Sony's E3 2014 - What are we all expecting?

Even then, Drive Club is the only exception, but if you've seen the latest footages here the game looks fantastic. I'm pretty sure inFamous was always known to be a launch window game and it was in fact what it was. The Order is one of the games Sony needs to use to restore faith into people and it doesn't need to have a MP mode to be good. Uncharted 4 isn't that far off. 2015 for indies and Uncharted isn't a long time and you want a game like Uncharted to be given some time to be worked on. The Last of Us was delayed a few months and look at how that turned out. So if you compare these games to FF versus, TLG, and Agent, then there's really no reason to be even mentioned. None of these games will share the same fate as those. It's more of looking into the past and learning from those mistakes. Also, Sony never said that the Order was gonna release earlier than fall and Uncharted was never said to be released this year. I'm not too sure about those indie titles though.

I guess your right. Though the point I was trying to make is Sony still revealed games earlier than they should have but if course not on the level of FFVSXIII.

Your post is full of opinions from this website that were presented as facts.

inFamous was never a launch game. The Order was always a 2014 title. Uncharted wasn't announced with a release date. However, they went out of their way to clear up the misconception of the game being a 2015 release date. Also, the last Uncharted came out 3 years ago. None of those conspiracy theories about Uncharted makes no sense because no one has anything idea what the status of the game is right now. We'll find out at E3.

All of this is correct. At best inFamous was seen as a launch game for Japan, and people thought it would have a February launch, but that wasn't confirmed either.

Gies said it. No shock, I know. Although it's funny that he still holds himself out as not being in Microsoft's corner. Sessler was there and in agreement with what he said. Anthony Gallegos kind of called him out but backed down immediately.

Nothing he says surprises me. He will only get more angry and dishonest as the generation goes on and his beloved Microsoft continues to lag well behind Sony in the console race.

Its funny everybody in the american press is starting the hole Playstation dosen't have any games thing again, I just don't understand there undying love and allegiance to the xbox brand

One game that doesn't get brought up much but I'm very much looking forward to is Deep Down. If it maintains its release goal of late 2014 in Japan, I can't see it not also being brought over for the western market simultaneously or shortly thereafter, which would be a timely announcement to make at E3.

Since it's a free to play online title it obviously won't affect holiday charts in any meaningful way apart from a few hardware sales, but it still looks like a meaty game with fun gameplay and content to keep one occupied for quite a while.

I hear you shouldn't get excited for Deep Down. :(

My excitement for it, at least for now, is at zero. Coming from someone who was very hyped at first. :\

It's influence. MS utterly dominated last gen. I'm sure they pampered the press as well. Not outright bought them out but they definitely used the press as their PR machine. With that job comes perks.

I would never lump all the rest of the American press in with him, that's unfair to them.

But moving to the more general point, the PS4 has no games argument is objectively nonsense.

Goalpost shift commencing
Ps4 has no good games/games I want to play

Yup, and wouldn't shock me from the media after Sony surprises them. More goalpost shifting, because I expect Sony's E3 conference to be excellent and they no doubt have probably gotten plenty of big offers by already getting such a large lead especially when worldwide is taken into account plus their US/UK lead.

Plus unlike MS which last year already dipped into obviously 2015+ titles (like Black Tusk's already cancelled game) just last year at last year's E3 to try to change the message off of DRM, I feel Sony held back when they only announced basically one more WWS title after the February event in The Order compared to the amount of studios we know they have making PS4 games that they could have dipped into.

I really hope Sony WWS has a huge presence and they make it a point to show how diverse their studios are by showing games from studios around the world. Project Beast, TLG, and Gravity Rush 2 from Japan, GG's new RPG and London Studio's return to AAA and maybe MM's new game reveal for Europe, Naughty Dog, Bend, and a SSM incubation game, perhaps Giant Sparrow, from NA.

That would blow people away, and I don't think it is that unrealistic. Then use Gamescom and TGS to announce a few partnership games, Quantic Dream and Japanese publishers that have strong PlayStation ties, and to follow up on previously announced games. Boom

"Best street sign ever."

Give me this, Lily Bergamo not sucking, Yakuza Ishin localized
and Beyond Good & Evil 2
and I'll have a PS4 this year already. (So most likely not :-|)

Hmm, Isn't that the second time someone from Sony posted that picture? That sign was in their PS4 video. The message is wayyy too clear for it to not mean anything.

I hope so. Love those games.

Yeah, it seems to be impossible to get something clearer without saying the words, I mean Crash arrow SCE shaped logo, I hope it's indeed happening, could only imagine the insane E3 reaction to a trailer.

Same. My hype went to zero as soon as it was announced to be free to play. I've never gotten hooked on any F2P game I've ever tried and I don't think Capcom will be the ones to changes this.

Yeah, I kinda feel the same, the stuff itself looks great but I don't really play many online games so I don't really know how hyped to be anymore.

They'll both get a quick trailer for sure.
A PS3/PS4 comparison trailer for TLOU is almost guaranteed. They already have the people who loved the game and the people who missed it last gen, now they need to try and get the people who aren't sure if the remaster is worth it.

If a PS3 to PS4 discounted upgrade is a thing too, that would be the optimal time to announce it

I think SSM will have 1 or 2 announcements. Giant Sparrow's project is probably a lock.

I agree with the quick trailers. Just not sure about 2 announcements from SSM. They have The Order, Rapture already, I can imagine them announcing [read: reannouncing] Edith Finch. But I can't imagine there being a ton more going on there in terms of production assistance.

Selective memory? Although I guess its easy to forgot the laughable announcements of Uncharted and Shadow of the Beast.

Dont think Sony will give any screen time to Last of us remaster or driveclub imo

You don't think Sony will showcase games they want to sell during a time when the audience will be at its largest?

Yeah ... .....

DriveClub will be showcased. It will be shown probably live on stage being played to be honest. As it should be. 5 minutes or so if fine for a game that will be a big time product when it releases. An exclusive racing game? Those sell systems if they are good enough.

The Last of Us will likely be shown sort of like ... * here is what PS3 gamers were enjoying last year * then footage of PS3 TLOU. * and here is what they will be able to enjoy in a few weeks! * and the PS3 video is replaced with the newly remastered video.

And after that it will go into Uncharted 4 and possibly Druckmann taking the stage to show a teaser trailer of the unannounced / unknown project.

I did say 1 or 2 :P

"Edith Finch" seems very likely to me. Seth Killian teased that the stuff he had been working on would be announced soon, but he's left SSM since so maybe that doesn't hold true any more.

Driveclub got one small trailer last year...

And it will get another this year.

I am freaking calling it. Sony re-acquired Crash and Naughty Dog is developing it.

LOOK:

This kicks off several anniversary announcements happening over the coming months. Turning thirty is going to be a fun year for us all. Get ready to celebrate with us!

What announcement would be more perfect for ND 30th anniversary other than Crash?
Wayofthewarriorlol?
Nothing I say. And if it truly happens, Sony might just win E3 with that alone.

HYPE!!!!!1

Well my reading comprehension today is at an all time low, as you well know.

But I'm leaning towards the 1 :P

Remember when yamauchi and translator-san nearly killed the conference
Only thing less fun than watching/hearing racing game demo on stage is sports games
I hope we don't see either
A cool video will do

They showed that ages ago, and already talked about how they want to include Way of the Warrior stuff if they can find enough. So, don't jump to conclusions.

great games.... idk what you're on

They were great for their time. I dunno, I don't think they can just be revisited. I think there's an element of fairness to the post you've quoted, it was just worded fairly dramatically.

I wouldn't get TOO excited yet, but things are starting to add up.

1. The Crash picture and video with the sign pointing to Sony and they posted the picture twice within a few months.
2. Naughty God quote about several anniversary announcements.
3. Naughty God working on "2 new experiences".

I'm really hoping we get a Devolver blowout in the indie section (I think I read they were gonna have a presence at Sony's conference somewhere...not sure)

They have (at least) Hotline Miami 1 and 2, Shadow Warrior, and the unannounced Serious Sam game coming to PS4 this year, would love some release dates/more announcements

It's worth noting:

1) This is the first time Sony has directly acknowledged that sign. (I think.)
2) This is a new picture of the sign, as it's taken from a different angle from what the video shows and we can see Crash clearly now.
3) When Cerny came on stage at PlayStation Meeting 2013, Crash Bandicoot music was playing: http://youtu.be/skOhuGu69Ws?t=11m20s (I realize he's known for the game, but still, 'twas there!)

They're barely involved in the Order, it's almost entirely RAD. Rapture looks like a pretty small game compared to AAA games, even moreso with Hohokum and whatever GiantSparrow will be making. I'm expecting a rebooted God of War CGI trailer with Kratos or another character in another mythology.

If we do get a new Crash, I doubt it'll be from ND. Maybe Sanzaru?
Everyone says that Sony Bend should be working on a Siphon Filter game but screw that. They're the best team for a Crash Bandicoot game imo.

No way a new Crash is introduced with it not being made by ND.

Hell I would be shocked if it was announced and Gavin / Rubin did not return to help direct it.
Ehh.... you should probably lower your expectations

It will be shocking enough if a new Crash is announced. Just be excited for that

Also Andrew pretended to be a shocked Crash when Cerny came to great him in that presser

there is also a lot of other PS international facebook/twitter posts with Crash

Does ND even want to make Crash? They moved on a long time ago for a reason.

Besides, I think putting your premier studio on Crash Bandicoot isn't the wisest idea. Sony relies on ND for mature games.

Selective memory? Although I guess its easy to forgot the laughable announcements of Uncharted and Shadow of the Beast.

Not really selective memory at all, admittedly I was talking about so-called AAA-level projects. Shadow of the Beast wasn't announced at E3 nor is it being made by a relatively big studio, so I didn't really think of it (in that case I guess The Witness counts too), but sure if you want I guess you could say it counts, I was thinking of main studio titles like Infamous, Forza, Dead Rising 3.

Yeah, I wouldn't invest alot of resources into the game as it wouldn't be a wise investment, but maybe they have a 3rd smaller studio working on it? Shit noone even knew they had a second team making Last of Us.

I dunno .. I think Sony would want to do it " right ", you know?

With the old crew heading up things, basically the guys who discovered ND in the first place and helped create the Bandicoot series, it would be fitting to have those 2 guys back in the fold, even for just one title.

Cerny, Gavin, Rubin, Yoshida, etc. all back together to put forth a new Bandicoot title. It is what dreams are made of lol.

Do I expect this? Of course not. Would I be just fine with a Bandicoot return without the original team? Of course!
