Driveclub "the new" footage in HD

Absolutely this.

DRIVECLUB is still in development so the image quality you can see does not reflect the final quality of the game.
Well, last we heard, the game was completed last year, and it was delayed to overhaul the menu and club system, not the graphics?

Same, it looks good but nothing mindblowing.
Agreed, the game looks too plain. Nothing exciting going on. It is lacking weather effects, collision physics and the tracks look a bit static

I expected these things in Evo's next game after playing the motorstorm games.

If you believe they delayed a game a year to work solely on a menu and not also the engine, graphics, content, etc, then I have a bridge to sell you.

I think its just that people expect better for a 30fps game. Reminds me of Forza 5's AA issues.

I think it's worse than Forza 5 just because the aliasing seems more obvious given the increased details in the environments. The lighting looks great, though. Also, yeah... 30fps sets a certain level of expectation. Hopefully we get a good antialiasing method added to the game before launch. They still have lots of time.

Does anyone find the black levels on these videos particularly dark besides me? Maybe the gamma looks correct on my home monitor, so I'll look at the videos again later tonight.

I believe weather and car damage have both been confirmed for the game actually. Unless you're just referring to this video?

If anyone looks for me, I'm in my room being all mopey that we didn't get this game:

Looks like a car just smashed into Knack, nooooo!

Aliasing on the lines is distracting. Let's hope the remaining months can improve upon that.

Otherwise looks very good and lighting is perfect and the quality is ridiculously better than IGN!

My comments to the Evolution team:-

Thanks for releasing the footage - quality MUCH better.

- Please draw the thin lines anti-aliased (Xiaolin Wu's?). This should eliminate the sub-pixel issue you have now. It's really an eye sore and distracting

- The motion blur looked low quality in earlier footage but this looks much improved but have noticed dithering when you transition to nighttime. I hope you can improve this

- Hope you're trying out the AA solution from Sucker Punch

- The engine sounds much better than GT6 but the Zonda doesn't sound right (rear view)

- Please improve the smoke from the tyres

- More motion blur when you hit something would be ideal

- Have you tried a touch more motion blur when turning fast round a bend?

Just noticed something I didn't in the IGN video....how in the world are we all missing it?

The sky and environment is reflecting under the engine....Inside the car. I can't unsee it now. It's like the reversed F5 mirrors x 10.

The poly-count in that engine bay is rough too. Perhaps we'll see a bump out of Beta.

Rushy said in an interview with ign a few days ago that the visuals were absolutely being worked on. The delay allowed them to add in other effects that weren't gonna be there before, etc.

He also said the delay allowed them to add more content. Including cars and tracks.

And to the people complaining about the AA, this Evolution we're talking about here. The studio that puts everything together at the very last minute! Remember the Pacific Rift demo that came out that looked barren and not so great? Then a few weeks later the full game came out and was awesome?! Yeah, I believe in Evolution to get the job done right. Even if it takes them till the very last minute.

Yep, and watching the videos again it really is distracting at times. I hope that we see much improved AA at launch, and if not, they should consider removing some of the worst offending bits from the track, or tweaking them to compensate.

Still, again, the overall effect is magnificent.

pretty much all the tracks they have shown so far are static looking.

A minor complaint, just wish the game looked as lively as the motorstorm games

I hope for this. Game will look insane if clean. Insane

Great options of camera position.

I think all those wires was a poor choice, they really stand out and make you wish they had a better AA solution. There is also something wrong with the light in the edge of the card parts, I don't know how to describe it.

Any word on weather effects? There's no excuse not to have them in the game with an October release date.

There will be weather.

We don't know what types of weather, but one assumes/hope they'll have the basics at least. I'm hoping for a thick snow blizzard at night, would make for an eye meltingly awesome display...

The overhead track-event "loops" look really cool in the reflections on the car surface, I wish the cables blended in a little better, because they give a similar effect (which is great for the sense of speed). I understand why they're in there, even if they have some problems.

Didn't look much better than GT5 tbh? or maybe i'm wrong, been awhile since I played GT5.

GT5's photo mode maybe....other than that GT is FAR too inconsistent to give it a ton a praise....it tries to do too much.

Weather has never been confirmed and only brought up because the community asks about it. They only say it COULD be patched in later. Car damage is only visual and not mechanical.

When was that confirmed?

Will wait to judge for the final version, wich i will buy regardless since i hardly miss a racing game (except NFS)

So far i was expecting a lot more since they decided to go 30fps

Weather was mentioned in one of their latest videos, shortly after the release date and PS+ upgrade version video. Its at the very least one of the options you set when creating challenges, besides track and time of day and the others.

Great to see the usual suspects downplay it. Which reminds me, I should go and buy it, I mean it's obviously finished, right?

It does look way too reflective. But technically, it should be somewhat reflective because of the underplate/skid plate

I love the bitching about the bitching. This game's hype has been and is still primarily being built up on its focus on visuals, so don't be surprised if people appreciate and criticize them. Game has obvious IQ issues that any other game would get dinged for.

I'm with you, I think the bitching about the bitching is also hil-arious.

Well, where have you been all of this time? The backhanded butthurt is always strong in X1 threads with something neat but not that neat...certainly not neat enough to pay any money for, not like the all-powerful other system with all of its non-moneyhatted exclusives featuring actual soul running at 1080p/60fps and perfect image quality. It's tiring reading past the dumb posts made by people who claim not to be interested at all in the system and its games, until it drops Kinect and goes for $99 and then maybe, just maybe, it will be okay...but only for the couple decent games it has. And, remember, maker of X1-only game was never all that good, anyway. Console wars, they're lame.

Maybe slightly...and with the engine bay uncovered...you would get some reflection (equal to the body).

The car in the game has the rear cover and body on it though....it's reflecting straight through body and engine as if it's a mirror mounted on the roof. ;)

Pretty sure they'll fix that.

Expected more, since they are focusing on graphics. The cockpits are good, but that aliasing is distracting, even more when there are lots of foliage on the side of the road.

Looks pretty nice. I was a big fan of Motorstorm, and the bumper cam looks fantastic. So, unless explicitly told otherwise, I guess the safest assumption is that nothing I see in the clips coming out these days will be included in my PS+ Edition?

The Plus stands for Prologue.™

Looks good to me! the lightning is sooooo good
yes, the AA needs a little tweaking

...and I love a Racing game that is willing to give the player many camera options!

Oh man I love the environments in this game. That India stage looks glorious. So does the Norwegian (?) track. I have to say this game looks extremely good. I'm not so sure about some of the design choices (like 30FPS) and I'm not a huge fan of racing games like this in general but I have to give them credit for what they have been able to put together.

In an IGN interview talking about the delay Rushy mentioned they've been improving the visuals, audio and handling and have been adding content during the delay as well.

Didn't look much better than GT5 tbh? or maybe i'm wrong, been awhile since I played GT5.
I literally just played GT5 a few hours ago. You're wrong.

If they can implement Infamous's AA solution in this I will be giddy.

You don't want temporal on something scrolling that fast. Even if Infamous solution doesn't have that much ghosting, due to reprojection it still there and would really show up on a game like this.
Motorstorm had 2xMSAA but they did implement it very late in the developpement i remember. That's all what we can hope for, MSAA.
