Hey, the first cap is great. You watch your mouth there!

The first cap has the distinction of being the second worst Marvel Phase 1 movie, and yes that's also taking into account Norton's Hulk film. At least that had the ever beautiful Arwen (that's who she will always be to me) in it to lift it's stock. Nothing will ever touch Iron Man 2 for being the worst of the bunch. Not even Sam Rockwell's sexiness could save it. Man that guy could wear the shit out of a suit.

Marvel movies, in my opinion:

Great- Ironman, Avengers
Ok- Captain America, Ironman 3
Meh- Thor, Thor 2, TIH
Shit- Ironman 2.

Non MCU recent marvel movies:
Great- X Men First Class, ASM2
Meh-ASM

I haven't see cap 2 and wolverine.

DC comics:
Great- TDK, Batman Begins
Ok- TDKR, Man of steel
Shit- Green Lantern.

Happy to see Neighbors success. Everybody was pretty hilarious in it, but I felt like Byrne stole the show. She was terrific.

It wasn't the best R rated comedy in years, but it's worth your money. Not as good as This is the End specifically.

You shouls see Cap 2 its up there with IM and avengers imo. id also put Thor 1 over thor 2 and tih

Like all Marvel movies, overseas is where its at. ASM 2 will match the previous movie based on the overseas numbers, might even do better.
Sony probably is not happy with just matching or barely outdoing it. Inflation, lower returns on overseas gross versus domestic, a larger budget, and loss of merchandise revenue all point to this being a venture with declining profitability for Sony.

I seriously do not understand the dislike for Man of Steel.
Can someone explain?

All I read Is that it was a disappointment, but I don't read why. wheres the why?

It had terrible characterization despite its dramatic leanings and the action didn't make up for it.That's my basic view.

Also, Pa Kent getting swallowed by a tornado was hilarious.

I really enjoy Man of Steel, because it feels like a DBZ movie. But that tornado scene was fucking hilarious.

The only thing good out of DC were the first two Nolan Batman films, or have we forgotten how abysmal the Green Lantern was and how meh Man of Steel ended up being? Marvel? Thor 2, Iron Man 2, the first Captain America were steaming piles of shit.

Save for GL, I enjoyed all those other movies far more than ASM2.

The problem with ASM2 is it's all building up to something big before it collapses into a wet fart. The other huge problem was it felt like a stage show in some parts why are people standing behind barriers watching while Electro goes ape shit? Like this is live theatre same thing with the end of the film with Rhino a giant mechanical rhino with giant guns is standing in the middle of the street lets all stand behind this flimsy barrier and watch. Frankly none of the villains with the exception of Harry felt actually dangerous.

If Sony's next idea is to have the Sinister Six dressed in those militarised outfits at the end of the movie then my god I fear for them.

They need to raise the stakes a bit. How about Kraven or Mysterio? You could have some real fun with that.

Yo, I wasn't even born then. Most things before my time are ancient history to me. I can't watch old movies with the exception of the Alien franchise, Predator, and Die Hard. I tried the old Star Wars movies and gave up after the first one.

so i watched neighbors

there was this scene when the fraternity is moving in. and seth and rose are talking about them as they're watching them through the window.

seth says how zak is a male specimen and rose says wow look at the blonde (zak's gf), and seth being coy says i dont see a blonde. i laughed pretty hard to a quiet audience for some reason that joke went over everyone's heads.

I don't get the funny bro :(

I expect stiff competition in the following weeks to hurt ASM2's legs but I do have to wonder how much pull a Godzilla reboot and an X-Men sequel have on the market. (Didn't The Wolverine underperform?)

Godzilla only needs to do half of what it's tracking at.

Both Neighbors and Spider-Man down about $2 million from the forecast:

http://boxofficemojo.com/weekend/chart/?yr=2014&wknd=19&p=.htm

Neighbors Uni. $49,033,915
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Sony $35,501,212

TASM2 drop is 61.2%. Almost the same as SM3 -- 61.5%.

Same opening weekend multiplier as Spider-Man 3 puts Amazing Spider-man at $204M domestic. I think that $225M is looking to be about as high as the film will get domestically.

Dear God that would be hilarious.

god damn it overseas people, stop watching ASM2!

As expected, Spidey has no legs in North America. Godzilla will hurt it this week, and then you have X-Men next week.

Kind of amazing that not only has Iron Man surpassed Spidey at the box office, but Captain America might, too...

I don't see ASM2 beating Cap 2's box office let alone getting near $700 million ww. The latter had multiple weekends all to itself and was received much more favorably domestically while Spidey already lost the top spot on its second weekend. Foreign gross is currently picking up the slack, but by Friday it will be ASM2's 5th weekend overseas. (3rd domestic)

I do however wonder if releasing Spider-Man so much later domestically (2 weeks) hurt its potential gross between possibly deflated interest (not releasing when hype was high, having spoilers everywhere) and negative word of mouth from critics. Does anyone knowledgeable enough concerning movie releases think this could be a potential cause?

It will only be the 2nd weekend in China.

Don't worry, overseas the hype has died a week ago.

Completely forgot about China, but hasn't it technically been out for 2 weeks now making this weekend its 3rd?
No. It launched on a Sunday workday (they move workdays around to accommodate holidays) and only had its first weekend this past weekend.

And people were saying Godzilla is irrelevant/wouldn't hurt ASM2's legs :lol

It was like maybe one or two people.

Granted, they REALLY believed - but still, even at the time, I don't think anyone was calling much more than 70 mil opening. Anywhere between 90-100 is pretty nuts. I wouldn't have expected a Godzilla movie to open at 100, but I do think the combination of advertising blitz and name recognition obviously helped like I thought it would.
