At the Corporate Management Policy Briefing this January, I explained that the company would prioritize making and proposing Wii U software titles that can only be made possible with the Wii U GamePad. We are planning to disclose our progress on this at E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) in Los Angeles in June.
And yet we still know practically nothing about it. I don't believe.
As I said, it should release this year world wide, as long as localization has been going well.
They've been hyping it up equally in all territories.
Or if it does slip to 2015, it's early 2015.
I'm actually pretty excited to see what they've been cooking up in terms of gamepad focused games. They should have been doing this from the very beginning with new IPs or something, but what ever. Hopefully what ever they've created is quirky, addictive, and fun.
January - X
February - The Witcher 3
I'd be in RPG bliss. I'd love X in 2014 too, though. Just as long as it came out before October. >_<
I imagine Zelda will be gamepad focused. Also Metroid is the Perfect franchise for a gamepad focused game.
Star fix plz, I want that gamecube experienxe again. As well as X.
Id like to see a great mario party game, as well as animal crossing.
star fox plz, i want that n64 experience again.
Zelda will be one of those titles.. Bet money

I suppose I'm in a minority when I say I want to play zelda with the pro controller or wii remote and not the gamepad?
Idk everyone wants a different play style. As bad as I want to use the gamepad I too want use wii motion plus again. But then the items and menu interface with the gamepad from ww is lost.I suppose I'm in a minority when I say I want to play zelda with the pro controller or wii remote and not the gamepad?
"With Metroid, it's very easy to imagine some interesting implementation for Wii U," Miyamoto said. "I think that having another screen with the gyro built in really gives you a lot of interesting opportunities for development, and we can bring a lot of our games to life in a completely unique way with that."
"I feel like the possibilities of the GamePad for Metroid could be really fantastic," he added. "There's certainly a lot that you could do there for that game."
Regarding Star Fox, Miyamoto said he was personally eager for this franchise to come to the Wii U, but he did not share any further information.
Although he didn't elaborate at all on any potential Wii U functionality, a representative told IGN that Star Fox was his #1 choice for a Wii U title. Fingers crossed!

Old interview from 2012, but since e3 is close...
Doesnt mean much, since he wanted star fox on the Wii. Still, fun to read for the hope of a possibility.
How many tea tables must he flip, to get his Star Fox?
It'd have to be October at the latest.
I'd guess the first NFC game will be November and Smash will be December, and they need to spread out their release schedule.
Im probably in the minority when I want motion + Controls to Return.
Direct NFC for the WiiU is well and good, but the NFC peripheral unit for the 3DS communicates to it via IR.
Do you even need original figurines if you can replicate the IR signals? A programmable universal remote or just about any smartphone should be capable of this.
I hope Nintendo have thought this through.
Possibly a new revision. How likely do you guys think some new 3DS news is? Like a price drop or whatever
Ooh really? So should I hold off in getting one until then?Possibly a new revision.
I believe we will see a new model this year, but it might not even be at E3. The XL was announced a month after E3.Ooh really? So should I hold off in getting one until then?
You might be able to spoof the IR signal, but it should be pretty damn hard to spoof the NFC chip. NFC chips aren't necessarily just storage units, they are usually processors and can employ rather sophisticated authentication and encryption features.Direct NFC for the WiiU is well and good, but the NFC peripheral unit for the 3DS communicates to it via IR.

Well either way, that's not so far off. I guess I'll hold on for a bit longer. Thanks!I believe we will see a new model this year, but it might not even be at E3. The XL was announced a month after E3.
The Iwata asks on Star Fox 64 3D implied they would not bother with Star Fox again if they did not bring in new fans. In other words if you answered yes to the Club Nintendo survey question "have you played games in the series" you're not a new fan in Nintendo's eyes.Doesnt mean much, since he wanted star fox on the Wii. Design your own mech with the gamepad! While Monolith has expressed enthusiasm towards the gamepad, I don't really see what they'd be able to do with it beyond UI stuff. X isn't the kind of game to show off the gamepad's novel uses.
Design your own mech with the gamepad!
Share them through miiverse or QR codes I could see people doing some amazing work with that not me though I suck at that type of thingDesign your own mech with the gamepad!
I doubt it. There's really no point to it and it would be a horrible failure.I think we may see a more compact StreetPass device.
