

It's because indie games don't count. And PS4/PC games don't count, only X1/PC games are "exclusive". Also Knack is barely a game so that doesn't count. MLB is on PS3 so that doesn't count. Who even plays KZ so let's take that out. So yea, PS4 literally only has inFamous.

Anyways I agree with others, a good apology will go a long way. And none of that "consumers don't understand" BS

Its not what they're not showing, its the price of the hardware. Remove Kinect and price the system sub $400 like it should be. I refuse to pay MORE for less. Simple as that.

Buy valve or sony. So nothing.

They would certainly have to drop kinect, be about 300$ cheaper, and release a broader appeal of games. By that I mean take some chances with titles and not stick to the tried an true. Even if this all happened I would likely stick to my current console/pc setup as it's served me well through more than two generations.

Substantial price drop + subscription (as opposed to per title) based access to native quality emulation of the entire 360 library+arcade without region restrictions. Throw in another Sakaguchi-esque money hatting for the XBone and it'd be icing.

On the other hand this is assuming Sony announces nothing whatsoever.

Microsoft should definitely buy Capcom, and reeboot RE.

Capcom should make a RE remake per year, a old IP come back each two years, and a new IP each 5 years :P

I already find Killer Instinct and Sunset Overdrive more interesting than anything on the PS4 in terms of software. But I'm not buying a Xone until it's $400 or less new. A price cut to that end would go a long way towards convincing me, as long as SO turns out good.

Or they should sell the IP to Nintendo!

Microsoft pls

Would Nintendo even care to purchase it? They already have Mario, and that IP has proven to be so flexible, that if they wanted to make a Banjo style game, they could just give Mario a new gimmick and have it sell 5 times more.

Only if Chris Seavor is doing it. Even then, they'd need Kirkhope and other key Rare staff that left a long while ago. Not gonna happen

Kirkhope didn't work on Conker though. He'd be an excellent addition, but I think in general they don't need the original Rare guys to make a good Conker.

I would buy one at the end of the gen when its game collection is already finalized and it is at its cheapest, but with it being designed as an always-online machine I fear its best games won't exist in full for that long. These new generations suck for that.

Hmmm, I wonder if dark souls 3 exclusive would change some minds?

Demon souls 2 on ps4, dark souls 3 on xbone exclusive.

Interesting new exclusives...

Gears and Halo will just not cut it, especially with how tired Halo already feels. They need to make up for the higher price tag; I am not interested in Kinect at all and paying $500 for a substantially weaker console that can't output most games at 1080p is way too much. I'd consider a Kinectless version at maybe around $350. I'd consider that a better investment.

Still... there are absolutely no games that interest me right now. Dead Rising is not my cup of tea... Ryse seems to be a 4 hour trainwreck.. I have Titanfall for PC. Etc.

Its surprising really; Microsoft had me by the balls a few years ago with the 360 and they completely dropped the ball.

If there is one thing that would absolutely tide me over is...

Lost Odyssey 2 by Mistwalker.

The only titles they ever had real exclusivity over were the Mistwalker games and even that isn't going to get me to buy it at anywhere near the price. Honestly my WiiU and PS4 are the only consoles I have the desire to own this generation as I find more value in each of those than the One. Maybe an "Arcade" version with those sequels to those two bundled in and I'd jump ship. I had a lot of fun with my 360 and gaming with my friends, but their hubris and awful policies they thought they could lead with soured the brand for me.

I honestly don't know, but I like to believe a lot of the Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie fan base still have a Nintendo system, be it Wii (U) or 3DS. But even then it's just good for the diversity. I don't see how the Banjo IP couldn't live next to Mario. DKC lived and still lives next to Mario as well. They just have those different awesome feels to them.

In UK price wasn't a huge issue, Xbox One was going for £350 with TitanFall before. I guess if they can have a official price drop which undercuts the PS4, such as £300.

I'd never say never, but they'd have to put out a title that was incredible (and not on PC or PS4). I have a WiiU for the same reason. I'm not sure what that title would be though.

Just lower cost and no Kinect. I think they've got some cool games on there, and will probably have even more cool games but I'm not getting one for the foreseeable future.

Plus PS4 will have the better looking KH3 and FFXV

The only thing they could do is stop charging for online play. I'm already paying for PS plus I'm not going to pay for online on two different consoles.

Nothing. I got a pc and ps4 I also have ps plus. When you get an Xbox console you have to commit to Live also and I'm not paying for two services a year.

  • $99
  • New Mother game by Itoi
  • Mehdi and Penello doing the bow of apology on stage in their underwear, with Penello specifically addressing GAF. Some points they'd apologize for are insisting the DRM backlash was due to poor messaging and not because it fucking sucked, attempts to confuse/fool customers into thinking Xbone is on par performance-wise with PS4, generally using FUD to deceive customers, Power of the Cloud, etc..
  • Fortaleza Glasses are real and actually work as well as their fake demos would have you believe. They're also bundled with Xbone at the $99 price above.
  • New slim model with built-in power supply, full BC with 360 games, user-replaceable 1TB SSD, and full compatibility with previous gen peripherals including Logitech G27 and arcade sticks. And all for $99 of course.
  • Drop paywall for everything except Xbox TV programming, since I don't give a shit about that.
  • Various other things I'm certainly forgetting
Of course, I could probably be swayed by much less than my unrealistic list. But if MS actually did all of the above at E3, then they would definitely get a sale from me! I definitely wouldn't be like some other people who would inevitably move goal posts and say, "Not gonna buy one until it's $49!" Nope. I'd definitely stick to my word if they met all the points in my list. Honestly. I'm not Penelloing you.

Nothing.

It's like someone telling you "hey, I wanted to rape your sister and kill your family but now I don't want anymore, let's become friends."

Not going to happen.

This is how many fanboys actually think.

OT: The main thing would be a price drop. For me, the XB1 is already fairly compelling in terms of exclusives. If there was an indication they'll keep that up with more titles like Dead Rising 3 and Killer Instinct, I'd be excited. However, MS isn't going to waste much time appealing to the Japanese market and is instead going to try and grab as large of a share of the western market as possible, so expect to see more timed COD DLC exclusives.

If Microsoft drop the price to sub 500 in Aus, and Halo/Sunset Overdrive/Quantum Break are great, then I would think about getting one.

New Gears would help a lot but I think that's 2016 at the earliest. maybe holiday 2015

A €250 price tag without Kinect would get me to buy one now.

Else?

Well games that interest *me*. And not one or two but at least a handful of them.

hope no one gets as pissed of as in that "what will it take for Europeans to buy the XBO" thread but to me the Xbox is worth less even than the Wii U when you consider how the payment design is built up in their exclusive games, so far, and add the fact to who owns the Xbox brand.

I don't know Mr. Penello cause so much damage to you. That grudge...

Phil Spencer would have to "disown" everyone that had anything to do with the original Xbox One concept. Talk about how he's in charge now and it's going to be about games and how he's going to invest in first party studio's rather than third party money hats. Give those 1st party devs creative freedom and create unique new IPs.

They will have to get rid of the Kinect and drop the price by at least 100 dollars (preferably 150) and take out all the multi-media features that are locked behind XBLG.

Then hire as many old Rare guys as you can and make Banjo Kazooie 3.

He already did. Go watch and listen to the three interviews he did with Major Nelson, he outright says that many of the choices MS made were downright wrong.

One of my favorite quotes by him (I think it was the podcast one) was where he was talking about essentially "yeah, apps and snapping and TV are great and all, but their all kind of like the side dish; they don't work outside of the context of games, so it makes no sense to focus on them. We should be focusing on games, as the main dish."

(I don't think he actually made the food analogy, but that's the best way I know how to explain it).

I don't see how the Banjo IP couldn't live next to Mario. DKC lived and still lives next to Mario as well. They just have those different awesome feels to them.

I also believe they probably do, because if you want a game along those lines then Nintendo consoles still make the most sense. However, the existence of Donkey Kong I feel hinders your point rather than helps it. Donkey Kong co-exists alongside Mario mostly because of how popular the characters have been over a long period of time. They have widespread recognition and represent Nintendo as a whole on only a slightly lower level than Mario, Zelda or Metroid. Nintendo has tons of IP they are reluctant to use these days (such as F-Zero), and many of these are in areas that their console actually has noticeable gaps to fill. I don't see why they'd be more likely to select an IP that would come behind Mario, Donkey Kong and even Kirby to create another game in line with those that they already have plenty of.

With MS it's the opposite scenario. I can see them possibly reviving Banjo, Viva Pinata or Kameo, in order to flesh out their first party offerings a bit. I find it less likely that we'll be seeing much from Perfect Dark, as a result of them having Halo and Gears. If Nintendo had all of Rare's IP currently, I would expect that we'd already be seeing a Retro developed Perfect Dark.
