Hollywood Reporter: Edgar Wright just left Ant-Man

The Marvel hate is at its most over the top in full force in here. Holy shit. I'm surprised someone hasn't said "superheroes shouldn't have existed in the first place". I probably just missed the post. Wright never thought he was too good for them. People would literally say he said that word for word if they could get away with it.

Well I was only interested in this film because of him, so I guess I'll just wait and see what he does next. Sucks though, Edgar has a flare like no other that suits comics perfectly
Welp, if this is true then I'm out. I was hoping his action choreography/editing/transitions/comedy would be finally appreciated in the mainstream. Chance of making the best superhero movie ever.

Haha, THR quoted your tweet, Bobby

This movie was already being rushed to begin with and now they go and change directors at the last minute ensuring an even tighter schedule. This has disaster written all over it and I really wanted a good Antman movie :(

Please tell me how eight years counts as "rushed"? This fucking thing predates the universe it was supposed to be a part of.

That's one very big chunk of my hype off on Ant-man. The film could still be good, but...it's sad seeing Wright gone after all these years he seemed to be really into it.

Maybe Wright wanted to make it so Ant-Man fought a giant mechanical spider. You can't have a real popcorn masterpiece without a giant mechanical spider.

Shooting starts in July which is already cutting it close for it's planned release date. An all new director at the last minute won't help matters.

Ah, that's what you meant. I thought you were talking about the development time. My mistake.

I think they'll end up pushing it back a little bit.

Explain how you rush a project that has already 8 years developing?

What developing? He wrote a script that spent most of that time on Marvel's shelf. No active production work happened until this year, save for the test footage reel he shot last year.

Makes sense. James Gunn has had nothing but nice things to say about Marvel. He explicitly has mentioned that there have been a few times when he and Feige had big differences on what should happen but they were always civil and willing to work it out. And Shane Black was allowed to make a movie where he completely changed what the Mandarin was and it barely featured Stark in the suit.

Until more info comes out I am inclined to believe it was Wright who dropped the ball, which is a shame because his movies are pretty good. :'(

It's strange, because some directors say they had great working experiences with Marvel and others seemed to hate it like poison. Whedon, the Russos, Black, Johnston, and Gunn all liked Marvel; Leterrier and Taylor did not; and Favreau went both ways. :lol

It really is the end, huh? I wonder if they even bother releasing Avengers 2 at this point.

Probably not. I heard from someone close to the production that James Gunn is livid, and he's considering taking his name off Guardians of the Galaxy unless they replace Thanos with a talking purple dildo. Seems like it's over for Marvel Studios.

It's almost like people have different experiences and opinions. NAH. It's got to be black and white. Marvel are scum.

I don't even care if they amiably split, the terms were incredibly polite and mutual, and they parted as friends. It still sucks we won't get the film as it was originally intended.

i dunno. does marvel have a major speed character that could have a solo movie?

i don't care about what company hires him. i'm not a shareholder.

Oh god damn it.

Edit: at least we'll get an original Wright idea sooner?

Makes complete sense why they haven't announced that casting yet.
