What an amazing game. Fleury was so clutch and he really showed that regardless of what happens in this series he is a big time goalie. If the Pittsburgh's management can keep the core of the team together they will be scary down the road.

That said, amazing effort by both teams and I can easily see this series going to Game 7 and it flipping either way.

Gonch comes back from the dead to quaterback the PP on the game winning goal. AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lol :lol :lol

Pens haven't entirely convinced me (especially after tying up the game and coming out in OT with such little effort), but fuck ... I could stand to see 2 more games of this.

Now, with this win, that extended 5-on-3 where the Pens didn't score in the third period of game 4 becomes all the more haunting.

hey cool the ref got an assist on that goal, fitting to say the least

:lol

Fun game, I was actually rooting for the Pens, don't want the season to end just yet.

Wings must be kicking themselves, they had some quality chances, but Fleury stood on his head.

i can't tell if these play by play guys on NBC want the series to go seven games or just openly love Pittsburg, but it's not exactly even-handed. ugh.

i hate living in chicago. back in detroit i at least could have watched this on cbc :(

Quit your whining, with all the BS calls in these playoffs so far, they called the one they were supposed to call. Unfortunate for Detroit, but that's why you try to control your stick at all times.

agreed. i'd be livid if the pens won on one of those goaltender interference penalties though.

figured once it was a 4 minute penalty that the game was over. that's hard enough to kill in the first period, let alone the sixth :lol

i refuse to believe that. what's next, no santa claus?

why have the gods forsaken me?? :(

No argument there. Fleury stole this one for us, no questions asked. He played out of his miiiiiiiiind.

I give the Pens the first period. Then they went on cruise control (or stuck in neutral) until Mad Max went beyond thunderdome. Then RoboMAF showed up.

Incredible game, but it figures that a PP would decide it.
The Pens aren't really able to compete against the wings 5-on-5 for a whole game.
Well, it was good that the penalty was pretty unquestionable atleast. I thought Detroit could have gotten another PP a couple of minutes before the high stick when Zetterberg was tripped but whatever.
Really tough mentally for the Wings to rebound after being 35 seconds away from the cup, but I think they showed in the OT that they can do it. They dominated in the last 4-5 periods and if they just take that with them into the next game it should be over.

Of course the announcers want it to go 7. Give the sport, and their ratings, some juice.

They started trapping after they took the lead, and they were on their heals the rest of the game.

I uh ... except the fact that all of their "analysts" (Cherry, Hrudey, Simpson) called the series after the last game? And if not for MAF's ridiculous performance tonight, the series would be over.

hey, not to be a pussy, but will pens fans find a new nickname for fleury? at least for use here? everytime you say MAF I think of the real MAF :lol

you know... Mr. Angry Face

I'm sorry, but I think MAF is better than his actual nickname.. "Flower." Talk about being a pussy..

we can come up with something sweet. OR get him to paint his mask with the Mr Angry Face smiley. either one works.

actually the latter would be sweet :lol

I'm not even a Pens fan and I pretty well know him as MAF. Mr. Angry Face hasn't been relevant on GAF for years, anyway.

This is the hockey thread....and MAF has always been and always will be MAF! Well, except when he's RoboMAF.

Sydor saying Fleury was "solid" on the postgame.
that's about right. and the wings played pretty good. and crosby's chicks are, you know, bangable. and steak is so-so. nothing big.

FUCK YEAH!!!!! Holy crap what a game by MAF. The boys did dig deep and now we make it to Wednesday!

This one feels sweeter then the Kasper OT winner against Hasek years ago...

What a game! My wife was even getting into it by the 2nd OT, which is saying something. I don't know how Datsyuk earned 2nd star tonight if Zetterberg didn't get one, that made little sense to me but hey! it's the CBC.

A couple of things:

1. Malkin is a waste of space.
2. Detroit absolutely owned the neutral zone. You could set your watch by the amount of times Pittsburgh would fight to gain possession in their own zone, fight to get the puck out by flinging it off the boards...only for it to fall on a Detroit stick and the whole process start over again. Seriously now, it's time for a new approach. :lol

Anyways, the next game is going to be a doozy. Pittsburgh has young legs on their side, Detroit has to be a little shaky on Osgood. I don't think the Penguins can rope-a-dope for another entire game, though. If Detroit doesn't close 'em out Wednesday, it'll happen in Game 7.

Great game, and again full marks to Marc-Andre Fleury. He was absolutely sublime in net.

edit: And :lol :lol @ X26 eating his heart out over the call. Highstick + blood = four minutes in the box, you should know that.

as much as the wings outplayed them for most of the game, you can't start playing when you are down 2-0 like the wings did. Bad first period for them and that may have just cost them the game. oh well props to pittsburgh they played their asses off and fleury was a beast. everyone was looking pretty beat in the last two ot's.

you can't yank ozzy now though. just gotta remember he's been here before and knows what it takes to refocus.

i'm actually pumped the wings lost. i know I shouldn't say that and it's not accurate. i'd have loved if they won, but i have all day wednesday off and now i can bounce around in my zetterburg jersey annoying the shit out of people, wings car flags and all. it would have sucked to know that i just worked thru seeing the wings win the cup.

You are correct for the flow of this series, but Geno fed Sykora that game winning pass... Wednesday please...

Man, I can't even imagine what it must be like to be a Detroit fan right now, especially if you were in the Joe Louis arena. 30 seconds away, and now it's back to Pittsburgh.

1. A broken clock is right twice a day
2. A blind squirrel eventually finds a nut
3. Jimmy crack corn and I don't care

Take your pick :P
