That's not a two-dimensional cartoon character your talking about. Sure the series has embraced the fantastical and strange, and hell humor was a big part of it too, but at the same time the conflicts were very real with the safety of anyone on the team never being guaranteed.

As much as I love street level Marvel, cosmic Marvel has so much more potential on the big screen. I hope this does well and kicks off a whole new line of cosmic marvel films.

I don't really like the way the word has been abused, but that is one Epic jiff.
Whenever somebody asks me why he should watch GotG, I'll reply with that picture and just that one picture.
That first part has a different feel to it to me. Perhaps it's the setting and there is no damn music as well. I want to like this but twice now Marvel is giving me reasons not to.

Still don't think it will do well. All these trailers are terrible IMO. If this movie turns out to be good, they need to stuff whoever did the marketing for this movie into a rocket and shoot it into the sun... Because they have done next to EVERYTHING to convince me its awful.

You seem to be in the minority.
The habit of singling out CG (unless it's an issue with design or aesthetics) in trailers needs to stop. Post production is still underway, and it takes time to completely render this stuff and finalize it.

The music fits perfect because of the main character Starlord it be shown in film and explained why
Fucking awesome. What I like most about it is that it doesn't really tell you anything about the plot and villains outside of "wacky, dysfunctional team must save all". I'm sure if they do a final trailer they'll do it that way, but I appreciate this one for just getting the team out there to the masses and building awareness.
But yeah, it's got that typical Marvel flare. Fun, adventurous, and hopefully they include a lot of scifi-epic/space opera stuff in there. If this movie can accomplish just being Star War's little brother, then that itself is a success.

Also, these are the best types of trailers where you get the mood, the action and the direction of the movie WITHOUT resorting to cutting it like its a miny version of the full-feature with its three acts.

Nothing in the trailer seemed particularly out of place for the series. I mean, this is the same series that gave us lines like this:
They definitely got the fun side of GotG down well, hopefully the humor in the movie lives up. My comment was mostly out of concern that the trailer gave an impression that the full film won't embrace the tension and hopelessness that the team had to deal when tackling things that are far greater than themselves.

I think that'll happen just fine. They're positioning Ronan as the main bad guy of this film and all they talk about is how much of a force the guy is. And he's working for Thanos, who we know they want to establish as THE big bad of the Marvel Universe.
The subtle things that make GOTG amazing, like Rocket being an actual character rather than just a silly cartoon raccoon, don't seem to be lost on Gunn at all.
I respect your opinion, but man I just don't understand it in the slightest. To me this trailer is pitch perfect in every regard.
