Bravo! Classic gif.

Eeeeeek this has made me very happy! If I don't already have a next gen console when this comes out this will be the game that makes me take the jump.

Someone needs to cut the clips into the vincemacmahon.gif if it hasn't been done yet

Do the Souls games have a formal engine? I thought that beyond Havok physics, the engine they use is entirely in-house.

As I recall, both Demon's and Dark used Sony's own PhyreEngine, which has been used across lots of titles including Journey and Gravity Rush.

I just remember them stating that they made a new engine from scratch for Dark Souls 2.

They definitely said that, although I haven't played DS2 and don't know how true it is. It could be a 'brand new' engine in the same way as COD Ghosts, or an incremental upgrade for CryEngine. At a guess I'd say they bought a licence from Sony to adapt PhyreEngine for their own use (rather than continuing to licence it, as it's expensive to use on other consoles) and integrate new lighting models etc for use on next-gen consoles.

Really pissed off this leaked now before E3. Would have been a really, really cool megaton.

Reveals like this is what makes E3 so memorable. Now we have it 2 weeks before. SMH.

That reminds me a lot Carmack-style development... that... doesn't seem practical. Maybe it's feasible but Carmack's engine took years to develop and he was sitting on money at the time and could afford to do something like that. I'm not sure From Software has that level of resources (and frankly, if we assume SCEJ is assisting in developing, I've never seen an engine from them that has been anywhere near what we're looking at here...).
They created a new engine for DS2 that is futureproof & usable for for "next-gen" games, not just PS360.

The best thing about this, is that for me hyping up a new Souls game kind of became one of my favorite things about gaming. Seriously. Just the thought of new, incredibly gorgeous and yet terribly hostile locations to be conquered, and massive, disturbing bosses that will scare the crap out of me behind fog gates...Bosses that I will take down after dozens of tries each.

I felt odd comfort knowing that somewhere...From was working on new ways to kill me over and over while I was waiting for Dark Souls II. But now I know it like the back of my hand, same as it's brethren DeS and DkS.

To think that DSII just came out, but the feels are flooding right back...

The Shadow Tower sequel theories (with Souls mechanics) instead of Demon's Souls 2 are not that bad either. Who owns the Shadow Tower IP? From Software?
Yes, the game was self-published. That said, while the game does have guns in it, the visual style of Shadow Tower Abyss was more akin to King's Field. Though given that all of From's games since the PS360 era have used a similar engine, it's not impossible.

I hope this comes to XB1, but if it doesn't this looks like the game to make me buy a PS4. I'll have to see a tiny bit more, but FROM doesn't need to convince me too much. I already know what I'm gonna get.

And now to hand out FREE COPIES of Beast Souls to members of the studio audience, office janitor and lunch getter, Fumito Ueda!

No. no no no no no.

I want those lucky a$$ fast clickers to get a Sony branded boomerang... because it would make me feel slightly better about not being able to get a ticket.

The fact that some people still think this is multiplatform pretty much means people will be shitting bricks when Project Beast is announced officially.

The reaction videos will be glorious

Another leak on a friday.

This guy has access to the full thing, yet he leaks snippets.

Hype reached original leak levels in less than a day.

Full trailer at E3.

Nice job sony, that's how you do it.

I wonder if it is even going to be a Souls game. Seems like they might want to differentiate it a little.

Also do you think Sony and Namco have a deal in place over that name? Demons and Dark are 2 different brands but they are so similar in pretty much every way a game can be (graphical style, game design, menus and UI etc...) that I have to imagine at one point lawyers had to have sat down and made a deal to make sure Sony was ok with it being called "Souls"
