Wait I'm confused is nintendo making new GameCube controllers or just that adapter?

We are hoping that we would get both. I really like that controller with smash logo on it.

If I were a gambling man, I'd guess that there's going to be some sort of Smash Bros for Wii U combo that sells the game, the adapter and the Smash controller.

It feels like not tooo long ago we were there speculating on every morsel of information we can find to the point of exhaustion and then even further. But now it's like something fucking HUGE is happening every other week with all this HYPE.....Imma need to go lay down for a minute.

I don't think Nintendo wants me to be interested in Mario Kart. Every time I get excited for it they announce a direct or show off the new gamecube controller.

Crossposting from the Invitational Participants thread:

Cross posting from invitational thread:

These two things likely correlate. Either PC Chris and Wizzrobe were subs and somebody got confused, or HungryBox and aSMa are the subs already. Which makes even weirder Mew2King didn't get any sort of invitation, I think, but whatever.

Scar was probably a commentator sub himself, and somehow got a "full" position. I'm not sure how the 3rd is going to work.

I don't think Olimar will be picked. Even though he's got some new tricks, I can't imagine why even an Olimar main would pick him. He's too changed to use without some heavy practice I'd imagine.

Has there been any word on whether or not they're going into the game completely unexperienced? From all the announcements, it sounds like they may get some time to practice beforehand.

Scar was playing some Melee on stream earlier and someone asked him about this, he said the players will get some time to practice the game.

You could make the same argument for Bowser, though Olimar's more of a peculiar character so I can see the cause for worry. Doesn't one of the entrants use him in PM?

I'm still gonna gun for him in the BB demo, tho ;D

Hungrybox uses him in PM. From his Twitter, looks like he's either aiming for Villager, Greninja, or Rosa though.

Okay good. Would be incredibly lame if they all went completely fresh.

Still can't believe how good this is turning out. I feel like this is a Nintendo from an alternate universe.

Nintendo handled the invitational much better than I expected. Great choice of players, decent enough ruleset (for Nintendo, anyways), and GAMECUBE CONTROLLER ADAPTER!?

It's gonna be a fun tournament. =D

I cannot afford Wii U. I'm just a student.

You buying? :P

This explains so much lol.

So has it been confirmed that nintendo is making new GCN controllers, outside of an image with a logo that may just be representational? If so, can anybody give me the link?

dang :( I'd much rather buy new ones than hunt down old ones. Hear me, Nintendo??

I really don't think you need to worry about this lol

however, there's a decent chance the new GC pads will be GameStop exclusive or something similar. I doubt they're gonna make a ton of them. At least not at first.

>.> Well, you had a chance to get free one and you denied the offering because you deemed Wii U as dying console and waste of money. I don't think you should get free one from us! :P

It was a half dead console or a shopping spree on real life essentials such as clothes for my Birthday.

Come on, clothes was a more logical approach.

Happy the Cube controllers will be usable but if theyre gonna make a new edition why the hell not fix the small issues with the controller? Add a 4th shoulder button and fix the Dpad. Greatest controller.

I feel like Pikachu and DK are not going to be used.
Why does the GameCube adapter have two USB wires? I have an external HDD plugged in so I can't use the adapter.
One of them is most likely to power the adapter. I've read that using an external power source (or in this case not using a single USB cable for power and sending the data) will make it not have input lag for adapters/hubs. Though I think that applies to audio/video stuff, but I think I've read it being applied to data transfers as well.

It would be a waste for them to not make new GCN controllers. Especially ones with dat Smash logo. I wonder if they are going to make the cords even longer than the GCN controllers released around Brawl's release.

First I felt excitement then I felt the fear setting in.

Need to first find out if this is actually a product and not a tournament only deal.

Then we need to see if this is an actual GCN controller or one by that PDP company. I have fear that it's by PDP and licensed to use the smash logo. Unless Nintendo straight up gave them the ability to make GCN controllers like Nintendo did, I'll have doubts on the quality of the product.

And then if it's not by PDP, I wonder how well the supply is going to be coming from Nintendo. PDP can probably make more than enough, I have my doubts Nintendo could though.

The first 2 we can find out pretty easily. Then I just need to take off a ton of days in December and sit in line at stores 24/7 until I have 4 of them.
I may be a little too hyped.

PDP are making ones that connect to the Wiimote. This seems to be officially made by Nintendo in conjunction with the adapter.
Thank you.

Seems like you don't have to be logged in to view stuff on their Facebook page now.

I think we wouldn't see UI until we see people trying the demo. I'm excited about that. :)

I think they're going to keep the character and stage select screens a surprise till that day.

Interesting, that kind of makes sense. I wonder far through the UI will be.. And whether it will be the same on WiiU and 3DS? Won't they need different menus because of the touch screen etc?
