I'm done talking about Bob Cole but... holy shit I'm just stunned at some of the things he says and, even more, some of the stuff he totally misses.


Great OT, looked like Detroit was going to score about 10 goals there for a bit but Malkin's line had a rare good shift. MAF has been unfreakingreal on some plays. I can't believe you guys thought he was a borderline bust a few years ago

what about the no call high stick on helm. or any of the 40 other penalties that have happened with no call on both sides. cmon, you don't make that call

That was a good call, ref had no choice. Zetterberg skated right into MAF and knocked him off his feet while he was well inside the crease, just imagine if the Wings had scored on that play. It would have been a fucking travesty.

I bet though if the refs had known the Wings weren't going to score on that play (and it looked like a gimme when Fleury first went down) they wouldn't have called it. But it was a penalty.

I know, I'm just saying...Seriously though, there shouldn't be any penalties in OT playoffs unless someone is killed/almost killed or profusely bleeding from the facial area.

Holy crap I'm posting in the NHL thread!

Just based on that OT period alone, I'd be surprised as hell if the Penguins won. Detroit is just abusing them on both sides of the ice.
 
I too am amazed to be posting in an NHL thread, I admit I don't follow my wings much, especially during the regular season, but during the playoffs I'll usually watch, and always in elimination games. So, yeah, just from what I'm seeing the Wings better win.
 
Wow. What an overtime. MAF has been an absolute SAINT in goal. If only the Pens could manage some shots on goal of their own. C'mon, boys! Keep at it! Malkin looked pretty close on a couple of occassions. I hope he's waking up. Crosby has been surprisingly quiet. It's at a time like this where Malkin needs to step in and take the reins.

I'm glad the game wasn't decided (either way) because of that goalie interference on Zetterberg. Imo it wasn't a penalty, you see that shit all the time and the player can't just disappear when going towards the net. But as I said, it would have been bad if the Wings scored on that play or if the Pens scored on the PP.

Detroit is looking good but the Pens are really fucking dangerous once they get in to the zone with some speed. Wings have to hit the net more, lots and lots of missed shots now.

Playoff beards. Superstitous NHL players stop shaving when the playoffs begin and don't shave again until thier team is eliminated.
 
Staggy and Errey back in the Burgh always have a huge man crush on Roberts too. When he sits on the bench, they talk of how intense he sits down. The guy's bigger than Conklin. :lol

Serious playoff reporting and NBC do not go hand in hand. But they'll tell us the shot tally for the billionth time and remind us about playoff beards.
 
I <3 no commercials during overtime. Man on man, this game is faaaantastic. I think the Pens are due to make me jump in jubilation during an OT playoff game. Primeau broke our hearts years ago. It's time for some happiness.

Not yet, but it doesn't look good if he's not playing when they need him and facing elimination. :( I hope he's alright even if he can't return, excellent player.

I'm not sure how long our D can hold up without Gonch back there. We need to win this now.
