Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

Good job DaBoss. You've done it again!

That explanation covers everything. Especially that rolling off the stage. I actually noticed that the day of the Direct but assumed only he ran off stage and for some reason his jump flip animation kicked in during the fall. This though makes so much more sense and trust me when I get to E3 or the Smash event at Best Buy the first thing I am going to test is if I can DK Country roll off the edge and continue my gorilla onslaught uninterrupted.

Has Toon Link's dash attack been shown in any of the footage? He should also have the jump attack, but I'm afraid Sakurai's going to leave him unchanged for the sake of differentiation.

Revisiting DK

Dash Attack
iYK96rsGqzZE9.gif

We knew since the Smash Direct he had a Dash Attack. It is reminiscent of his DKC rolling attack.
I'm kind of surprised that his dash attack wasn't his signature DKC roll in the first place.
It's sort of like Wario not having his classic "Wario Land" tackle move.

The thing to notice is DK falling off the edge, but does a roll in mid-air. That shouldn't be happening in normal circumstances. What he thought was that DK is able to use the dash attack off stage. This is something that Project M does as well.

That fits with what he does in DKC, where he rolls of ledges to give him extra jump distance. Might be a good way to deny someone stage recovery.

You can probably trust people's word on GAF.

If there's youtube uploading, that will do fine.

I'd be so happy if there is youtube uploading like there is for Mario Kart.

Why would someone lie? That'd be kinda sad.

Here's an example. I'm playing vs some GAF Jr member and some trick of the stage gives me the win. He feels cheated and says he won't report the win unless we do a rematch. The person who lost feels like they are completely justified in asking for that rematch and don't think what they are doing is wrong.

there's probably gonna be some salt involved, but I doubt anyone will get that salty to the point where they refuse to acknowledge the outcome of the match

Wario's side smash is obviously Sakurai's way of incorporating that into the game without it taking up a special move slot. It wasn't completely "forgotten" like DK's roll.
I know. I meant it would be like not including the Shoulder tackle at all.
:P
Edit: I kind of wish Wario's shoulder tackle was one of his special B moves instead of a smash.

Yeah, good thing they gave Wario his classic "Wario Land" tackle move in his first appearance. DK had to go three games without his roll!

It is the same.

Sucks that one guy soured your trust, but I think it is very unlikely to happen again. Well, maybe the initial tournament will have problems with too many peopled signing up.

Just take a pic of the screen with some sort of camera after every match. That should be enough to make anybody who attempts to do that look like a salty idiot.

:P
Ah, I see. I'm just really defensive about that because somebody once said that Wario's side smash wasn't inspired by Wario Land and that Sakurai independently came up with an original move that miraculously looked exactly the WL tackle. Really.

As a DK fan, this saddens me.

lol
That's funny. I guess that guy was just willfully ignoring the fact that the F-smash looks just like the move in the platformers.
I guess most people expected it to be a special B move.
:P

I remember that too - that year I bought the game early, but couldn't play it until Xmas. It was excruciating, all I could do was look through the manual. I was only 11/12 and we didn't have internet yet, so when I got the game I genuinely didn't know about all the secret stuff.

Characters like G&W and Marth intrigued me because I had no idea who they were (Marth moreso than G&W) and look at us now, discussing which FE characters we want to see playable in Smash thanks to Melee.

I was quite a bit older than that (bought the Gamecube with my own wage) but I was equally excited. And while I had played plenty of G&W games in the 80's, I didn't know about Fire Emblem back then, either. :)

Hype update:

I traded in some old games (Golden eye Wii, a scratched copy of Mario Kart Wii, and MH Tri) and picked up a copy of brawl for $5. My son and I played a few games when we got home. Playing with the Wii mote takes some getting used to. I've also been wanting to take a day off from work during E3 so I decided on the 11th. I'll be driving out to the Best Buy on that Wednesday and teaming up with my kid to try out the demo station.

If I recall, the Wario argument was because the Brawl version doesn't look exactly like the Wario Land version. The guy complaining even posted a comparison. It's still a pretty silly argument though.

Oh wow, I never realized that DK has a roll now.

It looks like it's gonna replace his godawful dash attack. My least favorite move in the game, outside of super OP shiz

If you don't trust anyone then you can take picture of your victory with your phone or camera and upload it on Imgur only if people tried to cheat their way out.

They posted this yesterday so I'm expecting them to announce the winner today. Getting kind of late on the east coast.

Maybe they had hard time to pick the winner. Speak of challenger, Pop reminded me of A-Train.

Here is the prediction for rest of this week:

Blue Shell and 1 Veteran

Hopefully Cap Falcon or Wario! Please acknowledge the release date is being nearly by starting countdown with the reveals.

I dunno, I hated Ike's dash attack, I always kept hitting it too late and slashing right by my opponent.

If they're going to announce winners, the latest I can see them doing it is at 9PM PT. Though I would imagine they would do it by 7PM PT.

You need to be logged in.

How would they even contact the winner? Instagram doesn't reveal your e-mail (I put mine on my bio just in case lmao)

Don't think blue shell is happening. However, bring the Wario for Friday Wahaha!
He still hasn't given an explanation for the shell yet!

Also, I'm expecting Wario at E3. If we got Wario and Meta Knight at E3, then all of Brawls original newcomers would have been revealed in trailers rather than random updates!

For reveal or item itself?

The item has been shown off, so I'd have a hard bet against it =p item reveal and explanation, I meant

But... but... characters are more exciting =<

Lucario, Ike and King Dedede.

Edited: Never Mind. Just saw latter posts.
