I just got this and must say its one of the most badass things ive played in a long time. Very happy with it!

I really want this game but waiting for the final release. Is there an estimates time frame when the game goes out of beta?

Fuuuu I didn't know this was BG-esque. Will buy when the full version finally hits.

Will it be the same price btw or is it cheaper to buy now?

So I've never played any of the other divinity games, but I'm highly interested in this, how connected is the story to the previous games?

I haven't played Divine Divinity, only Divinity 2, but for what I've seen in the beta it's not very connected, you should be fine. It happens hundreds of years before the main games and thousands of years after Dragon Commander.

this game is good fun. i love throwing boxes and vases around.

Stacking boxes is more fun than it should be.

Same price.

EDIT: Swen talked about a Digital CE:

Question, is the beta of the game the complete game or are they holding back content like Wasteland 2? I have it since im a backer but am waiting to play the full release.

So I just grabbed the duo pack for a friend and I. I've screwed around for a couple hours with it so far...anything I should know/any brutal bugs you've dealt with? Seems pretty cool so far.

Every update until release, which there might be one more, will most likely break your save games. That's the main thing to know if you didn't already.

Yeah, I was optimistically hoping for otherwise, but knew as much :p

Is the current beginning of the game supposed to be more or less the identical beginning to the "real" game? Played about 5 hours so far, wondering if I should hold off till June 20th.

Just FYI, If you ordered the CE it appears the dice are not going to be a part of it. For that inconvenience they are giving you a free steam key to the early access. Meaning a lot of us are going to have a bunch of extra keys. I have one extra key right now and will have 3 upon release.

I just bought the early access version on Steam, downloading now.

I don't usually go for early access stuff, but seeing as how this game is coming out so soon I'm looking at it like a preorder that comes with a playable demo.

After playing the beta for 30 minutes I'm already in love! I dig the look of it, I like the animations, and I love the battle system.

So glad I took a chance on this!

How many hours of gameplay are in the beta? I'm thinking I just wanna play around with different character classes and not consume too much of the content...

They say it's twenty hours and if you are insane with min/maxing like I am you easily get that. If you just roll through it then about 10. It's just Cyseal, which is the first town, and all it's related quests. Should be one more update coming, or at least that's the general gossip in general chat. Hard to believe the game is 22 days away though considering how much content is missing from the Early Access.

As for the OT, I have no idea, though I've heard you put up a blog post about the game somewhere Durante, so perhaps the OT honors should be yours? 10/10 Durante Hype points?

After playing through Divine Divinity this week and loving it, I'm now insanely hyped for this. I'm waiting to buy it the day it goes full release.

New update soon, either today or tomorrow by the looks of it.

Changelog of the new version! I'm sorry, Whoompthereitis, but it looks like you will have to start over :D

Hello everybody,

It's only been 12 days since our last big update, but we're in overdrive at Larian so there's lots to share already.

The big ones

-AI Personalities part 1 is there. If you feel up to the challenge, you can give your main protagonists a will of their own, and they'll make their own choices, just like another player would in multiplayer. Currently only random personalities are activated, but it makes for a very different game. Do try it out, it's a lot of fun.
-Primary stats now affect your skill values. This is the next step in the changes we decided to do to improve the amount of class free builds you can make. The tooltips contain all you need to know.
-The system powering the treasure generation has been refined. Loot balancing has been further improved. Disarm trap kits for instance now actually drop.

The other features you'll notice right away

-We did several modifications to the tutorial dungeon, including a new encounter.
-Surfaces & clouds now have their own level
-The hint system is now operational
-The credits screen now works
-You can now differentiate between stacking items or wanting to craft quantities of items
-Weapons that do elemental damage now have fancy fx
-We Added rotate buttons to character creation screen
-Surfaces have sound now
-You can now select your starting skills during character creation (still a few issues)
-Projectiles have an offset above the ground causing less terrain/projectile interference
-We added the Stabbey waypoint in Cyseal
-A lot of effort was done on improving the tooltips (ongoing)

I'll certainly do the OT if no one else steps up, but I won't insist on it -- time spent on the OT (and the game certainly deserves a solid - and thus time-consuming - one) is less time spent on GeDoSaTo ;)

Any old-school CRPG fans out there recommending Divinity, or should I pass? Is it humorous or well-written? Does it play well with modern hardware?

*I'm talking about the old Divinity games from the Humble Bundle, not the new one.

Since you're the OP for the original D:OS Kickstarter thread, I really can't think of a better person to usher in the OT :)

I spent this last week playing Divine Divinity, it really recommend it. It plays great and holds up really well.

I got this game 2 weeks ago and dumped 24 hours into it just exploring the first act and creating different character. I cannot wait for the full version & eventual community mods.

And now I can set the skills for new characters? Now I'm never gonna get out of the start screen!

Aye, a noble endeavor, to be certain, but one made necessary by ports and, most notably, some shoddy ones. This game is made for the PC and it's glorious denizens alone, surely that is worth the detour?

Oh, it appears the EA code we got for the dice removal expires upon release, so much for having a horde of codes.

Spent 8 hours on it and just left the
Time Weaver's area
. Had to start again because of the new update and I already found two blue items.

Some audio bugs have been fixed and some are still there (Divine Light) but overall this game is already amazing, best game 2014.

I'm not sure about the last point (been a while since I played it), but other than that I highly recommend Divine Divinity.

They are all steam unlocks, if you choose, but they do work with modern hardware. Haven't seen a steam game yet that doesn't. I recommend Divine Divinity as well, and Dragon Commander, which as an avid Risk player back in the day I thoroughly enjoyed. Plus it's Risk with Politics and Waifu's, if that's your thing. Beyond Divinity I haven't tried yet, but Divinity II went in a direction I really didn't care for.

For those on the fence, I had no intention of trying out the beta more than an hour or so. Needless to say, what followed was the longest gaming binge session that I can remember; I played the beta for 16 hours or so over a couple days. I believe there's still some additional sidequest stuff, but I didn't want to play much more before official release.

Regardless, it has a great battle system, graphics, gameplay, decent dialogue (my only minor quibble would be coming off of playing Baldur's Gate 2 recently that the dialogue isn't *quite* up to snuff). Still, absolutely fantastic old-school RPG that I couldn't recommend highly enough. If you're a fan of old Infinity Engine RPG's, Fall Out, or other similar RPG's, *well* worth checking out.

This post made me buy the game on Steam :)

I discovered Divinity with Dragon Commander, which I loved. Now I decided to play divinity II developer cut, I read about the classes on some forum and decided to go wizardy.

I like the story and quests, but I'm finding the combat extremely boring. I'm just spamming 1 spell (magic missile) and doing side taps. I'm 9 hours in and I'm not sure if I should continue...

I wanted to finish it and probably get Original Sin as a birthday present for me and a friend, but now I really don't know...

Have anyone here also had problems with Divinity II combat, but are having a blast with Original Saga?

Also any tips to make Divinity II more enjoyable (I'm thinking on going battlemage) are welcome!

Divinity 2 is a single character third person action RPG. Divinity OS is a party-based isometric turn-based RPG with tactical combat. I really wouldn't draw any conclusions about the latter's combat based on the former.

Have you used fire spells on oil barrels?

EDIT: I was referring to Original Sin. Apologies! Still worth checking out ;)
