On top of being the spiritual successor to Demon's I wouldn't be surprised if it was a timed exclusive at the very least. Demon's had such a hardcore following I am sure Sony would want that Souls pie all to itself.
The leaker of the original video said it was Sony Japan and From Software developing, don't suspect it would be timed.

It won't be timed.

Its being made by SCEJ and FROM.

It it has Sony Japan name attached to it, just like it's been said all this time, then this is a full time exclusive.

When i saw the thread title I spilt my chilidig all over my keyboard. There is now chili and cheese oozing into the joints between each key. It smells delicious, albeit not as tasty as those webm's

what?
why would it be timed? this is a sony funded game. it is never going to be ported
nintendo games are not timed exclusives

This is an extremely short-sighted view, but I guess when no one can play Demon's Souls in ten years, you'll be able to bask in how useful exclusivity is for consumers.

Your suggestion that releasing on a console to begin with is a bad choice is no less short sighted.

I don't know why people would want it to be a PS4 exclusive anyway. How does it being released on a closed system benefit the consumer?

Because it will look and run better if there is nothing there to hold it back.

Look dude, I know you are currently going through Stage 1 (Denial), but you will have to face the simple truth:

This is a PS4 exclusive.

And you obviously missed BruceLeeRoy's post and some earlier DemonNite's teases that clearly said it's a PS4 exclusive.

If the former is true then yeah it is like Nintendo and Bayonetta 2. Wonder how much money Sony Japan tossed at them if this game exists and if that is indeed the case.

Looks really great. I am playing Dark Souls as the first one of this kind I play and enjoying it quite a lot. If the rumours are true, this is a great move from Sony. Damn, they are really nailing it with PS4.

Also, it looks more like vampiresque / van hellsing inspired which for me is the perfect move. I am thinking a lot about Castlevania SotN when playing Dark Souls.

For the people speculating on the platforms.

This is the guy who leaked the footage.

Oh don't you worry plenty of people have played DeS and will play Beast Souls.

The Souls series would not have existed if Sony did not help FROM and fund DeS. The only person with a short sighted view here is you.

It's baffling to me how some are still questioning the exclusivity of this game. The evidence is there that it's a PS4 exclusive, let it sink it. SMH.

A PS4 may be purchased sooner than expected now...

Don't really like the movie, but it's the only gif I could find suitable for this situation.

How so? There are thousands of games that, without emulation, would be entirely lost to time. The long view is that no one benefits from closed systems. It forces more work on everyone. Ask Nintendo or Square when they had to hire a bunch of ASM hackers to reverse engineer their own games because they couldn't find the source. That cost them millions of dollars for marginal benefit.

What do you mean 'lol wut'? If only multi platform games were released on either console, how is any one console more appealing? They'd be the same god damn thing.

no shit. this is what you said:
There shouldn't be anything that differentiates products between the competitors.

suggesting that all consoles should be privy to the same games. anyways. enough derailing.

In 10 years we'll be playing it at 8K on our PS3 emulators. Or via PS Now. You don't really believe what you wrote, do you?

Why won't I be able to play Demon's Souls in 10 years?

Not our problem that a company lost their own source code. A competent company wouldn't have lost it.

SCEJ is involved. There's zero chance its a timed exclusive.

It's not like Bayonetta 2. That's a game that was in development and then canned, but Nintendo swooped in and saved it. This is a game that Sony will be fully funding just like they do with something like The Order or Quantic Dream games.

Well maybe not in that aspect but I meant that more along the lines of the games are funded by a particular brand and are therefore exclusive.

Uncertain what Sony did for the first game. From has shown they are quite capable of making a superior game by themselves, twice.

Their role was making it exist in the first place. One of their producers went to From to talk to them about games, and specifically whether or not they had any plans for a new King's Field. Since they didn't they decided to work together on a new IP and was similar but separate from the KF series, so that they weren't locked into specific lore of mechanics from that series. And it seems like the same may be happening here.
