Aksys Games announces Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN (PS3/PS4) for NA

Supposedly a metaphorical toggle-able switch is available for developers to allow PS3 controllers, like a Hori USB stick, for PS4 games. I would hope ArcSys takes advantage of this.

Glad I stayed awake!

Profound sadness

Well, at the very least you know that this stuff isn't region locked.

doesn't matter. I made the stupid mistake of importing BB:CS last gen and I could barely play it online due to the abysmal connections. Was one of the only three games I bought last gen that I DEEPLY regretted.

This stuff is borderline insulting. Are you telling me that nobody at Aksys or Arcsys can make it so the game get ATLEAST released a month later on EU? We have to wait almost an year and they have the nerve to ask for full price, which is actually even more expensive than the US version? They could atleast give us something to ease the pain.

"Hey guys we're sorry you got our game so much later than the US or Japan. But don't worry, the dlc characters are included on the disc at no aditional cost."

Did this ever happen? No.

With the way they ArcSys handles game updates/sequels, I'd honestly rather wait until Spring for an initial release with a bigger cast. If it was KI-style, a smaller cast would not bother me as much.

I can't imagine waiting when it comes to fighting games. You'd be so far behind by the time you'd start that you'd be left behind. I'd rather level up alongside everyone else so I stay competitive. I feel this genre demands it or you wont have any fun since the fans are dedicated and the games are built around 1 v 1. It's not like CoD or other team based games where you can be carried.

Not everyone plays the game competitively, if youre just playing casually or in local comps it doesnt have as big an impact

And they'll use the "next-gen" excuse to justify raising the prices to $15 for each DLC character.

I love their games but their DLC prices are easily the worst among the various fighting games

Maybe it's my friends, but we're all try hards. We grew up in the arcade in the heyday of SF2 though.

Still with online, everyone gets good fast. It's so hard to break into any fighting game even if you want to just play online because after a few months even the bad players are waaaaaaaay better than the new players. I think that's the main issue with fighting games and what keeps them from getting big. Too much to learn, all on you, and hard to start since you can't slowly learn with a team. You're just thrown at the wolves right away. That's another topic though so I'll stop.

I thought it was up to developers whether or not old sticks were compatible with their games?

Sony said that to cover their asses. It's probably too much work for devs to deliberately support them directly and bypass the OS controller API, so they most likely won't bother.

Is there a remote chance that this will use GGPO?

Huge fan of GG and BB but online play compared to KI was really an awful experience and i don't have much of a chance to play fighting games offline

and you think it's out of Sony's control?
Yeah good point they should just open up compatibility and take if out of developers hands if that's the case. Either way I can't wait to get into this game and I'm pretty happy it's Fall for some reason I thought it was an early 2015 release.

Are you shitting me? BBCS netcode is godly. Miles ahead than Capcom, Namco, Netherrealm, and all the competition.

I think you're the first person to ever claim BB has bad netcode.

Anyway, GGPO probably would not jive well with an Unreal Engine game so I'm going to say no to that possibility.

BB doesn't have bad netcode, but it's a commonly held belief that each subsequent version of BB had worse netplay that the previous one. Whether that's true, or just a side effect of the player base shrinking with each new release is up to you.

BlazBlue is often considered to have the best netcode of any fighter out there with the possible exception of GGPO.

Will wait til at least the 3rd generation of the game before buying ....Aksys are asshole when it comes to DLC and updates

If anyone checks out the IGN page on a mobile browser there's a release date for Sep 30. on the bottom of the page.
I'm assuming this is a generic placeholder date when they don't have an actual confirmed release date.

Yeah, I assume it'll come at least after Arcana Heart 3 Love Max!!!!! which probably will hit around September sometime.

Fuck I had forgotten about Arcana Heart 3 Love Max. So now it's THREE ArcSys fighters hitting the West this fall. Oh man.

(Arcana Heart is technically by Examu but whatever it still counts as an ArcSys game since the console port is by them)

Sorry for reporting my experience jeez but i'll stand by my word since i played pretty much every fighting game on both ps3 and 360 and i know what's better if i want to play online

IMHO, it is what i experienced, i'm absolutely not saying that the netcode itself was bad

awww :(

Anyway my experience got extremely worst with each game of the series, CT performed amazingly good for me, i used to play with european people pretty much lagless

After CS it went to shit, the same people i played with (ps3) on CT went from 4 bars to 1-2 with huge spike lags between matches, same exact thing happened later with P4A

I'm not giving shit for the hell of it because i'll be buying the game anyway, even if there will be like 2-3 people whom i'll be able to fight decently

Fantastic news, genuinely wasn't expecting an NA release until something like Spring 2015. This will undoubtedly be my fighting game pick of the year.

I would buy this but they're just going to re-release the crap out of this game like they did BlazBlue. If I could get some sort of confirmation that my initial vanilla version will be future proof upgradable then I'm in.

You forgot Under Night In-Birth if you import that game.

Blazblue had a continuing story arc across all the different versions. Not that that means too much to most people, but it's a reason to hang on to the older discs.
