Driveclub "the new" footage in HD

The art direction seems pretty poor to me. There's junk littered on every side of the track that's distracting and doesn't blend with the scenery.

And why have wires crossing all over the place if you don't have the AA to have them not be shimmering messes?

I'm like the exact opposite for all the reasons you stated. I'm not so much impressed about the graphical quality as i am about the level of detail used in the design of the course. Unparalleled for sure and it works handsomely.

That being said, i'm missing a bit of oomph when watching the racing itself. It also doesn't seem to bring anything really new to the table.

Didn't notice the aliasing at that speed. What stuck out to me was how weirdly reflective the car's undercarriage is. Even if it were literally a mirror it wouldn't be that bright. Distracting.

...it's India. The art direction is absolutely PERFECT for where the track is actually located.

It's less the location specific stuff which is generally nice but the nonsense "race" stuff like the colored banners, overhanging gantries, etc. Let the scenery shine through!

Stop with the hyperbole.

I'm reading the aliasing is "prominent" and "in my face". I finally get the download to complete and the aliasing is on power lines zipping by, and faintly on the rear wing. The two worst case scenarios for AA, and not very noticeable. You definitely can't notice it if you're driving, because looks like you'd be doing a lot of crashing.

There's aliasing, but everything doesn't have to be the greatest or most horrific thing ever. The game looks good, and has a good sense of speed. I'm eagerly waiting for the release. PEACE.

You said it better than I could.

As far as I know, the only way to get rid of the aliasing on power lines is to supersample them. I believe Gran Turismo is doing that, and these guys should as well, as it must be something very inexpensive if a 60FPS sim game on PS3 could do it.

Even with that, this looks absolutely fantastic, and also has much better IQ than the previous footage they released.

I was far too busy being blown away by the amazing visuals, lighting, reflections and sound effects.

And really, will people notice the aliasing that much when they are actually playing the game?

Too be fair people downed forza 5 for aliasing and I barely noticed it myself.

Probably the same case here.

I don't mean to be unfair, but do you think so? The overall "scene" is great (which may be your overall point, which I'd agree with), but looking at any element, even without the motion blur, it just gives...I dunno. I don't want to be unfair, but this is what the detail in the middle-ground looks like, right at the start of the race where the motion blur isn't too dramatic, from a direct-feed shot.

Aside from the soft look of it, things like the foliage and the details just look...off. That being said, the course design looks fun. I'd like to what the style looks like in something closer to a city setting.

Forza 5 had a lot of downgrades from their reveal. Aliasing was only one of the many complaints that came up, just like we do for every game that shows obvious downgrades from the reveal to release.

yea i think you are right, I don't think MSAA will be able to get rid of the jaggies on the powerlines. BF3 had the same problem

FXAA is the shit stain in gaming tech. Why the fuck any dev would decide to use it over SMAA is beyond me (I'm looking at you GG).

I read your whole post with this gif in mind

Looks absolutely fantastic both graphically and in terms of handling model. A real sense of atmosphere and speed, with gorgeous surrounding environments and vehicle detailing. However, they need to sort the jaggies out on those power lines, it is distracting. Racing definitely looks faster and more aggressive in the cockpit and road cam views, almost dangerously so.

I genuinely think this game looks really bad for a 30fps racer, an exclusive, with the hype it has had. I will just leave it now. Deffo not buying. Something to do with the foliage and track side detail/textures etc just looks way off and wrong. Then there's the jaggies. Car models and lighting looks nice but I'm really not feeling anything else. Hope it does well, but I would have killed for an exclusive next gen motorstorm, me and my mates played pacific rift and apocalypse a lot.

I bet it plays well tho knowing the pedigree, and the sound track will be immense, Sorry but I am out evolution unless it gets great reviews.

Noticed the aliasing on overhead lines but the overall scene is fucking breathtaking to take in. Can't wait to race in those environments as the lighting changes.

Looks and sounds incredible.

Improving the AA would be nice but not quite a deal-breaker as the road and cars themselves were clear and easy to make out even at a distance - its just the roadside details criss-crossing the sky that have issues.

ITT: people exaggerating aliasing..
its not even half as bad a people make it
I think its just that people expect better for a 30fps game. Reminds me of Forza 5's AA issues.

I knew i'd hop in here and see 50% bitching. Those that don't think this isn't at least matching the reveal footage are just determined to nitpick this game to hell.

Small bit of aliasing? Yeah, that's frigging it. Nothing else negative can be said about this footage without using hyperbole or just flat out making up stuff to hate.

Besides, it easily has 4 more months of development.

That post history says it all. Why post here ?

Oh, so after all of your personal observations, if reviewers like, you'll buy it. Makes sense.

Mate, you're not fooling anyone.

I am sorry but wow. There must be a lot of crow getting eaten here. I have not read the thread, but what is going on with this game graphically. If you have ever insulted forza 5, I feel bad for you right now.

try waiting for the game to be released first......in october....

I love the bitching about the bitching. This game's hype has been and is still primarily being built up on its focus on visuals, so don't be surprised if people appreciate and criticize them. Game has obvious IQ issues that any other game would get dinged for.

I agree with the AA critics, but if they release this game exactly how it actually is I am already damn satisfied! It is gorgeous!!

The lighting and reflexes effects summed up with that level of details are amazing! A trully next gen title!! Also the gameplay looks good, and those 30fps seems stable!

Day 1 for me!

I respectfully disagree, and point you to some of the substantiated posts above, including a few by me

There being noticeable visual shortcomings doesn't mean the game becomes not-fun or unplayable. With things in front of you, most games' visuals eventually "fade away" when you get into the feel of it, but that's not what the conversations are about. I'm stoked for this, but there are obvious differences between what we're seeing now compared to previous "captured on PS4" footage, and even taken on its own, I'm seeing a strangely soft image with noticeably lower-quality foliage alpha effects, and aliasing. There are shortcomings to the visuals compared to the expectations built up. Full stop. That doesn't keep the overall scene from impressing, or take away from some beautiful effects in place that really make this game's presentation stand out.

Obviously some people react more harshly (or with less evidence) than others, but as someone who's taking the best-quality images we can get and seeing shortcomings, I don't like being bunched in with reactionary drivel.

will this game have any damage modelling? The motorstorm games had nice damage modeling and the vehicles broke apart very nicely

Hasn't it been long said that it's cosmetic only and, from the looks of all collisions on video so far, not very comprehensive. Falls inline with every other licensed car game on consoles, AFAICT.
