Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

That Gamecube controller addon!!!! YES!!!

I seriously hope someone plays as Sonic. I want to see what changes he's had along with possible alternate costumes. Mainly looking forward to Little Mac, Mega Man and The Villager though and we all know someone will main those guys.

Go in not expecting anyone to rep Sonic.

If someone does, you come out happy! If not? You expected it :)

IR could work.

I'm not too big on this Smash Invitational. The guy who gets Lil' Mac's gonna kick ass on flatter stages.

Was Ike confirmed playable for the invitational? I can see him giving Little Mac trouble.

So are the contestants given some time with the game before the tournament?

Seems kind of unfair to the people who end up with new characters they've never played as.

Cross post:

I'm very happy that they did that since few friends told me that they wouldn't play new smash without GameCube controllers. Now they don't have excuses anymore.

I'm willing to give Wii U Pro Controller before I decided with anything. I'm glad that Nintendo is listening to the fans.

How much is the adapter itself? I don't mind to buy a couple of new controllers since my GameCube controllers are dying.

4 Wii U Pro
5 GameCube Controller
1 GamePad

I have those controllers ready for anyone that want to play with their preference.

I'm still going to try it with the Pro controller cause I just got one for MK8 so why not?

also in the announcement they didn't state a price, but I'm not expecting it to be higher than $30.

I was thinking this.

How can they be even remotely ready when they've never played the game before?

Surely they're getting hands on before, otherwise they'll be randomly pressing buttons learning new things as they play.

I think Scar mentioned that they would have time to practice.

I just realized Ganondorf hasn't been announced yet. I hope they include Demise or Ganon (beast-form) instead. Smash Bros-Ganondorf sucks and is not at all as threating as in the Zelda series.

If they do add a new fire emblem rep I hope it's Lynn. She's way too cool to exclude and leave as an assist trophy :(

I'm tired of seeing blue haired lord characters, 2 is more than enough.

So no surprise newcomer at the tournament I guess, considering the list is laid out and very clear.

Not to say no new comers at e3, that's obviously happening, just not in the tournament

I've got some bad news... she's an Assist Trophy.

Lyn is already confirmed as an assist. Also, doesn't Lynn have blue hair as well?

It's green.

OK, so as someone who doesn't follow the Smash pro community, anyone care to sum up who the competitors are, how good they are, who we think will win, and maybe some highlights from each one? :) I'm dumb and don't know where to start looking, but i'm interested in researching them and learning about them.

Yeah, if someone could.

I laughed at almost all of the players for how stereotypically dorky they looked. :P

Milktea-I think she plays Peach in Melee (idk, she was in the documentary though)
HugS-old school player, mains Samus
Ken-the former King of Smash, mains Marth
KDJ-another top old-school player, plays Fox, Marth, and Sheik
Lilo-no idea
DJNintendo-a pretty good player known for his Bowser
Toph-I think Sheik?
Peachyhime-no idea
Hungrybox-one of the top 5 in Melee, mains Puff (and Olimar in Project M)
PewPewU-NorCal dude who mains Marth
PPMD-one of the top 5 in Melee, mains Falco and Marth
Rapture-no clue
Crismas-one of the main organizers of the Apex series, no idea on mains
MacD-Team Curse manager, plays Peach
aMSa-the Red Yoshi we all know and love
Zero-one of the top Brawl and Project M players, mains Meta Knight in Brawl (duh) and Pit in Project M

If i had to pick someone, I'd go with either Zero, PPMD, or aMSa

That's my impression of ALL 'esports'. They hype them all up in the same way that professional athletes are, but most of the gamers know how to act/appear like that, so there's this weirdness that comes out of that.

Oh right, i need to watch that. Anyone have a link!?

So they need time to practice 16 characters, especially as they can't choose someone who's already been picked.

They won't need that much practice, as this isn't a super-serious tournament. A few minutes with Mario to get a feel for the physics is probably all they'll need. They probably have enough experience with Smash that they'll be able to pick it up and do fine in no time.

We clearly needed more PC Chris on the list

I've never watched a gaming tournament in my life, but that video got me pretty hyped. Looking forward to it.

Some of these guys are actualy sponsored. TeamLiquid is there with LiquidKDJ and LiquidKen, Evil Geniuses has PPMD, Team Curse shows up with HungryBox and MacD.

This is all pretty hype. Gonna have to try out both the GCN and Wii U Pro controller. Kind of worried that the adapter may introduce some input lag.

I know right, these pro players have no idea how a Super Smash Bros. game plays like. :p

uh-huh
