RUMOR: Project Beast (From Software/Sony Japan Studio, PS4) [Port begging = ban]

IMO, Dark Souls 2 gets the online interactions perfect, in that I don't have to worry much about invasions in most areas or until NG+(I'm only past the first primal bonfire). But otherwise, teaming up is quick and easy. PvP/MMO has zero interest for me, so I'm sure I won't play NG+, but that's fine. Anyone interested in that sort of gameplay is the exact type of person who is min/maxing and naturally drawn towards refining their builds, and so I don't have to deal with them for the majority of the time.

NG+ is awesome because of the extra things added, and the changes made. Don't skip it because of Invasions.

sony's E3 is shaping up to be absolutely absurd.

-Project Beast [evolution of Souls series]
-Uncharted reveal [Naughty Dog's PS4 debut]
-Destiny [with beta date]
-The Order with finally some extended gameplay, and hopefully a date
-DriveClub
-potentially....The Last Guardian
You forgot Crash.

If Miyazaki is going to keep reiterating on his idea of whatever genre you want to call the Kings Field / Shadow Tower / Souls series with his own crew, then I really just want FROM's other Souls team to try and push the online nature of Dark Souls 2 to it's logical endpoint: A Dark Souls MMORPG (although DS2 kinda is already one.)
Hmmm. But Souls is all about solitude and the desperation that comes forth with it. I have nothing against an increased focus on both competitive en coop multiplayer but going for a 'massive online' formula doesn't sound logical at all.
MMORPG's also have a pretty negative connotation nowadays. Even among gamers, MMORPG's are considered empty shells for hollowed gamers and barely a step above mobile games.

add me to the hype train, yo.

Also, someone needs to put a pic of Sabin on there, except tied to the train tracks.
There will be no Suplexing THIS train.

I'm thinking something less like WoW and more like PSO, or Journey even.

Still limited communication between strangers and the same sort of game structure, and still be able to trek it alone if you want to (it'd be like the Champion's Covenant.) But you know, a little more social tools here, a little more larger player emphasis there. Go even wilder with the concept of Covenants that affect the game world, maybe even have custom ones.

Maybe it'd take away that "solitude", but quite frankly 65% of that feeling is tied into the art direction and whatever "magic" Miyazaki is capable of and in this ideal world he'd still be off making that experience you want with Demon's Beast 2 or whatever. So give up some of that "magic", and put in it's place what would be a very incredible multiplayer focused game that NO other game is like.

Like, fuck, co-oping the Sentinels just gets me thinking what it could be like if FROM's B-Team just gave up all "trying to capture that Miyazaki Magic" pretense and went for it.

I can't imagine why From Software would team-up with Sony again. I would tell them to piss off for not believing on them the first time. If it turns out that the top dogs of FS have been working with an exclusive the whole time I'll be pissed. Big time.

It would also make me even more dissapointed about Dark Souls 2. Eventhough DS2 nailed the core gameplay it was bland, unimaginetive and repetitive to a fault. Not even near worth all the praise. If it turns out that From Software was focusing most of it's resources on an exclusive, DS2 is nothing more than a cash grab.

If From Software pulls something as stupid as this I'm completely done with them. I'm not going to buy a PS4 because of them. If they do this I'm going to boycott every single one of their products. I won't support them even if I happened to buy a PS4 at some point.

Wow, is this guy serious ?

No please. Despite all the amazing Coop/PvP possibilities of the DS series, I still want to enjoy it 5-10 years later. Which won't happen with annual or bi-annual reiterations of a Souls MMO.

Increased focus on multiplayer elements is the future for Dark Souls. It'll be good to have two teams generating two different types of games, rather than one being forced to mimic the other (and being slapped with insulting tags like 'the b-team').

If only the B team knew how to make a proper online game. DS2 is like the MW2 of Souls games.

I was hoping for a Demon Souls 2 PS4 exclusive more or less in the same look/lineage of Demon Souls/Dark Souls. I don't care if its played out, its my bread and butter.

This new "Project Beast" looks interesting enough but the early screenshots make me think that this is a new PS3/360 title? Either way, I'll still gladly play it and am interested.

This thread has inspired me to pull Demon's Souls off the shelf and get punished all over again.

I missed out on boarding the first train, but please don't let me miss the new hype train.

Except Sony keeps saying TLG is still in development, and Yoshida hinted at it being a PS4 game now. Shenmue 3 and Agent don't exist.

Id think Agent would have more of a chance of existing in some sort of form over Shenmue 3.

I'm stunned. Nearly 150 pages of hype on literally 5 screenshots taken from Miyazakis new baby. The hype is real. Just imagine what it will be like when they reveal.

Anyone who missed Demons is no true fan of the series.

That's what makes these salt posts more hilarious.

...and the important thing is to be a true fan and not to just enjoy games and be done with it? Do I get points for being a true fan and what can I buy for those?

;)
