Probably saw Quicksilver in DoFP and just gave up.
Shit was that good.
Shit was that good.
Yeah, I'm sure whatever hack yes man TV director they hire will pump out a totally competent generic product. What's the big deal?I can't breathe, I'm laughing so hard. Who the hell knew Edgar Wright was so irreplaceable? There is literally no other director on the planet who could make a good Ant-Man movie. You guys are hilarious.
The problem is that the movie was supposed to be shooting right now. Unless they scrap the project and rebuild it completely, I don't see how things could possibly work out.I can't breathe, I'm laughing so hard. Who the hell knew Edgar Wright was so irreplaceable? Scott Lang actually. Pym only has a minor role.
Who gives a shit about people who think the movies have too many jokes in them? As if there aren't jokes in comic books every week. It's a goofy medium with a lot of smart ass colorful characters. Not to mention that out of everyone who has written and directed Marvel movies so far, Wright is the best comedy writer, so they jokes would at least probably be good.I could rattle off 10 directors who could pull off awesome action scenes. Most of whom I'd list would do it better. This guy does drinking movies. Am I wrong but isn't there a major annoyance with Marvel fans that the movies have too many jokes in them? And you want that guy to do Ant-Man? What, is Ant-Man going to do the worlds longest pub crawl because he is 1 inch tall? Give me a break.

Give it to Bryan Singer.
Just get the Russo brothers on it.
Better movie achieved. Problem solved.

underrated postI guess he wasn't the Wright man for the job after all...

Probably wanted to infuse some of his own vision and originally into the film, and since it didn't fit with Marvel's cookie-cutter film-making approach, they couldn't come to an agreement.
Read Duckroll's post please.

Please mean that Pym is back as the lead.
Easy trade here.
This would be a huge consolation prize for me. I love Wright and had faith in him making a great movie despite all the crazy changes, but if that was his decision I hope it goes with him.
Give it to Bryan Singer.
Yeah people throwing anti MCU shit sound stupid right now.
They let Gunn and Russos do there thing.
They delayed Ant Man for Wright.
They let him write the script for 8 years.
Something else happened.

Totally did not realize this many people have a shit about Hank Pym.
Jon Favreau incoming

Well, fuck. What a blow to Marvel's geek cred.
If I had to guess, Marvel Studios wanted changes to the script to more closely tie it to other MCU properties, Wright wanted a stand-alone film, and they just couldn't meet each other halfway.
This film never sounded like it quite fit with the bulk of the Marvel Studios film strategy, seemingly being both smaller-scale (lol) and more auteur-driven, so perhaps in hindsight this outcome should come as less of a shocker. But man, this sucks.
I actually doubt it was Marvel who ended the deal. This close to filming and only now they bail? Seems like Wright backed out.
Pope told Collider, "'Ant-Man' will be shot on film with the Panavision cameras. We've shot all of [Edgar Wright's] movies on film. He likes it. I like it. I feel more transported.
"Interestingly, because it's not as crisp and all-seeing as digital, I'm actually transported by the graphicness of it into the imagery, emotionally. It's hard for me to explain why I like film, but that's the best I can come up with."
I said goddamnSoooo, if this turns out to be more of his fault than the studios, everyone's going to eat crow, right? Seems weird they would delay and bend over backwards for him only to drop him a month before shooting.
Also, lol at the people refusing to see it now, the power of the Internet Edgar Wright fans sure powered Scott Pilgrim to blockbuster success....
Wouldn't be surprised if this is a "Bioshock Infinite" issue where they just got sick of time management issues.I actually doubt it was Marvel who ended the deal. This close to filming and only now they bail? Seems like Wright backed out.

Well, earlier this week: https://uk.movies.yahoo.com/bill-pope-shoot-ant-man-film-154300819.html
Obviously he's been talking to his DOP, and they've been talking about how they want to shoot it, and they know what they want visually. This is just... so sudden.
Literally all my hype is gone.
Can someone say James Cameron?
