Still looks good! co-op will be a blast but I'm not quite as excited now that the Beast is arriving.

I feel like I'm in a boat in the middle of the ocean and I can't risk drinking sea water. What are the chances that this gets a late 2014 release for Japan, and early 2015 for the west? Japan PS4 could really really use this game to boost sales in a big way this year.
I'm going to have to echo a similar thought and put forth that it will almost assuredly be a simultaneous release worldwide. If there's one thing more guaranteed than this being an exciting project, it's that no matter what, Sony will not allow for a repeat of what happened with Demon's Souls.
the chances this will see the light of day in 2014 are very low IMO. would make me instantly buy a PS4 though.

I'm imagining a hand-cannon thats basically you lugging around a mini-cannon; firing would show visible recoil, similar in animation to a backstep toned down.

If they were smart about the title and have kept it under tight wraps till it was pretty much done, it could quite very well be possible. Making for a massive sales push in 2014.

Hey Parakeet since you played Shadow Tower Abyss what was the balancing for guns that they did in that? From reading the wiki they just made ammo super scarce so you would hoard it for difficult fights.
That a list of games that Demonite gave ordered by title. He later came back and stated those were the ones he knew about not all releasing in 2014. However at least 1 on that list has been cancelled maybe 2.

Yep hardly any ammo so you really didnt want to go wasting it. That and the game is designed fairly also so that melee weapons are highly viable. I pretty much hardly used my firearms. Another interesting thing about the game was the dismemberment.

Nope, since From and pub would know better. Not to mention doubt MS would be able to afford a kind of payoff of potential sales within the existing PS4 numbers.

The souls series doesn't make that much money upfront. It's a long term game plan idk if MS is willing to play that.
Sony almost wasn't willing to play that but came back on it after they saw how it took off in some hardcore circles. Also the (majority? I think} fanbase for the most part is on PS consoles so ignoring that would be bad from a financial standpoint
Nope. Majority of Dark Souls series sales are on PS3, so the compensation has to be huge. MFST has another problems.

That would be two different types of exclusivities. A Dark Souls 3 would probably be multiplatform again given the success of the game. MS would just pay to prevent other versions.
Project Beast on the other hand wouldn't exist without Sony's funding in the first place I imagine.

I think it would be fairly unlikely. The PS4 is already presenting itself to be the lead in the coming console generation and the Souls games have traditionally always performed better on Sony hardware anyway. In addition to that, Sony and From have a long standing relationship. King's Field was one of the original, Japanese PS1 launch games. On top of that, it would probably be a bad move for them to pull an exclusive after the PS4 exclusive, since a lot of the fanbase would have migrated to PS4 to play this game, and would be less likely to shell out for another next-gen platform for awhile.
That makes sense but I hope its not handled quite like that it boring to haul something around and never get to use it. That's one of the reasons I didn't like Breath of Fire V very much oh I have dragon powers hahaha too bad use them and the world blows up.

Oh no you do get to use it, its just that its up to you when. But for those thinking they can go pewpewpewpew through the game will be highly disappointed.
If I can actually find where the bloody hell I put my copy I might go do a LTTP thread with recorded footage just for the hell of it lol.

Hearthstone is fucking great, in all respects. The way the game is monetized has no direct correlation to the quality of the game.
Sure, many devs treat F2P like a get rich quick scheme and the game ends up suffering, but that's on the devs, not the payment method.
probably easier for MS just to have them make a new Souls game instead. or better yet, Metal Wolf Chaos 2!
If this ends up being Demon's Souls 2, then they could certainly pay for Dark Souls 2 HD Edition but I think money would be better spent getting From to bring back some of their older IP's as exclusives. They have more than Souls.
Cool the way the wiki talked made it sound like there were like 20 bullets in the entire game.

Namco ain't gonna do it with PS4 dominating the market, they're stupid but not that stupid. That said From has new ownership so I wonder if there's even going be more dark souls games.
Namco don't have a choice. They don't own From, Kadokawa does now and they will be doing the publishing work from now on. They want to push to a wider western audience, so exclusive games for consoles is probably not in their best interests in the long-term. MS could pay for Dark Souls 3 if they really wanted to, just to negate some of this Beast Hype.

Seriously doubt MS could toss money down to buy it as an exclusive. That and they are not exactly in a position to be making such requests in the first place currently. Was a different story before the current gen started and numbers were not down on the table.

Nope. Dark Souls sold better on the PS3 than the 360. Now that the PS4 is selling considerably better, it's bound to sell even more than before. MS would have to pay for all the money they could make on the PS4, and I don't think they would make any money that way. Unless of course FROM is scared of failure money wise (why would they be?) and take whatever cash they will get.
I would imagine MS will have to pony up a lot more cash than the previous generation to make games exclusives on their platform.
Its not like they are selling Vita numbers here. They might not be pushing PS4 units but they are doing well. They certainly have enough money to throw around. If its good enough for Sony, its good enough for MS. There is no guarantee that Sony will keep their selling pace up. For all we know they could drop sharply in 6-12 months. Who knows how this crazy industry goes!
Also, after 6 months or so, a developer hedging their bets on one console over another could end up being messy.

And even then the souls games has always sold more in ps3 even in America. Dark souls will continue being multiplatform.
