Seven Dead, Several Hospitalized in Isla Vista Mass Shooting

Glad cnn didn't post anything about him. He doesn't deserve it. Saw 30 seconds and now want him to get zero attention. The retribution is his death

I'm conflicted about this, anyone else they would have their face plastered across the Tv. Something tells me it's because of his family's wealth.

What's with the forced laugh in the video? He seemed to be trying to channel some sort of villain like persona. Really trying hard.

Sad that this guy took out his angst by killing innocent people.

This video is so repulsive and hard to watch. I almost wish this idiot were still alive so we could kill him. Or so I could at least punch him in his god damn face.

If you didn't watch it, this little kid with expensive clothes in a nice car complains about how the cool kids don't like him and he can't get laid. So the logical solution, to him, is murder.

Just let me get my hands on this guy.

Holy shit I thought this happened in SoCal but it happened in Isla Vista, right near me. Fuck.

And WTF that "Retribution" video...this kid was evil. It's like Satan consumed his soul and he's doing the talking. This is some real fucked up crazy shit.

This isn't a case of another lonely, bullied kid out for revenge...just a soul consumed by pure fucking evil.

By the looks of his videos he's emotionless like a psychopath. HE tries smiling in one video and it looks awkward and forced too. I don't think he understands emotions and just imitates them.

Am I the only one who finds it moderately fucked up people are using a massacre as political leverage? Yes, I get it - you hate Men's Rights Activism. Most people do. But jumping to the conclusion that a cause is responsible for the tragedy diminishes the realities of mental illness at play here. It's remarkably scummy, and right now it's not the time.

Man I'm glad I'm not going to UCSB. First the deltopia riots, then the girls body being found on the beach, and now this shooting. Shit is crazy over there.

That always happens. Without going too armchair psychiatrist, it seems like this kid grew up around people getting everything they ever wanted, and latched onto this "redpill/PUA" ideology to explain why he couldn't get women. The guy clearly had some mental issues, and this is how they manifested, it's only natural that movement catches flak.

Come the fuck on.

Christ, UCSB is my alma mater : (

David Attias's rampage ended almost directly outside my apartment in 2001, never imagined it would ever get worse than that : (

You are definitely not alone.

Come the fuck on.

Well my better side wouldn't say that, but that's my reaction. The way that he documented his impotent hate before the fact is just that much more insulting. His stupid face pisses me off.

It's obviously the only way he knew to lash out.

He was shunned by women and rejected socially. I am not in any way saying what he did wasn't wrong, but can we please try to consider the factors that lead him to taking the lives of other people?

Making comments like 'rot in hell' completely miss the point. The guy was obviously deeply disturbed, and very, very lonely/isolated. I wouldn't wish what he was going through on my worst enemy. What a sad, sorry way to end up.

I'm sure he was hoping to sound genuine in his evil rant, but it came across as bad acting. Obviously, this kid was a sick and twisted individual, but I think the video was made with intentions of building his "legacy" and he tried to play up his mental state into some evil villain character. Not sure if growing up around the tv/film industry had some influence there.

Would a psychopath(who shouldn't care about personal attachments) care so much about making personal attachments? Serious question, I don't know.

My Twitter feed is unbearable right now.

I just wish people would wait for the full story before going on the warpath. It's pretty clear this guy was fucked up and it wasn't just one or two things. You don't go on a killing spree just because you've got aspergers and have shitty ideas about women. The scars on this kid are most likely super deep.

This is horrible

Sometimes you can have all the money in the world and good looks, but still lack something and end up like this, or with other mental problems, unfortunately i think some of the comments represent the attitude that could have contributed to his personality and actions.
The world its a fucked up place, i hope they rest in peace.

It isn't.

I'm not sure what political leverage you're talking about here because the main concern should be about the safety of women who are ignored in this respect. Ignored in favour of the murderer with the mental illness. Some people seem to be holding some degree of sympathy for the dude. For whatever reason I don't know.

His motives are from a culture that doesn't have anything to do with mental illness.

Yes, he had a mental illness, and that should be taken seriously, but it shouldn't be used as some way to excuse what he did.

Nah I know what you mean the "retribution" video was cringe worthy. But I saw all his other videos too and it's really clear that the dude suffered from some type of mental disorder.

It's a fucked up situation all around.

And hopefully the families that were affected by this get rightful compensation.

I definitely try to consider the factors, and I agree with you that "rot in hell" replies aren't really helping anybody, but this guy sure seems to merit them.

From what I gather he's a rich, privileged white males trending college in Santa Barbara. It's hard to play the "circumstance" card when those are your circumstances.

The cool kids didn't like me. I didn't get laid as often as I would have liked. I didn't kill anybody.

Edit:

I did not see those (couldn't stand to watch any more of him). If that's true, then my bad

I sympathise because I understand his loneliness and frustration at being a virgin at a late age.

It doesn't excuse his actions.

Psychopath's can be attached I think but honestly, is that what he wanted? He hated women. I can't imagine him becoming loving and kind. He probably felt detached and never fitted in and saw being in a relationship as something normal but he'll never achieve. He hated that idea of something so simple being so unreachable.

No, he's not emotionless. If you'd have to say that he has a psycopathic trait though, it would be a lack of empathy. Suprise surprise, one of the main characteristics of a narcissist.

Malignant narcissism would probably be a more apt description of what this guy has... He seems as if the whole world is after him. Not surprising seeing as he grew up with a relatively famous family.

Most people with mental illness don't kill people. There is no excuse to kill people that reject you. I just wish attention seeking behavior that is evil doesn't get attention. Watching cnn report on this bothers me since another person is going to do this because they report it

All this talk about what psychiatrists or forum members could have done to stop him is pointless. The guy is clearly broken - I doubt even his parents are 100% to blame for it. Some people genuinely have tripped wires in their brains.

The most important thing is to not have easily available firearms so that psychopaths like him don't have an easy way to do these things.

I don't disagree with you but where does he show emotion? Even when he's looking at something he hates he's 100% level voiced, calm, emotionless. If a normal person sees something upsetting they get angry or frustrated or more passionate.

I've always thought of this as good advice.

The problem is a lot of guys desire a certain type of woman (the media and caring too much about what others think plays a huge role in this shit) and the cute nerdy girl doesn't fit the mold.

I have two friends who don't get laid and they both desire women I know are faaaaar out of their league. They want pro league girls and are barely even good enough to fuck with the ones in the minor leagues. It's so bizarre to me. They've set up this "idea" of what kind of girl they SHOULD have and they don't give any of the other girls they CAN get a chance, and their dicks stay dry because of it.

I agree with you but the baseball analogy bothers me a little -- sounds too much like the alpha-beta shit that seems to have helped drive this kid up a wall. Why not just tell your friends to pursue girls they can relate with and have interests in common with instead of basically telling them to settle for the minors?

A shocking number of the nerdy male types I've known over the years don't seem to understand this. They obsess over either an ideal or (worse) a specific person who is simply out of their league. Not even just in terms of looks, but completely different, in a different social sphere. Yet the girls on their level -- often friends of theirs -- are totally invisible to them. They keep on dreaming they're going to land some fucking YouTube cosplayer or some hot girl they work with and obsess over.

Dude the nutjob in these videos thinks he deserved a girl that's like a flawless beauty beyond measure he's not gonna settle.

The majority of people that I've seen (mostly on Twitter, not on GAF) have preexisting notions & opinions about MRA, that they're now doubling-down on in face of the tragedy. Intentional or not, they're using a massacre to paint unrelated people in a bad light. Regardless of if they deserve negative attention or not - they are dealing them blame for this tragedy, when they are not connected. It feels exploitive, especially with the event being so recent.

It doesn't matter what type of girl he went for; if he was as creepy as he was in the videos in real life, no girl would have touched him with a ten foot pole. He wasn't having trouble getting women because he was 'out of their league' or 'ugly' or whatever. He was having trouble getting women because he was a creepy psychopath.

Say what you will about Patrick Bateman but at least the guy could mask his insanity. This kid looked like you could feel the aura of his madness within a 100 foot radius.

If that's who he was trying to emulate he failed hard.

He was against pua actually. He posted to a site/forum called puahate which is filled with people who just make fun of pick up artist and anyone who buys those products.

A mentally broken and very sick kid obviously. Stuff like this scares me from having kids...How much of this kids beliefs were nature born vs nuture born? How much impact do we truly have on the growth of our youth?

Maybe, but I get the impression he was expecting the girls to ask him out or something.

It feels exploitative because it is.

This was a horribly screwed up guy with horribly screwed up views.

He probably had no idea who he was or who he even wanted to be. He was totally lost.

The laugh was probably something he thought he should do because it's what people in movies do before they murder people.

SLA VISTA, Calif. -

The Santa Barbara County Coroner's team has established a crime scene at the apartment complex where suspected shooter Elliot Rodger claimed he lived, prior to Friday's mass murders in Isla Vista.

NewsChannel 3 witnessed forensics experts removing three bodies from the Capri apartment complex on the 6500 block of Seville Road Saturday afternoon.

There is no confirmation from authorities whether this latest discovery increases the number of people killed, which stands at seven, including the gunman.

Well shit.

That was a huge part of it as well I believe. He was a spoiled privileged and entitled person. Just nasty but he was also 135lbs and looked like he was 16. Sorority chicks ain't going for that.

Patrick Bateman was fictional, so not an apt comparison.

The emotion is in his despair. Blaming others, and then proceeding to kill them before killing himself. All this caused by feeling lonely and unloved (he even admits it). His retribution video is very clearly "fake" in terms of it being acted. He's trying to go out with two bangs, the video and the killings.

I don't think he's all that mentally ill. His mom is self absorbed and didn't give him enough love (French housewives video). He likely went to rich schools where everyone else is rich and they didn't want him for his money, so he had to succeed on other merits and failed. All of that fucked up his development, compounded with his idolization of anime and media. Now we see that he was obsessed with approval and love...which he didn't get and thus turned into jealousy, hatred, etc.
