I hope they have more than this to show.

I just read that now this has leaked, expect nothing else but remasters at E3.

dem youtube commets.
That's some hot steamy bs right there.
FF15 being exclusive would've sealed the deal for a lot of people though.

Also this is has nothing to do with PS4 exclusives being downgraded graphically, this is down to Namco and their lack of transparency over their dealings with certain titles in the last few years.

Namco has nothing to do with this. This is published by Sony this time and PS4 is easier to develop for and the tools are already great. Being exclusive to one system ahs the benefit of optimization. But like DS2 and Watch Dogs, even with cut down lighting and geometry, the games are incredibly fun to play.

What exactly makes this game so special?

I'm confused about the amount of hype this 18 second clip is getting...

Because it's a new Souls game that's also probably exclusive.

But I'm sure a lot of people are going to be disappointed after all this hype because it looks and plays a bit differently than Dark or Demon's I think. It was the same case for DkS 2, so it's better not to hype it like crazy.

Although personally I think it looks really great and I actually hope that it's something new like "Beast Souls".

I just remember them stating that they made a new engine from scratch for Dark Souls 2.
That reminds me a lot Carmack-style development... that... doesn't seem practical. Maybe it's feasible but Carmack's engine took years to develop and he was sitting on money at the time and could afford to do something like that. I'm not sure From Software has that level of resources (and frankly, if we assume SCEJ is assisting in developing, I've never seen an engine from them that has been anywhere near what we're looking at here...).

Well colour me stupid, I never knew (probably should have kept up with it), thanks. Guess I can understand the hype a little more now.

I like the level and encounter design in the souls games, and the variety of weapon and magic movesets that vary your playstyle and decision making, but I wouldn't be unhappy to see a more populated and less oppressive atmosphere from a game with some similar mechanics. And perhaps a different approach to character progression.

I want Bethesda game studios to hire FROM to design their combat mechanics, because the Souls series has my favorite melee gameplay from any game ever. It has has a lot to do with the quality of the animations, but I'm consistently amazed at how much depth these games have with such simple controls.

Of course, I think Souls games have to be oppressive, but they can be quite traumatic, and I agree that it's nice to play games with more comfortable atmospheres. It would be great to see other studios paying closer attention to the fluidity and tension of Souls combat. I think a large number of open world games would be much more satisfying and feel much more alive if every encounter was as vicious as even the most basic enemies in DeS/DS, and it would go really well towards encouraging players to be less overtly aggressive and more thoughtful and alive in their playthroughs.

The video screams Solomon Kane. I'll play it no matter what type of game it ends up being, but I'd strongly prefer another Souls type game where the guns are optional.

Yeah got the same vibe. Love the Solomon Kane stories by Robert E Howard.

Damn so much hype!

Honestly the only thing that will be bigger than this reveal at the Sony's conf from a hype perspective is if Last Guardian gets revealed with a release date and a gameplay trailer. I think that would be even bigger than Souls. Plus considering TLG could most likely be the final Team ICO game to be ever made I think it will be even more hype worthy. That studio deserves a good send of.

I just hope there is some focus on a tendency system and more focus on characters. I like the combat, but I've never been in love with it. The characters are what I love about the Souls series. Their vague presence is what makes the game so haunting. Its awkward multiplayer too.

I know many people have said this already, but....HOLY. SHIT.

Really hope we get some more footage/info at E3, this is easily one of my most anticipated next gen titles.
