Seeing mods in this thread is like when you spot a teacher outside of school without their shirt and tie on.

They are some smart dewds though

Ha. Regardless of where one's stance would be in terms of whether we should or shouldn't take pride in having this gig in the real world, I think it should be pretty obvious that this would be a terrible idea. I'm certainly not going to highlight to prospective employers that I'll very likely be screwing around on a video game message board frequently due to the responsibilities associated with being a moderator there.
 
ok one tiny bit of info that mods may be able to share with us mortals...

it happened recently in the project beast thread but I've seen it a couple of times this year,

I always laugh my ass off cause whenever you see that sort of edit in the topic title, it means the thread is already a graveyard, you then go there to see the carnage and you can get a lesson on some serious trolling/meltdowns/allegations/drama/et all.

you then realize that the internet is a SERIOUS business.

I have too much time in my hands -_-

And please never change. No matter the thread or subject, I always enjoy reading your posts. Doesn't matter if I agree or disagree with the content; the form and thought put into your posts are always amazing.

I was expecting Opiate to argue that it wasn't just that it is "the taste we can see", but an aggressive advertising campaign aimed at children that contributes to childhood obesity. Then I would be sad and eat a bowl.

JK Captain Crunch has a donut cereal now, why wouldn't I try that instead.

I say this not just out of fear of being ousted for making demands, but honestly there's no reason to expect pay. It probably wouldn't be worthwhile if it was an actual job. As is, our responsibilities are what we want them to be. If we feel compelled to roll up our sleeves and really delve through a contentious thread that's dozens of pages long, that's our prerogative. As it stands though, I've never woken up, logged into NeoGAF and gotten a scathing PM for EviLore questioning how I let (link to contentious thread here) slide. If we ever feel like this gig is more trouble than what it's worth, we have the option to simply not do anything. Seeing as how I already have a full-time job that pays the bills, I prefer it that way.

jk but Stump is cool, he helped me discovered poutines and Shouta plays fighting games/runs tournies so he's cool I guess :P

Question for the mods: How well do you all get along and agree or disagree when it comes to member bans? I suspect some of the higher profile bans get debated in a mod only forum.

I was a mod for a few years at a different gaming forum and the main reason I “retired” from the position was the lack of support on infractions and bans (such as another mod reversing an infraction or ban). This happened too often and was very frustrating. It undermined the role that a mod was given and members began to use it for leverage.

I don’t see that here but curious if you guys have any struggles like this.
