I'm a rap snot and I think he has some pretty awesome lyrics, and though his verses tend to recycle some of the same themes of selling dope and, being dope, he talks about some fairly high minded shit and I think of him as a lyrical class act. His verses tend to be pretty packed. Maybe his slow delivery doesn't lend itself for fitting a lot of varying words...

Haven't seen it yet, but yeah, I generally think that the whole "street poet" stuff is a bit overstated in regard to 2pac.
Not sure why people even go that way, 2pac was a fucking awesome rapper and he wrote great hip-hop lyrics, but they don't really work as poems, and I don't know, claiming that always struck as somehow suggesting that poetry is somehow a superior art-form.
I personally think such ranking of art forms is silly, but if one must, hip hop has a much much much MUCH higher batting average than poetry.

What does "batting average" mean here?
