This is automatically my most hyped game.
Looks incredible.

Souls PvP competitive?
Hardy fucking har.
Try the netcode if you want to make it somewhat competitive.
I would happily buy a PS4 for a souls games IF it were 60FPS. Everyone who played souls on console and PC knows that it is not the same game at a stable 60FPS framerate as the stuttering mess which it is on console. And that is for a game which is so competitive...so yeah, I'm fine with PS4 only, but make it 60FPS.
A locked 30 fps would be a considerable improvement over their previous efforts
And a major downgrade for everyone who enjoyed Souls on PC.
And a major downgrade for everyone who enjoyed Souls on PC. So yeah...I'm not happy about that rumor I must say. If From proved anything in the past then that they can do beautiful art and atmosphere, but they pretty much don't give a shit for tech, especially framerate. It's a hardcore game for the hardcores, so why not provide maximum playability and take a dump on shadow res or tesslation or whatever, if necessary...we'll see.
I wonder how dissapointed people will be if this strays too far from the basic Souls formula. Seems to me most people already expect this to be pretty much the same game as previous ones.
Don't care if 60 or 30 fps even thought i would like more eye candy .
What From really need to do is have better animation and hitbox .

I agree. The animations in Dark Souls 2 were a step down from the first game. So I really want to see them putting at least the same amount of care into animations they did in the first Dark Souls.
You're treading dangerous territory, I would chill it with the stealth port begging dude. Don't want to get whacked for a silly thing.

The framerate in DS1+2 had some pretty bad drops in some areas, DeS less so. I'm saying From has never seemed to prioritize framerate so expecting that of them of them now will probably lead to disappointment.
Yep. I wouldn't want them to call it dark souls and then stray, but that's not what this looks like. It's a pedigree I trust making a game.I hope it strays a ton.
An exclusive, after the two Dark Souls games, is the perfect time to take some serious risks with the "series".
To be fair the Souls series has a loyal following. I imagine the game will sell pretty well on the PS4.Hype doesn't translate to sales. This thread is 4x bigger than the COD one and yet COD will still outsell this game on a single platform. I'm sure if GT got leaked the thread wouldn't be anywhere near as big as this is, but it would still sell ~10 million copies.
Hype also isn't determined by the quality of the game if you check out the metacritic. Hype = vocal fans shouting.

Precision and reaction? This is not Ninja gaiden. Dark souls is a pretty slow paced action game. Enemy animations are slow and have huge delays to allow the player to read the movement and react accordingly. The speed of the rolling action, spell casting and most great or ultra weapons also speak for themselves. This gameplay design is perfectly fit for 30 fps as it doesn't require fast player reflexes at all, just brains to observe and learn. Not the PVP. The game itself. It's about precision and reaction. It's just more fun at a higher framerate. I recommend trying DS1 with DSFix and switch between 30 and 60 on the fly for testing the difference. And then come back here and post your opinion.![]()
I feel like removing magic would necessitate big changes to the design/lore of the series. Maybe placing it in a supplementary role would be better than removing it entirely? Of course this assumes the game is meant to be in line with the existing Souls games.I actually expect this to feel different from the other Souls games in terms of gameplay. Not "King's Field to Demon's Souls"-different, but still having significantly other emphases in combat. Maybe guns aren't just secondary weapons and could be used as primary weapons. Or they completely replace magic powers in this game.

I'd say Flamelurker was the only boss in the souls series that truely required some reflex skills.
Yes, the series has always been more about caution/preparedness than reflexes.M°°nblade;110613118 said:Precision and reaction? This is not Ninja gaiden. Dark souls is a pretty slow paced action game. My guess for the timeline:
E3: First trailer
TGS: New trailer, Title announcement, [possibly beta phase Nov/Dec]
Feb/Mar 2015: Release the Beast!

Try the difference yourself and tell me it's not world's better afterwards.![]()
Sorry to sound like a newbie here but why 1 million views here? Does the game have some history with Sony gamers?
Demon's Souls was a PS3 exclusive, and the series is very popular with the hardcore audience in general.Sorry to sound like a newbie here but why 1 million views here? Does the game have some history with Sony gamers?
What was the framerate for Demon's Souls running on PC?
I don't think 30fps is a downgrade from that.

Demon's Souls is exclusive to PS3; Dark Souls 1+2 can hit 60 on PC, DS1 only with mods. What was the framerate for Demon's Souls running on PC?

30 in development, 20 in the first year, 2 have been canned since (Stig's game, SCE London restructuring). Note that this only accounts for SCEWWS's output.Sony said at last years e3 that the first year of the PS4 we'd get how many exclusives ? could this possibly count as one of them we would see this year ? maybe towards the end of Q4 Or more likely towards The end of Q3 ?
So...
I think everyone agrees that this leak seems genuine
Why is no media (giantbomb, gamespot, ign, eurogamer etc) reporting it? They usually report fart less certain rumors
Some sort of nda?
lol. he literally told us about Shadow of the Beast and who was making it.

It could be, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a 2015 title.Ok so do you think this might possibly be one of those titles that makes it one of this years BIG sony AAA titles ?
