The game straight up implies that it's a thing exclusive to Kalos.

I personally don't like them, and while I understand others may do, I think for the sake of calling this a "remake" they should keep them out, at least until post E4.

I'm behind on a lot of stuff with this gen, but is it feasible for there to be new Mega forms? How would they interact with XY? I thought the director said they wouldn't be patching the games with extra content.

At the very least, we're getting a Mega Lati@s, suggesting they'll be in Hoenn as well. They're also a major game mechanic, so they're probably not going anywhere lol.

It would be like if they removed the ability to change Deoxys forms... But for like twenty different Pokemon at once lol.

I'm with everyone that hates mega evolutions. I haven't been able to really pinpoint the exact reason, but I've thought it's maybe because I dislike the temporary state that a mega evolution is. It just feels so out of place.

I can go either way on them but I do like how they make certain Pokemon useful or change up their roles. I mainly want ones for Sceptile and Swampert to go with Blaziken, and maybe one for Sableye to go with Mawile, I dunno. A lot of the Megas are already from Gen 3 so I don't think they'd have to add that many.

I think that's the best part about them. Mega Scizor is better than Scizor. If it was a new evolution, you'd never have any reason to use normal Scizor if you didn't like the evolutions design, now you do. It also adds a great strategic elements to battles. Not to mention that it keeps the roster from expanding even further past 700. Also, they were clearly running out of ideas for how to evolve old pokemon, that shit got ridiculous in DP.

Mega Evolutions are a different because they're a shift mid-match. It would require a patch.

Mega Sceptile better be competitively viable, dammit. XY seems like the perfect time to introduce RSE remakes because of how similarly-paced the metagames are. It'd suck getting Ruby and Sapphire enhancements in the hyper-offensive metagame of Gen V, for example. I could see Sceptile either being a hit-and-run scout or being a more bulky attacker.

So much mega evolution disdain ITT. I honestly love them and hope they're a continued thing in the franchise. It gave so many Pokemon some cool new toys or some pretty well done second attempts visually (M-Blaziken > vanilla Blaziken, M-Lucario > vLucario, both M-Charizards > Charizard, M-Ampharos > Ampharos, M-Banette > Banette, M-Mawile > Mawile, etc.) and it also represents a second chance for a lot of established Pokemon that either max out quickly or could change for the sake of keeping things interesting.

I have no opinions on if there should be more megas or not. Its a neat thing to use when I want to make battles suddenly epic but I don't really use them that much. Mega Salamence and Flygon can be cool though.
