Just came to say I am having a blast with Ys 4 on vita! Combat is awesome, story is fine so far, controls are great, cool crafting system, and special moves system, cool upgrade system. After 8 hours I'm really enjoying this game. Only $19 too.

I like it faaaaaaaaaar more that FFX. And unfortunately I paid $40 for that game. I'll never get that money back because digital.
:(

So you like Ys more than FFX, but do you not like FFX at all? If it makes you feel better, you wouldn't get all the money back if it was physical anyway.

I'd at least get SOME money back. But it's all good. I just can't get into FFX. At all. Got to the blitzball part and I just had to put it down. It's just not fun for me. Usually when the gameplay isn't up to par I rely on the story to push me along but even that is not doing it for me in FFX. Idk. I might go back to it just out of principle and the fact I already spent money on it.

Does it get better?

In my own albeit biased opinion, yes it gets much better. Combat is much more satisfying with the full party and more overdrives unlocked and more skills to use. That said, I'm not sure if it gets different enough that you will like it if you aren't really feeling it. What exactly about the gameplay do you not like? To me it is one of the most refined and well done turn based battle systems ever.

Also, totally agree about Ys, loved that game on vita. Hard to compare an action active battle system of Ys to the turn based FFX though.

I'm not sure what it is I don't like. I'll give it some more time after Ys to give it a fair shake.

Seems Amazon.com is having a sale on VITA memory cards. The 32GB version is currently $69.64, down from $99.99 retail. I can't imagine it's ever been lower. Since I'm only just recently gotten a VITA and only have a 4GB card, I should probably jump on this but I'm wondering what VitaGAF thinks.

Does this mean Binding of Isaac is coming soon?

I hope so but I doubt it. Gonna stay tuned on E3 though. They might give the release dates.

Buy a 64GB instead. It'll be much more cost efficient since most of them get sold at around $99-110 dollars. You have to import though.

Didn't know 32Gb ones cost that much though. Local retailers at my place sells them for $50 and 64gb for around $80-90. It's in Asia though.

Nah, they're always around that price.

And $70 for 32gb is a complete ripoff and a joke. Wait for a real sale like when they're $40 or so. It only happens a few times a year but its worth it.

Pretty sure the new retail price was $80

Listen to dis guy. Its just over $80 at superufo

I'm actually excited for E3. Maybe with the new push of Xbox to improve their network, Sony will improve the PSN too. Simple things like organizing the download list, Fixing the slow download speeds from the PSN, and the frequent maintenance despite the growing PS+ membership might happen. Competition is good.

For the Vita however, I don't know how SCEA will treat it. They have a new boss so things might get better a little bit, but maybe it might turn for the worse.

They will say their usual bullshit about how "they are fully supporting the Vita" and then announce ports that nobody asked for.

I almost never use reaction gifs, but the one below exactly mirrors my feelings on Binding of Issac Rebirth.

It really is crazy how oddly bad some stuff is even in this day and age. Like, why do all my PS3 games show up on my Vita download list? Why can I not sort this list in any way? Just simple toggles such as games only or DLC only would be so helpful. Worst though was when my PS+ lapsed for a day it totally scrambled my entire list.

I actually enjoy FFX for it's gameplay and some what the story. I dislike the story at the later parts though. Not a fan of the Tidus and Yuna either. I'm not sure if it'll get better for you.

I mean, there's not much weight in a bias opinion, but at least you're open about it...

In which store is Ys at 19$? PSN US? Or physical version?

You can't really have an opinion without bias, which is why the term "objective opinion" is an oxymoron. Using a game as an example, your opinion of the game is formed based on how much weight you put on certain aspects of the game. If the game runs at 30 FPS while you prefer 60, you are biased against the game, whereas someone who doesn't care about FPS but instead prefers action games to turn based is biased in a different way.

Anyway, I just felt disingenuous not mentioning my own bias, as FFX is one of my favorite games of all time because I played it as a kid. Thats why I tried to describe why I thought the combat got better with facts about how things change, instead of just saying "yes it gets way better!".

Oof that sounded more serious than I meant it to! To lighten the mood, here's a link to a slightly relevant website that I have enjoyed recently: http://www.objectivegamereviews.com/resogun-review/

As suspected it looks like Bigfest is multiplatform.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/05/14/promote-real-music-in-bigfest-on-ps-vita/

See the video. While browsing the friend list to visit their festivals you can clearly see ps vita being mentioned. If it was exclusive why would they specify the platform.

The game was about promoting music and you actually thought it was going to a be a Vita only game? It didn't make sense at all IMO. I was expecting it to be multiplatform / timed exclusive.

For that money you'd better get a 64GB memory card.

:O

No...case...?? You monster! Anyone else sporting a naked Vita?

Hmm, yea I owned my Vita 1000 for over a year before selling it for the 2000 and I never used a case. Thing was flawless condition too. I never really saw the point of a case, I keep my vita in a separate pocket in my bag, have all but one game digital, and have a screen protector on the front screen (no matter how scratch proof they claim glass is, I'd rather know I can just replace the screen protector if it gets scratched rather than have a scratched screen forever). Don't have a case for my 2000 either, don't really plan on getting one. Might get a grip though, but the new vita is so comfortable I don't feel like I have to.

I don't use protection for all my devices. It now has scratches, dents, and others all over the chrome (?) part. The manufacturers test these devices before shipping them right? So I am just using it and hope for the best. They designed it to last, so why not "test" the durability of these gadgets.

My vita still has its original screen protector and back panel protector though.

Preferring 60 FPS over 30 FPS isn't being biased. It's a fair opinion since 60 FPS really is better than 30 FPS. If someone doesn't care for FPS, than that person just doesn't care. However, FFX being one of your favorite games of all time because you played it as a kid is being biased. Unless of course, you still love it without nostalgia clouding your thoughts.

My Vita has been a nudist since I got it lol

I was for awhile, then I bought an HTC screen protector and a Nyko grip recently and I don't think I can go back.

Exibicionist here!

I want to get one as soon as posible. Next time I buy a game in Amazon I'll get a "soft" one since I don't bring it out that much and they're cheaper.
For those risk taking exhibitionists...more power to ya! I could never leave mine out for more than a few hours. I have been leaving it around more, outside of the case, as it is a great sight to see it from time to time when I am not playing it, but I couldn't stand not having a case. I have the same case (PDP Pull n Go) for both my Vita's, and have been thinking of getting a third slim line hard shell. I do take mine with me everywhere, thoguh, and that could be a big factor in some people's plans.

Happy to see at the least, screen protectors are on there!! Grips count a little better than no case, as some of it is protected. Show it some extra love by giving it a good cleaning, it'll thank ya :D

Played Ridge Racer for about an hour. The actual gameplay is fun and after downloading all the DLC the amount of content is ok for the price I paid. Still sucks that there isn't a real campaign mode though. You can only do single racers after each other and have to go through the horribly designed touchscreen menu every time.

After already buying the Pacman car skin accidentially I just bought the Daytona DLC to really have an ultimate experience. It's not really worth it though. Don't like the song that much, expected more from it. But for what it's worth, it's probably the closest thing to the Sega arcade racers (except the PSP games) we will get on Vita and the nostalgia got the better of me. What would I give for an Outrun...

Back to Ridge Racer, if you are looking for a good old arcade racer, you should consider it. Unfortunately, there aren't many alternatives to it on the Vita.

Ridge racers PSP, Ridge racer type 4 PSOne

Possibly also split/second PSP but I've not played it (loved the PS3 version thoug)

Ive had a Vita since launch - no grips, no case and no screen protector. Its still in perfect condition. Feels so good in my hands never felt the need for some goofy lookin' attachment.

You're thinking of bias too much as a binary thing and not enough as a scale. It isn't about one thing being better than another, it is how much you value it. If two people review a game at 30 FPS, and one values FPS more than the other, they might give the game a 5/10 vs a 7/10 respectively. Both of them would have scored the game higher had it been 60 FPS because it is clearly better, but the value they assigned to that FPS change was different, which is a clear example of bias.

Now, obviously, such bias has a reasonable basis, versus liking a game from childhood or nostalgia, which are emotional and not associated with facts, but regardless both are examples of bias. Which is why a simple opinion is worthless without the facts behind why you have that opinion (again, why I explained the factors that made me think FFX combat improves later on, rather than just stating I think it does). Kind of gets into why I don't bother with review scores anymore, but still read the reviews themselves to see what the person liked or didn't like.

Grinding aside, I'm really enjoying Valhalla Knights 3. I can see why it got bad reviews, but it's pretty enjoyable thus far.

"What's that? You want a port of Pain on Vita? Sure can do!"

This made me laugh more than it should have.

--

Edit: I'm also another person without a screen protector or grips. I have the travel case that game with the First Edition Vita though!

You're thinking of bias too much as a binary thing and not enough as a scale. It isn't about one thing being better than another, it is how much you value it.
How much you value it? It's about whether it's reasonable or not. It matters not how much you value something if you're capable of being reasonable. Can you judge it for what it really is? Who is going to punish a game at 30 FPS as long as it has a steady frame rate? TLOU didn't get penalized for that for example. If it runs good, that's fine. It can only improve on it.

You'll always have a preference, but bias isn't everywhere.
