Put me on the new hype train. I'm all in for the hype. This game is going to be great. At least what I imagine this game will be like will be great.

Do you think Sony will open the E3 conference with this to set the tone?

There's really no reason to think they'd not show it. According to DemonNite, it was seemingly going to be announced at TGS last year, which was Sony's last major conference, so it was almost certainly going to be at E3, and now it's leaked, not revealing it would be absurd.

I really hope it is an E3 reveal, the wait until TGS would be unbearable after this leak...

I think they didn't go with revealing it at last year's TGS to keep all attention and hype on DkSII, especially since it went through the downgrade. A ton of people would probably have passed up DkSII after the downgrade, knowing that Project Beast was coming.

I am inordinately excited for this. You're right, it makes sense to announce it now, I am just concerned it won't show. This is one of this generation's potential tentpole releases for me, along with a Dragons Dogma sequel, a Red Dead sequel and a Bethesda Fallout. Those games. This is up there with them, and I just want to be sure before I get hyped.

The "Dark Souls" series has gone from obscure regional craze to worldwide franchise, but leaked images from "Project Beast" suggest that PlayStation wants its exclusive back.

Images posted to anonymous message board 4chan fell in line with quotes provided by a Sony-affiliated member of the NeoGAF forum.

Together, they are being taken to imply that the next entry to the "Dark Souls" universe will come in the form of a title exclusive to Sony PlayStation.

Now, some fans hypothesize that "Project Beast," a supposed collaboration between From Software and Sony Japan, will take place in an alternative version of the "Dark Souls" universe, with the main character wielding a shotgun instead of a Tudor-period melee or bow weapon.

But with 4chan rumors considered untrustworthy by much of the wider web, why take these images seriously at all?

"We know Yoshida hinted at something along these lines at one point," reasoned NeoGAF moderator Nirolak, "as we know that From Software has both senior and non-senior staff that worked on 'Demon's Souls' and 'Dark Souls 1' that was unaccounted for in 'Dark Souls 2.'"

Furthermore, another NeoGAF member -- Sony employee Demonnite -- has previous posts that are now, in retrospect, considered to have been veiled hints about the work-in-progress.

"It will be a whole different beast," he had said in January, of the potential for "Dark Souls II" to become a title for PlayStation 4 or Xbox one, while in June 2013 he predicted that the Tokyo Games Show "will be a Beast of a show," as noted by Gematsu.

Imagine their E3 press conference opening with the usual epic video montage. Then the lights go out a-la The Last of Us gameplay reveal and we see gameplay for this game.

It would also make me even more dissapointed about Dark Souls 2. Eventhough DS2 nailed the core gameplay it was bland, unimaginetive and repetitive to a fault. Not even near worth all the praise. If it turns out that From Software was focusing most of it's resources on an exclusive, DS2 is nothing more than a cash grab.

If From Software pulls something as stupid as this I'm completely done with them. I'm not going to buy a PS4 because of them. If they do this I'm going to boycott every single one of their products. I won't support them even if I happened to buy a PS4 at some point.

Awesome, now I know what to use when a Titanfall game is announced for PS4.

Dude, get over this. It's another game, another team. You go and tell the team that did DS2 that they were doing a cash grab.

Seriously, these meltdown posts are getting civilized, seems like people learned from the Bayonetta 2 thread.
