A lot of my games are definitely going to collect dust. And I'm guessing a lot of people are going to forget about GTA: Online and when it's going to finally get heists.
Well. I think a new PC Performance thread might not be a bad idea seeing as how many of the complaints of poor performance may have been from cracked versions of the game, I don't know that I'll be able to trust any of the info on settings and whatnot until the game's officially out and possibly even day-1 patched.
As I said, Guru3D has the beta drivers available right now, though not sure if notebook means mobile.

Just sayin' having to go to page 15 or whatever of a PC performance thread to start finding info I feel I can trust for sure kind of defeats the purpose of having a dedicated thread.

No. I just wish the campaign was a bit better written and Aiden didn't feel so bland but otherwise it's very fun. I can see this becoming a very successful franchise that won't be limited to Chicago going forward.

Personally I'd draw the line a little ahead of cracked images of retail discs printed three months ago, and probably in the ballpark of whenever day one patch and driver updates are released

I agree, all impressions before the game is out might as well be considered invalid. Along with an un-updated OP that won't help anyone.

I'd be ok with a limited area. GTAV's map size was a little too big for 16 players. It was possible to never run into anyone.
I kinda think it'd be awesome that you really don't know right off who is real, and who is an NPC. Walk around the map, it's huge, and you don't really know how many real people you've passed by, etc.
That would be pretty nifty.

Personally, this is the only thing about the game that could bring me WAY down on it.
After I complete the campaign, basically my brother and I just wreak havoc on the city. I really hope it isn't limited, at least for Free Roam specifically.

The lack of mechanics for the invader to act like an NPC though kinds sucks. It's even more disappointing considering in asscreed games you can blend in the crowd or sit on a bench. Missed opportunity here but maybe due to balancing since it would be pretty hard to spot the hacker then.

Oh wow, this thread took a huge turn from the other day. Anyways, the game is in my Uplay games list as shown here with a pic I taken recently:
I don't use Uplay much, but these are the only games I got for it, making Watch Dogs the 3rd game I own for that service. I was going to buy it on Steam this week but after hearing the news I just couldn't wait since this is one of most anticipated games of the year after all so I went for Uplay. After all that I went straight to offline mode playing it for hours, enjoying what I played and only listed how much VRAM it took at 1440p between settings in this thread. I did a 1080p test that I forgot to put on here but lets just say it takes around 3GB VRAM still at that res depending on the settings. I hope to share more about Watch Dogs because I have a lot to say about the game, from hacking to combat and more.

I've been wondering this myself. It's limited to just current gen hardware, so a limited area would be almost expected, as if they could get the whole city working on current gen then they could maybe get a smaller section working for previous gen.

Oh the i5 can run this as I have an i5, you just need to overclock it since it's cpu intensive.=p

Had to order some fan pin adapters, because this game would undoubtedly melt my 4770k otherwise. Thought everything was fine with my setup until Battleblock Theater was pushing my CPU temperature into the upper 70's.

Yeah some people were showing an improvement with i7's over i5's at another site. Even some other games out show improvement with i7's and those extra "threads". Im referring to recent cross gen games that are on both PC and PS4/X1.
I remember last year asking around which cpu i should go with for a 3 year run..."allmost" everyone kept sreaming" 3570k is more than enough and the 3770k i was leaning towards...everyone was saying "it's waste of extra money and the extra threads wont mean nothing for next gen games".
Well i feel much better going with the i7 3770k, it overclcoked to 4.6ghz stable ...but i delidded it and it runs stalbe at 5ghz. Although i keep it at 4.6ghz for the time being...i'll use the 5ghz later on when needed a extra boost.
I also got lucky with a Sapphire 7970...i originally bought a Gigabyte 7870 but i got rid of it quickly because it OC'd bad...Once i got the sapphire 7970 Ghz Edition....i got super lucky because it OC's to 1200mhz Core/1650mhz memory. That is about 4.4TF of GPU power. I got a pretty decent setup for around a grand. 1080p/60fps is the highest i go with it because i have the rig connected to a 55" Plasma in the living room...
My I7 overclock matches "perfectly" with my GPU overclcok...i got a really big bang for the buck on my current main setup.
Hopefully watchdogs runs good on my machine...."IF" i decide to get the game. Im still not sure yet. From the comments i've read thus far i am a bit undecided if i should get the game but i do see the i7's making great use of the extra threads!!

wait, was no preload for anything confirmed? I saw a couple people posting that there wasnt going to be. That is extremely disappointing. Tomorrow when it unlocks will be fun...Dont fail on me uplay
This is just.. wrong. Who told you that is insane, and wrong.
I think it all depends on how the engine was developed. Things are a bit different now...last gen engines were more single core orientated even though the 360 and PS3 were actually multi core CPU machines...now there is more of direct dedication to truly utilizing these extra cores and threads than last gen...benchmarks from recent games have clearly proven this already at various PC enthusiast sites. Extra cores and threads will make a bigger difference this gen compared to last gen.
Im not saying brute force cannot help make up some performance but like i said..new engines being made from this point on will heavily be influenced by 8 cores/threads compared to last gen.
Intel i7's and AMD's 8 core cpu's will help a great deal with these new xbox one and PS4 ports on PC's imho.
Like i said in my earlier post - I am so glad i never listened to the huge amount of people that said i7's were going to be a waste for next gen and which was so baffling to me at the time was this was late last summer when we knew the spec's already for PS4 and X1. People still thought that extra threads were not going to benefit anything at all for future next gen PC games and ported next gen console games to PC's. I hate to say it but a lot of people are eating crow right now. I say this because i bitterly got chewed up and spit out at a few PC sites when i opted to go with a 3770k over their recommended 3570k. They said i was a fool and just threw a 100 dollars out of the window....lol some were actually angry with me for not siding with them on their logic. My gut feeling always told me i7's were better fit for next gen games and now we are seeing this to be true.. and it gets truer by the day.
By the way...those that have a 3570k/45 or older i5, in no way am i am saying your CPU isnt capable. These i5's are still so much more powerful than the laptop cpu's in these new consoles and will still do their job...alll i am saying is that there is better performance to be had with i7's or AMD 8 core PC proc's.

I'm not suprised people are complaining about stuttering when your computer is probably riddled with bitcoin mining viruses and god knows what else.

I find it hard to believe that someone would have told you that. Its not that I don't trust your word, after all you don't have to look very far to find idiocy on the internet, just having a tough time wrapping my head around the shear incompetence and ignorance.
In fact, I am running out of adjectives to accurately describe just how foolish such a statement would be.
Sure, 5 years ago it was difficult to recommend a processor such as an i7 with hyper-threading as they were expensive and there weren't many multi-threaded applications. We knew that would change going forward even without the exact specs of the next-gen consoles to go off of.

It'll run fine on that CPU.
Nothing has changed much, i5 4670K is still a very competent CPU. The only difference is before it was consensus that an i5 was more than enough for a gaming PC, now we may be getting to the point where owning an i7 is a more than just a luxury. So for people buying a new CPU from now it may be worth the higher price.

Not at all. But it has been greatly overstated by a lot of members on here.
As will all games with dynamic TOD and weather, the game will have its moments where it doesnt look its best, but it can also look amazing at other moments. There are times when it looks pretty damn close to the reveal trailer... Well close enough to keep most happy.
I picked up a used 560 ti for SLI years ago and it was one of the best $100 I have ever spent.
Set up handles anything I throw at it so far with some minor considerations for the 1GB of VRAM.
Will probably spring for a 980 or AMD equivalent next year.
Probably worth considering looking into a used 560 Ti instead, though I suspect by the time I'd seriously want to grab it there'd be better options for cheap anyway. Certainly I could probably SLI two 650s at lower power consumption and not much more expensive, and with fresher cards to boot.
... And I honestly kind of expect that if i5s can't keep up it's more due to poor optimization than the CPUs being too weak. Probably depends on how much the games NEED multi threading, but we've had plenty of weak ports in the past and in all likelihood will continue to have weak ports. Though an i7 might be worth getting just for in home Steam streaming if I'm right in assuming the extra threads help a lot for that.

I believe you also get Nvidia features such as shadowplay and streaming with the 600 series as well.
Yeah, that's one of the big reasons I'm not fond of going SLI/Crossfire for cheap upgrade paths, usually the newer cards have more capabilities and features such as support for new DirectX versions or things like that and Gsync. Nevermind that some games just don't play right with SLI and so you get one card effectively just generating unnecessary heat.
