What? Did they show off one of their NPC figures?

As I said, it should release this year world wide, as long as localization has been going well.
They've been hyping it up equally in all territories.
Or if it does slip to 2015, it's early 2015.

January - X
February - The Witcher 3

I'd be in RPG bliss. I'd love X in 2014 too, though. Just as long as it came out before October. >_<

The Quick Start menu seems encouraging: another step taken towards having a piece of hardware that centers on video games over multimedia. Just getting a fast GamePad menu and immediately choosing the software (followed by selecting the account on multi-account systems) as shown seems comparable in my mind to swapping disks or cartridges.

It'd have to be October at the latest.

I'd guess the first NFC game will be November and Smash will be December, and they need to spread out their release schedule.

I imagine Zelda will be gamepad focused. Also Metroid is the Perfect franchise for a gamepad focused game.

As well as X.

Id like to see a great mario party game, as well as animal crossing.

star fox plz, i want that n64 experience again.

I'm actually pretty excited to see what they've been cooking up in terms of gamepad focused games. They should have been doing this from the very beginning with new IPs or something, but what ever. Hopefully what ever they've created is quirky, addictive, and fun.

most likely more minigame focused stuff

Me tooooo. I dont think it would be the greatest fit for clever gamepad uses though but then again Im could be wrong. Would be so awesome, and if Im not wrong the market is quite starved for those kind of games.

I suppose I'm in a minority when I say I want to play zelda with the pro controller or wii remote and not the gamepad?
Idk everyone wants a different play style. As bad as I want to use the gamepad I too want use wii motion plus again. But then the items and menu interface with the gamepad from ww is lost.

Old interview from 2012, but since e3 is close...

"With Metroid, it's very easy to imagine some interesting implementation for Wii U," Miyamoto said. "I think that having another screen with the gyro built in really gives you a lot of interesting opportunities for development, and we can bring a lot of our games to life in a completely unique way with that."

"I feel like the possibilities of the GamePad for Metroid could be really fantastic," he added. "There's certainly a lot that you could do there for that game."

Regarding Star Fox, Miyamoto said he was personally eager for this franchise to come to the Wii U, but he did not share any further information.

Although he didn't elaborate at all on any potential Wii U functionality, a representative told IGN that Star Fox was his #1 choice for a Wii U title. Fingers crossed!

Doesnt mean much, since he wanted star fox on the Wii. Still, fun to read for the hope of a possibility.

How many tea tables must he flip, to get his Star Fox?

The implementation of the gamepad is one of the reasons why I'm so excited about the Zelda U reveal... that and the art-style, music, story, and setting :D. I'm just really amped for all of it XD.

In the Iwata asks for starfox 64 3d I think I remember they were saying that games performance would determine the future of the franchise. If that was true then I Guess it doesnt bode well.

I'm guessing NFC game will come out even earlier than that (it and Bayonetta will be Summer releases) and Yarn Yoshi will be October.

Direct NFC for the WiiU is well and good, but the NFC peripheral unit for the 3DS communicates to it via IR.

Do you even need original figurines if you can replicate the IR signals? A programmable universal remote or just about any smartphone should be capable of this.

I hope Nintendo have thought this through.

any chance Nintendo announces N64,virtual boy,GameCube,DS and even Wii virtual console? GameCube and DS first Nintendo.

There hasn't been any issues with the DS versions of the Skylanders, so why would this be any different now?

So, I guess the NFC game and the Zelda will be a huge portion of the Digital Event. Probably something like 15-20 minutes. X, Bayo, Yarn Yoshi, Smash, Hyrule Warriors and te rest of the Wii U games(indies, third party) will be like 10-15 minutes and the rest will be about 3DS( Pokemon ORAS, Smash and w/e they announce). It doesn't look that bad.

I wonder what the NFC games are actually going to be.

Maybe a 3D platformer, an action game, and something like Animal Crossing/Harvest Moon etc?

If they're all good games I'll be poor :'(

You might be able to spoof the IR signal, but it should be pretty damn hard to spoof the NFC chip. NFC chips aren't necessarily just storage units, they are usually processors and can employ rather sophisticated authentication and encryption features.

So we know that there are at list 2 unseen Wii U games to be shown: the Gamepad enforcer and the Money milker (NFC), both to be release this year. X and Bayo 2 are also stated for 2014. That means at list 5 games (including SSB) post E3 until year's end.

The Iwata asks on Star Fox 64 3D implied they would not bother with Star Fox again if they did not bring in new fans. In other words if you answered yes to the Club Nintendo survey question "have you played games in the series" you're not a new fan in Nintendo's eyes.

That said I wonder if the Wii U really introduces new fans of anything really so will it matter in motive to put of the project. Maybe still since existing fans ends up as a contracting market as self loathing players. See Fire Emblem for a good example.

Design your own mech with the gamepad!

This is both a wonderful and terrifying idea at the same time. On one hand, "porting" over Eva Unit 01, Alteisen Riese/Nacht, Bonta-kun, and so forth would be pretty neat. On the other, I dread the inevitable penis Dolls.

Hoping to not being disappointed by ZeldaU.

Other than that I'm pretty sure there will be surprises this year.
