My milkshake brings all the mods to the yard...

Seeing mods in this thread is like when you spot a teacher outside of school without their shirt and tie on.

They are some smart dewds though

You aren't the only one. I get this criticism a lot, and what I can say is that it's a deliberate choice. First, I believe emotion clouds analysis and objectivity; second, I often have controversial opinions or express depressing observations, and as such I deliberately attempt to avoid seeming hostile or angry or lugubrious when I express those opinions and observations.

But you are correct that this approach also seems to have downsides to many people. I can seem aloof and emotionless. This is not because I legitimately lack emotion; it's because I feel emotion has very little place in debate. This is simply an explanation of my tone.
This almost reads like an AI that has become self aware.

So like

do y'all put being a mod in your resumes.

Ha. Regardless of where one's stance would be in terms of whether we should or shouldn't take pride in having this gig in the real world, I think it should be pretty obvious that this would be a terrible idea. I'm certainly not going to highlight to prospective employers that I'll very likely be screwing around on a video game message board frequently due to the responsibilities associated with being a moderator there.

ok one tiny bit of info that mods may be able to share with us mortals...

WHO is the guy that likes to warm people with "Do This= BAN" in the gaming side?

it happened recently in the project beast thread but I've seen it a couple of times this year,

I always laugh my ass off cause whenever you see that sort of edit in the topic title, it means the thread is already a graveyard, you then go there to see the carnage and you can get a lesson on some serious trolling/meltdowns/allegations/drama/et all.

you then realize that the internet is a SERIOUS business.

I have too much time in my hands -_-

And please never change. No matter the thread or subject, I always enjoy reading your posts. Doesn't matter if I agree or disagree with the content; the form and thought put into your posts are always amazing.

One of the best on GAF. Fact.

You don't need emotion to see that there's cinnamon sugar all over every bite!

I was expecting Opiate to argue that it wasn't just that it is "the taste we can see", but an aggressive advertising campaign aimed at children that contributes to childhood obesity. Then I would be sad and eat a bowl.

JK Captain Crunch has a donut cereal now, why wouldn't I try that instead.

I'm gonna give it a try too

I only really see your posts in threads where there are serious debates. Are those the only kind you are interested in?

Nightmare fuel.

Remember when Bish said his avy was him dressed up for halloween?

Fake Edit: found it

Bish from real pic January 2012 said:
That pic was me (no joke) in Halloween 2010. My wife was dressed up as whatshername from the flick. I had her by a chain in her short shorts walking to a party at a friends condo downtown Vancouver and I swear to god guys wanted to fight me every few feet, it was AWESOME

Translation: I was not programmed to feel emotions. Bee-boop bee-boop.

I say this not just out of fear of being ousted for making demands, but honestly there's no reason to expect pay. It probably wouldn't be worthwhile if it was an actual job. As is, our responsibilities are what we want them to be. If we feel compelled to roll up our sleeves and really delve through a contentious thread that's dozens of pages long, that's our prerogative. As it stands though, I've never woken up, logged into NeoGAF and gotten a scathing PM for EviLore questioning how I let (link to contentious thread here) slide. If we ever feel like this gig is more trouble than what it's worth, we have the option to simply not do anything. Seeing as how I already have a full-time job that pays the bills, I prefer it that way.

Mods how many dicks does one gotta suck to get a tag round hur .

jk but Stump is cool, he helped me discovered poutines and Shouta plays fighting games/runs tournies so he's cool I guess :P

If you're PMing in about general policy or some kind of issue like that, yes, we will generally discuss it as a group with whoever is present when it's received.

If you're mod shopping for a different response because you didn't like the one you got, we will know as well.

Beyond that, the answer is maybe. >_>
Mod shopping? Are you saying I can buy my own mod?

I'll take a blue one, thanks!

Question for the mods: How well do you all get along and agree or disagree when it comes to member bans? I suspect some of the higher profile bans get debated in a mod only forum.

I was a mod for a few years at a different gaming forum and the main reason I “retired” from the position was the lack of support on infractions and bans (such as another mod reversing an infraction or ban). This happened too often and was very frustrating. It undermined the role that a mod was given and members began to use it for leverage.

I don’t see that here but curious if you guys have any struggles like this.

They are generally pretty smart, very down to earth. But I'm really afraid of bishop.

I'm new here, but long time lurker. I wouldn't feel comfortable posting on a thread where bishop is active.
He posts regularly in the blackgaf thread, he is just like everyone else, just with the power to strike you down at anytime :D

It's the worst when things like that happen. I know from experience.
