The point of the article is that these type of kids exist. And they're all out there and families are ill equipped to know what to do with them.

This freaks me out and makes me much more sympathetic for the families.

Why would you send your son who has the mental capacity of a 15 year old to live alone.

Keep a leash around your children until you are sure they matured.

I can't help think environment had a lot to do with this. We see it in this thread with people who relate or know somebody with these tendencies. Certainly not to the extend of this guy, but still relatable. It's too easy to just sluff it off as another psychopath. There are social aspects to this that are really disturbing.

Those people don't have the resources to be able to pull it off.

Terrorism gets sponsored by the rich/upper-middle classes, for example. The poor ones don't have time to be bothered with it- they have to keep their mouths fed and a roof over their head.

Kinda strange how people are saying him getting laid would have stopped this. Whatever shit he was blabbing about in his videos, if he had it in him to this he would have twisted any slight against him into justification. Him getting a girlfriend wouldn't have fixed this.

He's not a minor. He has rights that can't just be flushed down the toilet because his parent's made a phone call.

A judge HAS to rule him mentally incompetent. That's VERY time consuming. Can't just complain to the police and get him locked up forever.

Yeah - I think one thing that's interesting about the case is how reflective it is of the misogynistic/sexist culture that is prevalent on the internet. Definitely something that should be addressed and critiqued, but I totally disagree with a number of those I've seen on twitter who are arguing that this whole case is a result of those cultural factors and anyone who tries to bring up "mental illness" as part of the story is being inherently discriminative. Even if there's no evidence that suggests "people with mental illness" are more likely to commit crimes, but of course if you are going be more specific then the kid no doubt possesses traits that are reflective of a personality disorder like psychopathy or something.

Yeah, my wife and I were just talking about how society dealt with people like that yesterday. People would OCD would have been tossed in the same facility as fuckers like this shooter so I'm thankful we've moved well past that phase.
 
Ugh, this really creeps me out.

Hate to admit it, but I'm pretty much in the same boat as this kid (minus the psychopathy and violent tendencies, I mean in terms of his position in life), no friends really, no relationships, and nothing really good going on for me. Thankfully, I don't have any violent urges and I consider myself capable of self-introspection and have realized most of this is my fault, but it's still a bit creepy to see this guy who very well could've been me had things gone different.

This story really depresses me. Hate when freaks like this go nuts and make the rest of us lonely folks feel like even bigger losers.

The media loves to build up the loner and bullied angle. The columbine killers weren't really like that and were in fact bullies themselves. Its thinking your better than the rest of the world and thinking the world doesn't notice it that leads to acts like this.
