those nova corps guards look kinda decent actually, the helms look good. Gimme Nova marvel :(

They're not selling it as "Look, it's the GOTG!", they're selling it as "Look at this, it's called GOTG". They know it's a lesser known property so they're just selling the property itself and not the brand name (other than the Marvel Studios brand name which is major).

If this movie doesn't make a lot of money I'll officially lose faith in humanity.

Yeah because a company really struggling to get the attention and success they deserve is Marvel Studios..

Less famous brand or not, most people in the world know Marvel characters from movies and not comic books anyway.

At least this looks a little more inspired than the dull chaos and lowest common denominator one liners of The Avengers. Whatever it takes to derail that train I'm ok with.

If the Internet existed in 1977:

Nobody knows who this Han Solo and Luke Skywalker are. Nobody is going to see this Star Wars movie. Bomba incoming.

So in love with every tiny detail they have shown on this film... latest trailer is great... there is no way this won't please, right? #teamfresh

I think they'll end up being just fine if they're contrasted against Centurions who have sleeker, more imposing suits. (Since they've got to operate in vacuum and stuff.)

I liked the way Quill's face mask materializes and wonder if that effect is setting up similar uniform technology that will be displayed.

I literally know nothing about GotG apart from what has been shown in trailers, and I'm super hyped. This looks super fun!

I did a month of Marvel Unlimited on my ipad and pretty much devoured all the GotG content and became an instant fan!

I'm not worried about the finances or attention of Marvel Studios, I want more people to enjoy the great characters that are the GotG.

Keep your snarky bullshit to yourself, I don't want to hear it, especially when it doesn't even apply to what I was saying.

Marvel better not fuck this up.

That trailer has me very excited.

I think this will do well as long as they advertise it correctly.

Knowhere intrigues me

Who or what can kill a "space god"?

Funny thing is they haven't elaborated on the severed head yet in the books. I think I read that Abnett and Lanning already had it worked out, but since they're not working together anymore I don't think we'll ever find out.

Looks great, not sure I like rocket racoons voice - for some reason I imagined him with a silly British accent. The rest of the casting looks pretty spot on.

Darn!

I was hoping comic-book GAF would chime in :p

Thanks

Nobody really knew about Thor or Iron Man or Cap either, well at least internationally.

Kinda my point in terms of brand recognition. It's not really that much more unknown than Thor was at the point of Thor 1. The second one was post-Avengers and thus safer. Creatively I do think this movie can take more risks though.

To this day no Marvel movie has ever blown me away, but I love absolutely everything I'm seeing from Guardians of the Galaxy. It just looks so ridiculously fun.

Knowhere, Nova Corps, Ronan the Accuser, Nebula, and the GotG in a Hollywood movie and to top it off it looks like it'll be damn good one. I still can't believe it.

The only thing missing is Nathan Fillion as Captain Universe.

I'm getting a very Scorpion King/Prince of Persia/John Carter feel from this. Got the same from the very first trailer. :/ Don't know why everyone is going apeshit over this.

So was Thor, for that matter. There was a fair amount of dissent within Marvel (and later Disney) about whether to introduce Cap and Thor in Avengers, or whether Cap should only partially be set in WWII.

If Iron Man had failed, there would be no Marvel Studios and possibly no Marvel. They had a character that barely anyone knew about, they had never made a movie before, and they needed to borrow a bunch of money to get it off the ground. Thor was risky but they had already put out two huge movies by then and were established.
