So, so excited for this.

I'm guessing this will be the least family friendly marvel movie so far?

I think that award might go to Winter Soldier at the moment.

Guardians of the Galaxy seems more lighthearted than Cap 2.

Also, this movie looks great so far, have enjoyed both trailers.

That's how you do a trailer.

Genuinely entertaining and cool in itself - but giving almost nothing away. I basically know nothing about the comics of GotG - and I have no idea what the story is or where it is going. But I know that I really want to see this film.

Not sure exactly how it will work out - but the trailers are very impressive.

Looks terrible. Guess I don't get what is so appealing about these characters.

James Gunn better not fuck this up.
I have faith in him.

I'M LISTENING TO THIS AS WELL AS I WAS HITTING THE POST NEW THREAD BUTTON:

Hype levels intensify.

Looks fun, very Marvelish but new at the same time, I was hoping it would be a tad more serious than it looks but who knows, they can save the serious stuff for the next few films.
There's no such thing as a locked-and-stocked seriousness when you throw everything into the kitchen sink.

I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooo excited. My most anticipated movie of the year

Here's a great article on the shooting of GOTG:

“Joss said, ‘I wish there was more James Gunn in this script,’
That's pretty cool.

Not bad. I liked how they are trying to show a more "serious" side of it after everyone was complaining it was too silly.

Liked how they mixed the Hooked on a feeling with the drums in the end

Movie's looking amazing. Loving the tone they're hitting. Every trailer has sold me more, and every behind the scenes article has assured me that Gunn was the right man. Seems very knowledgeable and passionate about his work here.

The implication of Knowhere just hit me, though. They just made robot space gods canon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That's insane.

God I love that Marvel's taking crazy chances. They totally don't have to, but they are. In Feige we trust.

Liked it a lot.

The take on Knowhere is interesting as this version seems more organic than the one in the comics. Fantastic visual though.

Wasn't there supposed to be a lot of practical effects and props being used for this along with the CG?

I like how Rocket's line about his lifespan pops up out of nowhere. I keep expecting them to treat his every line like a massive hype moment. Seems more like he's just one of the guys, like he should be.

I'm loving the tone of this movie so far. Something about the music choice is just so ridiculously perfect. It's like a wacky cruise through the galaxy. This movies gonna be so fun... I'm glad they didn't go with the generic "super epic" route we've seen with so many sci fi movies before.

Only thing I'm not a fan of is the voice for rocket raccoon, which is just a minor complaint.

Yeah, they have big ol' practical sets in the UK I believe. The inside of Knowhere should be mostly/all practical, while the establishing exterior shots are CG.

Who are you again?

Someone who hasn't read the comics. So if there are references in these trailers, they are being handled badly for everyone who has no previous investment in these characters. I think the trailers have been very uninteresting and that it will hurt the movie. I have been wrong before though. But so far I am extremely unconvinced.

Its been pretty much strictly the people with knowledge of the comics that have convinced me to pay this any attention, had it not been for that I would have long been ignoring this movie by now. It has been presented awfully. I mean, I didn't care about Iron Man or Spiderman either, but the marketing for those films at least made me wonder.

Ah, good. I always like when practical effects are used when they can be rather than having everything in CG.

I liked how the "From Somewhere" line is right after we get that shot of Knowhere.

People with knowledge of the comics are basically the only ones out there who even know about the GOTG. They're pretty damn obscure even for the average Marvel reader and have only recently been brought back into the spotlight since the movie announcement. Their most popular run of books by Abnett and Lanning has been out of print for some time (we're now getting a reprint before the movie launches). Outside the comics they've appeared in a couple videogames and a whopping one episode of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest heroes.

Marvel's selling the concept to moviegoers just as much as they are to comic fans, really. Whether they're succeeding or failing is up to debate and you're certainly entitled to your opinion, but I'm not seeing where they're missing the mark here. The trailers have painted the movie as a lighthearted and fun sci-fi romp with the drama and action you'd expect from a Marvel film adapted from their comics, just with a wacky outer-space theme and some lead characters with questionable morals in place of the typical superpowers. If that's not your thing, cool, but they've been spot on with the marketing I think.

If you're looking for more story details, then you probably won't see that until the final trailer. Marvel certainly doesn't want to spill all the beans on what is likely to become their next major franchise following the Avengers films.

Iron Man wasn't on too many radars before his movie came out either. This trailer was amazing, and I think a lot of people are going to get a very positive introduction to these characters.

If Iron Man had failed, there would be no Marvel Studios and possibly no Marvel. They had a character that barely anyone knew about, they had never made a movie before, and they needed to borrow a bunch of money to get it off the ground. Thor was risky but they had already put out two huge movies by then and were established.

In terms of actual consequences of flopping at the box office, sure. (Though the "possibly no Marvel" part is exaggeration - the 2005 Merrill Lynch deal that made present-day Marvel Studios possible was in fact carefully structured to minimize any actual risk to Marvel should the films flop.) In terms of odds of flopping at the box office, it's possibly their riskiest film to date; there's no question it would be had it somehow been made pre-Avengers, but the strengthened Marvel Studios brand post-Avengers may mitigate that somewhat.

I know next to nothing about this version of the Guardians of the Galaxy but I am excited for the movie. Pratt just brings charisma and humor, love the guy. And the rest of the cast is looking pretty solid too. Day one for me!

You're doing a lot to make it seem like your point of view is representative of everyone. I've never read a single Guardians of the Galaxy comic but the trailers have made me excited about the movie.

I liked that too.

Having googled 'Knowhere', my mind is now blown.

Yeah, this was a fantastic trailer. It was entertaining, and it did a better job than the first one (IMO) setting up the story/characters.
